MLM
AUTHOR: Becky - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, September 04, 2010
I have been involved with MLM for 17 years and it is much easier than trying to work 8 hours and then come home and go to a second job and work 4 or 5 more hours a day. Not to mention the tax problem at the end of the year because the second job didn't take out enough taxes and then I owe more taxes, and have to get a third job and work seven days a week to pay those. Been there, done that. MLM has given me a residual income equal to working a second full time job for the last 12 years. Yes, it takes work in the beginning because it is a business, but if you treat it as a business and you pick a good solid company, there are MLM companies that are good solid companies, you will be fine. You have to be persistent and not a quitter. You will succeed. I am a quiet, shy, person and I did it. Just don't jump from company to company.

The owner of this company has unbelievable integrity and so do most of the distributors I have met. I have NEVER met a distributor or anyone involved with Market America that would deny anyone information or help getting you started. Your complaint doesn't even make sense. Why would somebody refuse to talk to a potential business partner or customer! Sounds more like your attention starved.

The Truth on Market America - It does work, but does require entrepenuarial attitude
AUTHOR: Trevor - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2007
It seems to me like people are complaining about having to work to make the system make you money O.o
My name is Trevor. I am only 19, but already have run a computer repair business, a website business, and a Shoe click-and-brick retail shop online. I also have competed and placed top 10 in the nation both years i ran in DECA competition. This is not to gloat, but to put some backing to my validity.
I was brought on board to Market America about 5 months ago (although i say i have only been active for 2 months, since the first 3 months I was away in Europe). And i have to say, although it looks like a pyramid or MLM, there are some key differences that make Market America anything BUT a rip off.
But, i think the problem is it isn't for everyone. You have to be willing to put some time and effort and step outside your comfert zone since the main parts of market america are it's products (so you have to show people) and their webcenter (this is my specialt, but still it requires getting people to open up and attend the free 30 minute demonstration, which can be hard at times depending on the person's personality).
I myself am an entrepreneur, and had 1.5 years in sales with Office Max. I have found success with Market America. I specialize in the business web system, which is very powerful and effective, so effective that i myself have put my shoe shop onto it. So i myself am satisfied with their websystem, and i have sold other businesses the web system, and THEY have found success in it. We even used it for two churches for the ease of changing content.
As for the products, the products, yes you are required to either buy some products to sell, or set up demonstrations with people so they can see the products and try them, and if they like them continue to buy them. The way i look at it is though, you can't be hired onto ANY company and expect to keep your job if you don't do a single thing and don't bring about any profit. Plus, by trying the products you are able to sell them better. I myself love the Bliss stres pills, i took two of those babies when traveling overseas to Europe, and my flight was exrtremely delayed, and it was chaos, but i felt calm. The next day the same thing happened (but i forgot to take the pills) and i was panicked like i normally would have been. And i use the Royal Spa shampoo and condition for my hair, they really do work well.
The products aren't chinsy like scam companies, the products in fact are continually updated. If they don't sell, then they are removed. if people like them, then they work to improve them further. This is why you see so many people having return 'prefered' customers.
And unlike pyramid scams, the whole point of MLM and pyramid is to get as many people below you so you don't have to work and so you make money at their expense. Market America is NOTHING like that. Firstly, a lot of people bring on other people to help them as well. I know i try to get my friends into this becuase heck, if i can sell a website and make 1000+ profit and the business is happy and i'm happy, anyone who is willing to step out of their confort zone can. Secondly, the Market America system is DEVOTED to helping you succeed. They send out two weekly emails on tips to help you improve, and its whoever brings you on board's responsibility to help you through everything. Bill and I (bill brought me on board to Market America, Bill is a great christian man who does this for a living so he can have time to devote to his family and to church) meet up a lot and he helps me make more sales, keeps me busy and we both profit from it.
Yes, you are urged to bring people on, but isn't that a similar thing to Franchising? When a business becomes successful, it creates more 'buildings' where it can to expand it's market. Franchises provide the new shop with tools to succeed, guidelines, and the products and services that are needed. Market America does the exact same thing. And to make sure that the people who bring on new people help them, they have a binomial system, meaning you don't get paid if one side of your group is neglected and not being successful. In the system, either everyone succeeds or they don't. It builds a team effort. Me, Bill, and 3 others have our own Web team, I handle web design, Bill is the main market man, Tom handles my side work, and the two others focus on bringing people in and training them to be successful. It's so impressive and legitament, even the University of Wisconsin system and their business team has allowed us to hire interns through them.
In all, yes, it does require work. Yes you DO need to sell, but with products like they have, the only hard part is to get people to try them, then they are hooked. NO, you don't NEED to recruit to make money. I haven't recruited anyone yet (although i'm trying to get my 2 friends on board), and yet i already sold a website and have a lot more lined up.
So there's my say. I'm working hard and making money, thanks to Market America i'm going to be able to afford to get married before i finish collage to the love of my life. I'm getting help to take care of the minimum product sale goal, and continuing to bless other businesses with the websystem. I run a christian business with Bill.
Sincerely,
Trevor F.

