Living Scriptures has excellent quality but very pricey ($36) religious cartoon videos and books.

However, you had better thoroughly read the fine contract print before signing. They WILL enforce such items as bad credit reports for late payments.

We found out the hard way, when two credit cards reduced their credit limit. Top reason: delinquent payments to Living Scriptures. This came about because their weird 4-week shipment interval results in due date creep. Messes up a monthly budget.

We were only a few days late on about 3-4 payments, due to date creep, also missed a month due to temporarily misplacing a shipment. We are never late on credit card payments, because the due date is always the same day each month.

Nor can the contract be cancelled for poor performance on their part. We tried once, after their back office messed up our account several ways (including putting our daughter's name on our account - she also has an account). Took a while to straighten out the mixed up shipments and figure out what we really owed.

My suggestion for consumers: buy only on promotionals or try EBay. Our kids were raised on Living Scriptures videos, and watched them over and over. Too bad the company doesn't practice what it teaches. We will not buy anything more from them.

Accountabilty and Responsibily

AUTHOR: Tommy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 21, 2004

To Reuben, As you have Likely have Seen My Report Already. I am a victim of This Company. My thoughts are that although The Contract is written out on paper, I do Believe Living Scriptures Does have the Obligation To Train their Sales Representives To explain thoroughly about the cost of this product. I can only imagine If a Sales Reprentive got a hold of A Facility Housing blind or disabled People. How would People see them Ripping them off. This Company has no problem with it. As Long as it is written on paper and signed right.

Personaly I would like to see Living Scriptures Held Liable for Failing to Inform Consumers of the True cost. I would like to see any Consumer That has been ripped off from them given Compensation. I see it is that there has to be more to it than Paper and Ink. Good Luck

To Reuben: You are lucky, in my opinion

I have also had bad luck. Maybe they give preferencial treatment to you limeys. :/]

Part of my bitterness comes from the fact that I did try to call them and make an arrangement and I was billed late for items not received. They mix up their shipments and have little accountability. I had one gal not able to identify from their records what was shipped to me.

They do business illegally in states, obtaining church records to make sales calls. I guess this is one church rule they wink at. They have ruined my otherwise spotless credit and hypocritically steal by billing for items not sent?

Reuben, count your blessings, but do not diminish our situation just because it didn't happen to you.

Living scriptures

I've read the comments made concerning Living Scriptures.

Reading any contract is a given, and is not rocket science.

Regarding their four week delivery system, I had a subscription for their LDS Church history tapes and found that their delivery date didn't do well for my budget, it came too late.

What to do?

Simple, I called them and asked them to move the delivery date.

No muss. No Fuss.

Like I said, it's not rocket science.

The products are good and are, for the most part, worth the money.

Anyone who signs a contract without reading it first, or questioning anything about it prior to signing, is setting themselves up for a fall.
