After our unsavory experience with Pavlos Angelatos and "World Wide Source" we get a call from someone representing these people. They claim we owe them (yep, you guessed it, $399.95) for a directory listing that we did not order or authorize in the first place. They also claim we have a multi-year contract with them and start to put the pressure on.
But wait! These people are far more gracious than Pavlos and his bunch. We can get out of our "contract" if we purchase their overpriced "Digital Trade Show Guide CD-Rom Companion for only $149.00 plus $15.00 shipping and handling.
We have our suspicions as to a connection with "World Wide Source." After all, the Attorney Generals of several states are putting the screws to Mr. Angelatos' original operation. By the way, "World Wide Source" now operates with this New York address:
World Wide Source
1080 Military Turnpike
Plattsburgh, NY 12901
Please instruct ALL people in your company who answer the phone to refuse to talk to these people. That way you will save yourself a lot of hassle. They can't provide a written, signed contract like your legitimate directories. You are under no obligation to a liar even if he does try to make you feel like you owe him something. If you get harassed by these "directory" people, your state Attorney General should be contacted. They know all about them.

Now to you at rip off I understand that George Haligua is a greasy con artist, and in most situations I agree, knowing him personally...
He is disrespectful to those under him and disruptive to all those around him.
Regardless the man is a human, and seeing that he is a human and an attempt was made on his life than he and others around him do deserve a few answers.
Well I have one, the identity of the man who put the warning contract out on this man.
Another person who has been ripped off by George Haligua in a different way, randy misurak former partner and lifetime con. at a later time I will send the hard evidence of this report but for now tah, tah.

Merchant Retail Supplies

This company will call you up and tell you they've reserved a case of your credit card machine supplies 'at the old price' and just need your address to send it. Watch out! The price will be much higher than your regular suppliers.
What you don't know is that they have already 'gone fishing' by calling your company and taking a survey of the equipment you use. Using this information they have called back with your case 'at the old price.' They are PRETENDING to be your regular supplier.
What you also don't know (until now) is that they share the same address in Montral AND Massachussetts (400 W Cummings) as IT Data Direct. This is the same set up that Albert Mouyal had with Hansen Publishing and Merchant Paper Supplies.
Watch out for both of these scam companies.

Phonebusters Reports Telemarketing Shooting at IT Data Direct
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, March 29, 2004
This appeared on the Phonebusters Website in The Gazette:
Telemarketing Shooting
MONTREAL -- January 19, 2004 -- Three men are recovering after they were wounded yesterday by a volley of bullets inside a Dcarie Blvd. office building, Montreal police say.
The shooting took place in the offices of Aventis Technologies Corp. The three victims - a man age 23, a man in his 30s, and George Haligua, 48, described by numerous employees as the president of Aventis Technologies - were in stable condition in a hospital, recuperating from gunshot wounds. A woman suffering nervous shock was also treated at a hospital.
The gunmen emerged from the Aventis offices after the shooting and calmly left through the front door, police said.
Police are looking for three white men, in their 40s or early 50s, as suspects in this case, said Constable Miguel Alston, a police spokesperson.
The Aventis building, between Vzina St. and Plamondon Ave., at the north end of Dcarie Blvd., was crawling with police officers yesterday. Investigators were hopeful surveillance cameras inside the building and at the entrance caught images of the trio of gun-men.
Aventis Technologies is listed as a call-handling centre for private companies. It also provides financing and leasing services for computers and home electronics.
The three gunmen arrived at the office about 1:30 p.m. One man asked the receptionist for a specific individual. While she was trying to reach him on the telephone, the two others burst into the offices behind her and an argument ensued. Employees reported hearing gunshots, Alston said.
The three gunmen appear to have escaped on foot. Police do not have a description of a getaway vehicle.
The victims were all shot in the legs. Their injuries were described as not life-threatening. "Is it a message they wanted to send? Our investigators are looking into it," Alston said.
Another employee told The Gazette that in recent weeks, the head of Aventis Technologies had hired bodyguards for protection. A police spokesperson said last night it was too early to confirm the motive for the shooting.
One employee who was on the third floor of the building reported hearing gunshots. Staff were then herded out of the building. "It wasn't long after 1:30, maybe 1:45, and after that we left the building," said an employee, who identified himself only as Chris.
Alston said police were also hopeful that witnesses would provide more information. While there were 200 people inside the building, not everyone was on the floor where the shooting occurred.

Sent George Haligua a Thirty Day Letter and Have Not Heard From Him, Still Suspect a Connection with World Wide Source, American Solutions Information, Ameri-Source Publications and Pavlos Angelatos
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, April 10, 2003
If a company is located in Massachussetts you can send a "Thirty Day Letter" which gives the business thirty days in which to prove the legitimacy of their claim and makes it illegal for them to contact you other than for that specific purpose. The following is the letter we sent by registered mail to Mr. Haligua at the Massachussetts address since we did not have the "real" address. The phony "second notices" have stopped and we have not heard from this company by phone for almost a month. We also enclosed a copy of the Vermont settlement with World Wide Source "as a courtesy." Our letter follows:
++++++++++++++++++++++++
George Haligua, President 03/13/03
I.T. Data Direct, Inc.
400 W. Cummings Pk., Ste. 1575
Woburn, MA 01801
Dear Mr.Haligua:
I am writing to you under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 93A, Section 9, the Consumer Protection Act. I am writing to request relief as outlined in that statute.
On or about February 19,2003, the following occurred:
A representative of your company called and asked if I wanted to renew a directory listing. Since we had no information on your company in our database, and had no record of any transactions, I was puzzled. Your representative claimed I had an account balance of $399.95 and that our company was signed up for two more years of this recurring charge. The representative graciously offered to cancel everything if we ordered some CD from you for $149.00 plus $15.00 shipping and handling.
We have had problems with a company called World Wide Source out of Montreal Canada who uses the same line (and the same amount: $399.95). The Attorney General of Vermont has barred them from using their Vermont P.O. box and they paid a substantial settlement. Missouri has a case pending with them.
I believe this type of coercive telemarketing and reduction of nonexistent charges is declared unlawful by Section 2 of Chapter 93A, which declares unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce unlawful. Our company is listed in legitimate directories with whom we have signed contracts and receive regular printed statements.
This letter serves as my request for the following relief: In the absence of a signed contract for your product or services, please consider account#NNNNN closed and cancel invoice #NNNNN-N. Any items you ship will be refused/returned with your shipper (you also failed to provide notice of the legally mandated right to cancel). You will place our company on your do not call list and shall not contact us again by phone, fax, courier, electronic mail or in person. You have thirty days to provide written evidence that there was indeed a signed contract and any other communication shall be considered harassment and shall be reported to the authorities for prosecution under applicable Virginia, Massachussetts and Federal Statutes and U.S. Postal regulations for mail fraud.
Sincerely,
Advertisers above have met our
strict standards for business conduct.