Market America is not a scam and not Rip Off Business. It's a great company and provide competitive products
AUTHOR: Eric - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, June 17, 2007
Some people here thinks that MarketAmerica is a scam business. But they don't realize they're been scam if they are working JOB (Just Over Broke) -.You guys wanna know what scams are? First of all, yes, if you are working in JOB for the rest of your life-Being Just Over Broke. Most people can't save their money if they are in the JOB,earning limited income, pay more taxes to IRS,get raise once a year, worst scenario downsizing if the company is shutting down after few years and then after 45 years they'll retired not longer enough with the 401k.So they'll have to apply for another job just to earn more income.Another worst scenario their back up plan is to work for another job.Like a slaves and keep wishing or dreaming to become rich.
If they are a business owner that can afford $20k to $1million franchise system that means they are not average people. They are Rich Morons but someday they will not become successful business owners for their big money franchise business. They will file for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy like other companies just already lost their companies.RICH-is only wishing;Wanna Become Successful?-IT'S A WILLING PROCESS.
Market America is about retailing, leveraging, duplicating and building relationship with people. The products are so great such as, wellness products, cosmetic, business website,anti-aging, up to house hold products and they are proven and effective products.Unlike if other people buying from the regular stores, all the products they buy, are lack of GMP (Good Manufacturing Procedure) and no high quality Products. So what the heck? They're just waisting their money buying cheap products for nothing.Perhaps, they'll get sick or whatever.
Also, the good things about Market America, that they do not manufacturing their products. They have unlimited products that can sale to the people in what they want and what they need .Also, they have 24/7 Online Shopping Partner stores, buy gift certificates for the best price, can read some news (health, politics, world news and many others),email serviceprovide for preferred customers,nutri-physical (a nutritional analysis for optimize health) and many others.Just look our business web portal www.marketamerica.com.We beat the Amazon.com that they just started selling the books and music. But Market America has more features!
So,Market America is a number 1 Online Retail Store.Provide the best products to the consumers and the number 1 Online Product Brokerage Company. It's like Walmart Store is a number 1 retail stores in United States. They buy the products from manufacturers and sale their products to the low income costumers-average people.
The compensation plan is great!A Binomial Plan with MPCP(Management Performance Compensation Plan)a computer search it for infinity, all the distributors(UnFranchise Owners,Independent Distributors,Product Broker,Wellness Consultant) are structured in NMTSS-National Meeting Training Service System. The distributors get paid weekly if they follow the plan in the right away.Market America won't pay commissions to the distributors if they are just sitting around doing nothing. The keyword here is to become succeed is WILLING not Wishing.Be a good mentor to help others to succeed not failures.

Why I got out of Market America
AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, May 06, 2007
1. They don't manufacture their products...so, they are not "built on products".
2. I had dishonest people in my upline. One also was verbally abusive and lied to my face.
3. A couple of the products are "ok", but not enough to build a business on
4. It takes HOURS to explain "the plan". My rule of thumb is if you can't explain the basics of how a business works in five minutes (not the full overview) there is something wrong. And then, it took 3 hours to sign me up...the "expert" ordered me the wrong products and left me high and dry with them.
5. My gut told me I had made a mistake from the beginning.
6. I still don't know anyone who has truly made any money with these guys!
7. Ego=Failure. I knew it when I saw Market America sponsoring a Super Bowl Party, and spending millions to do so! I predict these guys don't make it out of this decade...lets see if I am correct.
8. Amway rewritten. The president boasts of his background with Amway.
9. Too many "requirements" to move forward...pay for your website, voice mail, endless meetings, trainings, over $100/products (still have some I will be selling at my yard sale next month!)
10. There is nothing special about the products that you can't find elsewhere. I have heard dist. tell stories about the cleaners being non toxic, those are flat out lies!
11. I found a better, non mlm way of living with a great company and a 22 year history (not quarters like they boast) of positive growth!
The best advice I give people is, doing your homework first, find your passion and listen to your gut! I didn't and made a mistake, but it lead me to the great company I now am so PROUD to be partnered with...xxxx!

