I am among the youth of the Tri-Lakes. I have read every single rebuttal on this report. Matoon could not be more right. Jack Delehanty is a sadistic man who uses his power to better himself. But I also have to state that even if you get rid of Mr. Delehanty, chances are that you are going to run into somebody just like him. I say you move on with this subject. It is a losing battle. This report came out about 5 years ago.

Since then, John Santy has been indicted, convicted, and jailed for a long time for embezzling money from people who reported to him.



Don Perryman is under investigation for admistrative cover-ups. Has been investigated for many things, accused by his own staff of a lot of mis-conduct. Carried on an affair with a married woman who I have known since she was a child, then had her husband arrested and jailed when he found out. Perryman's wife told me some awful tales of what an evil, ruthless, immoral man he is. After she co-signed for the cost of his defense when the village tried to remove him, he left her with all the bills. The local forest ranger, Julie Harjung has caught him numerous times in vehicles in the Lake Colby parking area with other men's wives. I know of a time he drove a police car right after being served 8 drinks in less than an hour by someone I know very well.



Sam Grimone sold the Blue Line just before a behind the scenes deal to bring Wall Mart to Saranac Lake was revealed. That doesn't mean he is a Satanist, though. Just in the political loop.



Donald Erland is indeed a vicious, dishonest man.- He ripped me off for over a thousand dollars on a HUD job.

i do have a story to tell...



I was a student in the 03-04 school yr at Paul Smiths, and on February, Friday the thirteenth of 2004, i was arrested for what seems to be the stupidest thing ever...



It was winter carnival at Saranac Lake and I was walking back to the car with a few buddies of mine...they had been drinking at the bar and i was supposed to give them a ride home...well, on the walk back, my friend started telling a rather exciting story about his days in the navy that had a few choice words, and a lady across the street was walking her kids back inside the house...mind you, it's already eleven in the evening...she seemed to be offended by the things my friend was saying and shouted at us to "watch her language in front of the children"...well my friend was drunk and he didn't like people telling him what to do so he told the lady what he thought of her...the short story of what happened after that is that we ended up spending a night in county jail with bail set at $1250 each...



HERES THE PROBLEM...



I'll admit that my friend shouldn't have run his mouth but the actions taken by the SLPD were just ludicrous...heres a nice list..



1.) When the police came to arrest us they came in full force with about 5 cars...just to arrest a bunch of loudmouth college kids...



2.) We were still walking away from the incident obviously intending no physical harm, yet the police still decided to pursue us...



3.) When we were arrested, the police did nothing whatsoever to try to investigate the situation...we were all just thrown in the cars and no one asked US any questions...



4.) When my friend who had been running his mouth made a smartass comment to one of the officers, i personally saw that officer pick him up by the handcuffs, and slam his face on to the cop car with such force that my friend almost bounced back into the officers face...



5.)AFTER we had been handcuffed and thrown in the cars, not one officer read any of us (There were four of us in seperate cars)our Miranda rights...I was a member of a competitive government team, and our teacher taught us the if Miranda rights are not read, then the charges can easily be influenced by the police...FURTHERMORE, when i sat in the back of the car on the ride back to the station, i calmly asked the officer what i was being charged with and he stupidly replied, "We're not quite sure yet."



6.) I remind you that it was my friend doing all the cursing and mouthing off, but for some reason the cops decided to throw all four of us in jail...They charged all of us with, Endangering the Welfare of A Child, (A serious misdemeanor) and Disorderly conduct...Furthermore knowing full well that we were broke college students, and also all first time offenders, the judge (Thomas Glover) decided to make our bail 1250 dollars...Thats absurd, especially considering we were all from out of state, and that someone was going to have to bail us out...I ended up having to have my grandma drive from massena to bail me out with money she had been saving for a vacation...the same grandma that was paying for my college education as well...point being: they release first time drunk drivers and wife beaters on their own recognisance, and i got 1250 dollar bail as a first time offender of doing nothing...



7.) The final act of stupidity taken by the SLPD, is that after our arraignment, they decided to send us to county jail rather then let us stay the night at the village jail, probably because one of the cells was filled with boxes due to their extreme sloppiness and misorganization...Franklin County Jail was in Malone, 50 miles away, and for the poor paddy wagon driver that had to come pick us up thats 100 miles round trip...IN A SNOW STORM...when he picked us up and we told him the story, he agreed that it was the most ridiculous waste of manpower and taxdollars he's ever seen...



....Thats only some of the stupidity taken by the SLPD that evening...I seriously hope that some day someone will be able to destroy the facist system of small town justice that goes on there...as for me, i decided to get the hell out of Dodge and moved back to Indiana...

After having a conversation with one of my professors about government corruption, I decided to check it out on the web. I had heard about this website and this posting but never really looked at it. Quite a lot going on here. I read this with reservation because I sense extreme bias. Please don't take this as an insult. Many things in the above reports are true. 2) I don't know about Sam Grimone's finances. It is not my, our any of our business. Even if he was, so what? I don't know if this makes him immoral.



