I bought a washer and dryer through the Home Depot based in part on the rebates. I was denied my $75 gift card rebate with a form letter stating the documents I sent were unclear, the product was not eligible, etc. I sent everything in clear detail and in total compliance.
Home Depot has a fulfillment company that handles these rebates - it is:

Outcome of all complaints -
Resolved: 1420; Reason
Company resolved the complaint issues. The consumer acknowledged acceptance to the BBB
Perhaps this is a resolution. I see from the ripoff report that there are a great many others who have also not received their rebates. I hope the BBB can assist.
One way to prevent this is through class action. The attorneys get the best benefit of it, but it costs the companies horrific amounts. Best of all, sometimes the judge awards injunctive relief preventing them from doing certain things or better still, they have to pay the suing attorney to oversee their continuing business.
Let's try the BBB and see what happens.
Good luck.

According to your post it seems you never bothered to contact the rebate center regarding your rejection.
They could of fixed the problem for you by phone if you kept copies of your documents.
As for the store giving you the money that is fine but maybe next time you should call the rebate center and fix the problem because I will guarantee 99% that if something is wrong with your rebate it was something you forgot to do, or your documents were missing, etc.
As for the other 1% the "slip of the finger" may happen but is not frequent. But again you could have called and had it taken care of.

OK, after getting the run around from the "fulfillment" company, CONTINENTAL PROMOTION GROUP, I was very upset. I was in town today and even though I read about how some of the other stores were less than helpful, I went to the customer service desk at the Austin Home Depot off I-35. They fixed everything, took care of my rebate gift card and were nothing but gracious. The assistant manager (didn't even have to go to the store manager) listened to me politely, asked a few questions, and agreed to take care of it. He looked at the rejection I received, and he said "It doesn't even specify why they turned you down." He mentioned that I was not the first customer with this problem, and he told his customer service folks to take copies of my papers and to start a file.
He included my printouts from here, as he agreed that there seemed to be more than just the isolated case based on the info here. I have to say, I just politely asked and then it was all done - they re-rang and gave me the credit on the store card. LOL, of course I spent it immediately, and I was very impressed with their courtesy and kindness. THANK YOU HOME DEPOT. And for Ripoffreport.com, it certainly seemed to make an impression on the folks there at customer service that this wasn't an isolated incident, and I sure hope they let the rest of the company know how CONTINENTAL PROMOTION GROUP ran us around, and that they aren't good for Home Depot's customers.
