As a former employee of Dell Computers prior to enrolling at BCTI which I only did as a means to prove I had an EDUCATION in computers. (A worthless pursuit under the situation.) After BCTI closed I discovered several fraudulent activities. I have since joined the class action lawsuit here in Washington State. (Like the very next day.) I have also discovered that BCTI had two seperate financial accounts on me and I thank God that the US Department of Education has released me from all Federal Student loans (what a great phone call that was.) However I am now dealing with Monterey Financial Services, who I doubt realized what BCTI was up to when they bought out all the student loans prior to the closure of the company.

BCTI was using illegal software keys to setup student computers for use in class. On more than one occasion they actually allowed some to setup personal computers with Windows 2000 Professional using the same hacked keys.
I installed Mandrake Linux 10.1 on one persons (fellow student's) computer and they stated she should bring it in and they will replace it with an "illegal" copy of Windows 2000.

I have reported the use of my keys to my lawyer and if Microsoft gets involved (hope, hope, pray, pray) Those involved such as the Deans and higher ups will find themselves where they belong, behind bars.

Sold Loans Upon graduation, BCTI always sold its 'BCTI' loans

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 30, 2005

In answer to Jerry about which loans were sold and how to get them forgiven, this is what I can tell you:

Upon graduation, BCTI always sold its 'BCTI' loans to a 3rd party (Monterrey, I think). It was used as one of the sales pressure tactics to get students to goto Phase 2....."If you don't go into Phase 2 right away, your loans will come due.....but if you enroll right now, you won't have any payments until later"

Students who received federal money (Pell / Stafford) should contact the US department of education to start the process of getting those cancelled.

If you are unsure about what kind of loan you had, look at the interest rate. If it is sky-high above 20%, then it was a BCTI loan.
(I believe it was like 22%). Maybe there is an ex-funding specialist reading this that would know about getting money back from the sold loans?

Good Luck ---

The Private BCTI Loans were sold to Monterey Financial

AUTHOR: Shaun - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 30, 2005

The private BCTI loans were the ones sold to Monterey Finacial Services in Carlsbad, CA.

I have sent them a letter myself stating I will not make payments until the State determines how much I actually owe. I also stated that I am involved in the class action lawsuit as well. If you haven't joined it I suggest you do. A quick search in the Pierce County legal register will get you the info you need as well.

BCTI primary owners will most likely be behind bars soon enough.

There is a court date on April 1st (Friday) and I am hoping to hear from the law office afterwards on the outcome of the initial court preceedings. I believe one of the motions is to have Monterey cease and decist all collections on BCTI private loans until the mess can be sorted out but I'm not sure on that.

Shaun, I attended BCTI in Lacey as well, i just want to know which loans were sold to that finance company.

AUTHOR: Jerry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 30, 2005

I am glad that BCTI closed down. I felt like I was wasting my time and that no one at the school really cared about their students.

Shaun, you said that some of your student loans were forgiven. The last I heard from them was that they would send me a form to fill out. I would appreciate any info that could help with that situation.

As far as being happy about the closure, I was embarrased about the school and would not tell people that I was attending bcti. I did learn but when I thought about my 10,000 dollar debt I would cringe and get a sick feeling in my stomach. So the closing of the school was a gift to the current students and any one else that will not have to pay their loans.

I have talked to the lawyer about the class action suit and I am glad that someone had the courage to sue. The way that students were recruited and the type of students that were enrolled was a red flag to me. I feel horrible for them and encourage everyone to contact the law firm that is bringing the suit against the owners of bcti. They are crooked individuals and hopefully they will get what they deserve.