3) Okay, Chris had a kid. Again, is this our business? Chris is his own man and will, like all of us, make mistakes throughout life. From what I know of the Grimones, it would not be like them to just not pay. Like I said, I do not know the facts of this situation and don't feel it is my business but it sounds like there is more to this story. If it was true, how does this make Sam immoral? If Chris was 17, maybe his father would have some responsibility, but he is much older.



Many of your accusations are true and should be dealt with. I applaud your guts to come out and say what many people think but are afraid to admit. Just so you know, I think I am an educated, neutral reader and this report looks a lot like propaganda. For example, the picture of Perryman and Hitler was not necessary and will definitely enters doubt into the reader's mind about the validity of the content. There is much other corruption in this community that you haven't covered, as I am sure you know. I feel that it is a citizen's duty to be respectful of officials and authorities at all time. I know how frustrating it can be to have a person in power who abuses, or appears to abuse their power. Public officals entrusted with power need to be even more careful of even the appearance of impropriety. This just comes with the job.



Here in Wisc. there was a county DA who ruled supreme for more than 10 years. Do a Google for Joe Paulus and you can read all about it. I don't kow if I can post a link here, but if you get this link ( http://johnmaloney.org/paulus.html ) it will make some really interesting reading and maybe give you all a chance to find a solution.



Since I moved here just 4 years ago I don't know his whole history, but I had heard compaints. Not just from the "malecontents" but from others that were concerned that justice wasn't being served.



For those that don't have the time to search out the story, it seems as if DA Paulus was taking kickbacks from a particular lawyer to deal down cases. Since this is still in the investigative phase it should be taken as such... but, I wanted to give you people hope and let you know that what comes around, goes around.

With regard to the shortcomings of DA Jack Delehanty: I thought New York State District Attorneys were elected officials. Anyway, I have two ideas that might bring some relief.



If Mr. Delehanty is an elected official a group of Franklin County citizens need to sit down and talk with the County Chairman of what ever party Mr. Delehanty does NOT belong to. A viable opponent would, most likely, need to come from outside Franklin. Whether or not the County Chairman is willing to go along with this remains to be seen. I live about 70 miles from New York County (Manhattan.) I get the impression there are a lot of underpaid, abused and hard-working attorneys in New York County who would see the opportunity to bring justice to Franklin as a vindication of their professional existence. As to residency requirements, it's my understanding that a candidate need only be physically present in the County on election day.



For more immediate results or, if Mr. Delehanty is NOT elected: Has anyone thought of circulating a petition? The more greiveous and provable transgressions of Mr. Delehanty should be listed along with a request that Mr. Delehanty be removed. Needless to say, the more signatures the better. Send it to the New York State Attorney General (Elliott Spitzer??) I have a feeling this has been tried. If so, I'd like to know what happened.

I would like to start off by telling you that I am a fellow Tri-Lakes young person, now studying at Niagara University. I was sent a link to your Rip Off Report submission by a friend. Not being a fan of Perryman myself, i was intrigued and read your article.



Upon reading your submission i have a few comments i would like to make to you, not on the subject of political corruption, but on the way you are trying to prove your point.



Personally, i find it very difficult to find any proven, factual information in the things you have stated. I know you you may believe that you have presented what you say are "facts" and "truths", however you have not backed them up with any concrete evidence such as sources or references.



Are you trying to inform the community with a fair and educated opinion, or are you merely attempting to defame these individuals? I find the personal lives of these individuals irrelevant to subject matter. By making these slanderous statements, you are not only undermining your own intelligence, you are straying from your point. Moreover, i do not think you have even made a point in this article other than your hatred for these individuals. I understand every person has the right to their own opinion, and you are exercising that right in your article.



However, Intelligent individuals base their opinion on factual information, rational thinking, and civil behavior, not rumors and slanderous remarks. Please educate yourself first, and then educated the public if you feel the need.

How many parents went to the PD and told whoever was chief at the time, that if you didn't cut your bullshit that you were gonna get sued for harrassment? That happened numerous times I bet. And my oh my someone brought a law suit before you, and why did they get dropped? Cuz your a p***y. You are part of the law, but youre NOT the law. It wont take people much to find out what happened with those law suits and why they were dropped.



Oh so what if you were a supposive hero in Saratoga, You're no special than the good policemen around here, I'm sure they've put their lives in danger just to help someone. Hell, I tried to save a man who was having a heart-attack, but unfortunately died. Very commendable that you have given CPR to a baby, pulled people from cars, and putting your life on the line. This is what you get paid for. Your true colors have already been revealed. When the last big earthquake happened in California, street derelicts were pronounced heroes for rescuing people and pets from crumbling buildings. People risk their lives everyday. Even for no pay. Even you want to look like a hero.



One of the many people who have taken part in this investigation is an existing police officer. He says, you turn his stomach and it's cops like you that give police everywhere a bad name. This officer is not the officer we have referred to in interviews we have spoken of in this report.

I have been reading other reports on this web site. It looks like the best way to handle this would be to organize a protest. Something radical needs to be done.