Just like Quixtar (formerly Amway), This company sells a million products, and touts their hundreds of millions they make anually. They also create "more millionaires" than anyone else, but let m,e as you this.....
I work for a half a billion dollar a year company, that sells only one type of product.......
So how impressive is it, that a company that sells everything from jeans, vitamins, makeup...you name it....isnt a billion dollar a year company?
The numbers look good at first, untill you start doin the math.
How many people do YOU actually come across that actually use products from any of these MLMs?
And furthermore, where are the millionaires? Ive met a lot of people who "are on their way" to becoming millionaires....but Ive yet to meet the people that are already there.
Paying a couple of hundred bucks to have the right to annoy all of your friends about "the oppurtunity" they are missing out on while selling products from a catalogue, or a website that is identical to a million others. Does not make you a business owner...it makes you a sucker

Learing about Market America
AUTHOR: Angie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, August 26, 2006
I am a business owner in the process of evaluating Market America. I found the company to be very ethical and moral after months of research. I am SO surprised at these comments and how close-minded people are. I understand that Market America is not multi-level marketing, but it blows my mind how people think of Mulit-level Marketing is Bad. It is much better than being an employee!! I have read numerous of times that Multi-level Marketing has created more millionaires than any other industry! Yet people think it is a scam...
Market America is the most powerful business opportunity I have ever seen and evaluated. I own a financial services company and most of these negative comments are just employee-minded people that are broke. It is unfortunate that so many people are comfortably miserable and will let an employer control their life.
Take it from experience, if you do not do something, you will more than likely end up broke. I have seen it over and over again. It is important to think outside the box. And if you do not agree with someone trying to do something better for themselves, keep your comments to yourself. At least they have a dream and are willing to go the extra mile to have a better life. Do not be a dream-stealer...

Response to comments on litigation
AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 07, 2006
I spent six months in training with an independent distributor of Market America. I will say that the person who thought the litigation was only regarding an independent distributor, in my opinion may be in for a slow but unpleasant awakening due to not doing their homework on the very company they are representing.
J.D. Ridinger is named as a participant of wrongdoing in the case.
What has not been mentioned by anyone so far is that he is not only the President and CEO of Market America, he is also the founder. He was formerly a Diamond (made a ton of money) in Amway who was disatisfied with the way things were being run by a committee of Diamonds he was a part of in Amway. He left Amway and "served" his ten years of non-compete required by his contract with Amway after which he launched Market America and it's complementary compensation plan for independant distributors. The compensation plan was designed by him.
I agree that no one should be judged harshly without firm evidence of guilt of a charge like this. But if you read the information in the link carefully it says in part " Both defendants, without admitting OR DENYING the Complaint's allegations, consented to final judgments..."
Lest I be accused of taking this out of context, I will paraphrase the rest by saying they agreed not to do anything similar to what they were charged with again.
The key point as far as I am concerned is that THEY NEVER DENIED ANY WRONGDOING!
J.D. Ridinger and the other gentleman involved are multimillionaires and no doubt could have afforded to keep the government in court for several years costing taxpayers (that's you and me folks) a ton of money. No matter the outcome of the case it likely would have cost both sides millions.
The decision to settle was, no doubt, a financial one for both sides.
What bothers me is that for all intents and purposes, it appears to me that J.D. Ridinger did not deny the allegations for one of two reasons:
1) He chose his money over defending his integrity.
2) He is guilty.
I for one don't want to do business with anyone who falls into either of the above two categories.

