I bought a 99 Dakota club cab with 21k miles on it. It still had the 3 year 36k mile warranty plus I purchased the 7 year 75k mile warranty. I have had this truck into Dodge or Chrysler dealers for the same repair 5 times.
After the 4th attempt to repair the rearend I thought it was fixed because I could not hear the howling. Less than 100 miles after that repair the rear end locked completely up. After sitting on the side of the the road for 2 hour before they sent a wrecker after the truck and myself I got a copy of the last repair order it stated on the repair order that they pulled the interior out of the truck and insulated it to hide the noise hence no howling or any road noise as far as that goes. That was ordered by Chrysler zone tech not the dealer.
I was told to turn the radio up, not to drive at certain speeds and all kind of "BS" to hide the problem not fix it. Since it locked up I am leary about driving the truck but I have to use it for transportation. I have talked to these people untill I am blue in the face.
This is a safety issue because I do not know when it is going to lock up again. Autonation Dodge of Grand Prairie Teaxs where I bought the truck are the sorriest people on the planet. During the rear end woes I took it in to have some bad shock absorbers replaced because they were leaking and was refused service because they said they were gas shocks and do not have oil in them to leak. That was the biggest joke I had ever heard. When they found out it was my truck that they would not fix the rear end they would not touch it.
No wonder why Damlier Chrtysler is having finacial problems. I would not reccomend purchasing any Damlier Chrysler product be cause you will be stuck with an unsafe vehicle that they will not do anything about.
By the way I took it to another Chrysler dealer to have the shocks fixed. They had had to order them because they do not work on trucks but they were replaced and all 4 shocks were bad contrary to what Autonation Dodge had tried to pull.
Damlier Chrysler has deep pockets but it gives them no right to step all over customers that put their faith in them and their warranties. The only thing is warn people about their practices I can't afford legal representation I'm stuck paying for an unsafe truck.
BUYER BEWARE EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A WARRANTY DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL HONOR IT!!!!