Unfortunately the local news papers hands are tied, if they could do so, they would be reporting this, well, some of it anyway. They are good papers and informative, but only to a point. If they rock the boat too much, it will cost them. Like everything else, it's based on the almighty dollar.

Saranac Lake not letting Saratoga know about your past, is like a school letting a teacher who had sex with a minor or committed another type of crime, allowing them to resign or just walk away with NO "marks in their file" so they won't have to expend money and escaping embarrassment, instead, they let you go to another community to commit the same crimes all over again. Isn't that true Mr. InFerior? Tell me your not still trying to pick up on underaged girls?



In our opinion, schools and police departments alike, just like Saranac Lake should be held responsible if they let a school teacher or police officer go unpunished or with no marks in their employee file. Marking these files, warning other communities they go to, on what they have to keep an eye out for, before they give them a second chance is imperative.



Schools or police departments who intentionally kept this out of the employee file should pay damages to victims in the future.

We agree with you on one thing. Police do put themselves on the line every day, but, we also say, Police Officers should be paid 8 times more than what they get, and, they could never be thanked enough or even paid enough to do the job they do.

QUESTION:

Hey Mr. Delehanty, tell us so we all know.

How many times did it take yo to pass the bar exam? I would not want to misstate the true facts. Was it 3 times or 4 times it took you to pass the New York Sate bar exam?



QUESTION:

How many times a week do you drive beyond the legal limit under the influence of alcohol?



QUESTION:

How many times have you used your powers to protect your own where they should have been locked up and legally punished for the very thing you prosecute others for?



QUESTION:

You stated the authors of the report will ruin innocent peoples lives.

Tell us. How many lives do you think you have ruined by either ignorance or by your abuse of power?

Who of those people mentioned do you feel are innocent?

If the report is false, why would it hurt anyone if the community knows these people so well?

Yesterday, while searching the Internet for information in the Adirondacks, I came across a very interesting story on an interesting website about our communities. Apparently some citizens have reported and responded on our communities corruption with an organization called badbusinessbureau.com which publishes the www.ripoffreport.com. If the Enterprise and our citizens have not seen this yet, they should. This is what I have to say in support of the articles and to the author(s).



I am not surprised at the results of your investigation of Chief Donald Perryman, DA Jack Delahenty, John Santy and so on. These power brokers have wreaked havoc for years on respectable citizens, poor and average. They do not know the meaning of honor or truth.



They wield their power with a sledge hammer, coming down on those who are unable to defend themselves, be they innocent or otherwise.



Truth, honor and the American way does not exist in Tupper Lake or Saranac Lakef for many.

Maybe that is why we have been a depressed area for so long. Outsiders are afraide to come here and do business. Our Reputain precedes itself.



The Rebuttal Jack Delhanty wrote to you, is nothing more than a mirror of himself!



Even the public defenders and Franklin County are ripping off the people who sustain them. They seldom speak or bother with their clients, yet quickly palm their paychecks. Then with the attitude, "lock-em-up and throw away the key ... next one."



Chief Perryman has no notion of what civil rights are. Some members of the Saranac Village Board now want to dissolve the police department. I surmise, due to all the controversy on Chief Perryman through the years. An honorable man would resign, and stop degrading the morale of the force.



John Santy was once a corrections officer, but that did not last long. He ran right back to Franklin County probation. Since he can be a big fish in a little sea. In corrections, he was only a little fish. The false and inaccurate probation reports he files, are an example, of the swinging sledgehammer.



There is so much corruption in our mountain area, we are rotting from with in.

I understand the idviduals who wrote those reports, keeping their anonymity, for you too, could fall victim, to the swinging sledge hammer.

It's funny reading the truth about our local "leaders" for once!

Every single one of these people mentioned in our community trying to make Saranac Lake or any other town, an "All-American City" are only trying to better themselves and their greedy lil fingers.



There are so many other people who are like Don Juan, Santy, and Delehanty in this community that we forget about so fast. We can't forget our once Harrietstown Supervisor, and prominent college professor, who was charged with sexual abuse, trespass, and God knows what else and pleaded guilty for an exchange of plea bargain. We all know Mr. Donelley (spelling) was forced to resign as Town Supervisor and retire early from Paul Smith's. It

was obvious to everyone in this town that knew him, also knew that he was having an affair with the woman that pressed charges against him. And it's a shame to see such "powerful" people go down like that.



If our community leaders don't shape up, they will end up like Mr. Donelley, and have a criminal record...gee I wonder how many actually do have one? I guess the term, "Birds of a feather flock together," is a true statement. But one by one like dominos, they all fall down. Donelley was the first one to go.

The above so-called "report" was evidently made anonymously. It is devoid of any truth whatsoever. Either the person submitting the material has irresponsibly repeated untested rumor and shabby local scuttlebutt or has intentionally hatched a design to injure our local public officials and businessmen and women. As none of the targets of the writer's wrath were contacted to verify the allegations against them, the latter conclusion appears warranted. Given the vitriolic character of the piece,