I am an independent distributor of Market America for the last three years. Have make several tens of thousands in commissions with the company conducting the business only on a very part time basis. My business partners and myself absolutely love the products. Yes, I do have customers that come to me from other different directions. Some of them I do not even know that buy from my website and I only sell the products at suggested retail price. I have repeat customers and that says alot of the products. Market America also provide high tech high touch web site solutions to small to medium business. Are you aware of it?
Market America also provide long distance service and international phone services. My customers and myself saved tons of money with our overseas calls to our family overseas. Have you heard of this?
For your info, in America, you are innocent until proven guilty. Being a defendant does not necessary means you are guilty. There are alot of people and ex-employees that are jeolous of the company success. Sometimes it is easy to pay, even if you are not guilty, so you can appease the small people so you can move on!
We do not pre-judge any person but we do prequalify our future business partners. It is one of the best kept secret that we do not easily share with anyone.

You have to really get people involved in this and I don't have time. I place machines and will make money. I'm not saying whether or not you can make money you have to sell products. Why doesn't someone just tell me that instead of all the shpiel. Theres a magazine called Success and the picture is fake.
I had someone years ago try and get me involved and I won't.

Avoid MLM Pyramid schemes altogether
AUTHOR: Winston - (U.S.A.)

This guy did you a big favor for not even letting you get involved in the first place.
Market America is a typical "product-based" Multi-level marketing pyramid scheme in which the sale of product masks the real reason behind the existence of the company: recruitment of friends and family to profit not yourself, but those at the top of the pyramid structure. You will find very little product is sold outside of distributors...those at the bottom get hosed.
For more information, see: www.mlm-thetruth.com
Avoid these companies at all costs...although I see some "distributors" that have already come to this outfits' defense....

Market America is the company. Distributors are the people that own their own personal business and help to get products to their individual customers. (For example, my customers are not someone elses customers).

You had posted this web site. As you can see, this is an individual person that did something illegal. If you read through the case, you will notice that the person (a distributor) did something illegal. It so happened that they did this through Market America. It has nothing to do with Market America's credibility or the credibility of other distributors. We are all individuals running out business in our own way.
Please do more research before you slander a company's name. Attending a meeting. And perhaps, find a distributor that is more willing to sell you the products you want. Maybe the distributor you were with previously get frustrated with you as a customer. It's personal . Or.. Maybe they were concerned that the products you were using were not going to help you. Or... Maybe they quit. Who knows. But if you want the products-- you can find them easily.
I'm assuming you did not look all that hard. All you had to do was search on Google. Lots of Distributor websites would have popped up. You can also visit marketamerica.com to find distributors directly.
Hope this helps you.

Hi,
I am sorry that you had a bad experiance when you phoned Market America and spoke to Rick Williams. I don't understand what you were asking him, but I do understand your need for the products. They are the best products I have ever used. If you are interested everyone that is a distributor, including me, is correct in explaining to you why you just can't buy into Market America. You can become a distributor but you have to be very honest and really have a desire to help others. That has always been what I have done and I am very blessed with Market America. The products and the income have changed our lives. If you feel that you have the desire to help others and be a great impact in others lives please call me toll free and I would be more than happy to assist you. My toll free number is 877-672-4443. Market America is a very Ethical Company
AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, August 10, 2004
Hi Jeremy,
I too, like Kelcy, am an independent distributor for Market America. She has explained each of the situations accurately. My husband and I have been distributors with this company for almost six (6) years now and have never seen any other company be any more ethical or honest with its distributors than this one. I am very proud to say that we are distributors for this company and hope that you will thoroughly check it out before making any further comments. I am sure you will find it to be much different than you currently believe it to be.

Market America is a privately held company,
AUTHOR: Kelcy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, July 25, 2004
Hello Jeremy
I am an independant distributor for Market America. I read your complaint but did not understand exactly what the problem was. Where you trying to purchase stock in the company, a distributor ship or just wanted to try some of Market America's products?
Market America is a privately held company, so you can't purchase stock. If you are interested in the business opportunity (Distributor ship), you must find another Market America distributor and they can help you. If you are just interested in using the products, you must still find a Market America distibutor and they can help you.
Market America can't sell you products or set you up with a distributor ship because this would undercut the existing distributors that market for Market America. I have found Market America to be one of the most ethical and honest companies that I have ever done businss with. I hope this helps your situation. Let me know if I can be of any help.
