Writers Universe ripoff book rep won't respond Wilmington North Carolina

I first worked with John in April of 2004 when I was looking for additional ways to get my books into chains and generate sales. He sent out an e-mail that said he would get orders for books in book store chains and libraries. In his e-mails, he said once the books were in the stores, I would get reorders and it would be smooth sailing after that. He said I shouldn't see many returns and that libraries would jump all over the my book.

We had several phone conversations in early May where he talked about getting orders and I supplied him with several sample books and background information about me and the book. He thought the initial orders would be 100 books or more, and that more would follow as reorders.

I signed an agreement on May 10 and sent him a check for the $500.00 fee. Between May 13 and August 28 he sent e-mails stating that there were orders for between 200 and 250 books.

Yet, most of those orders never came and he has refused to refund and money or secure the orders he said were placed. He has refused to be accountable for his actions. I'm at a huge loss because I make very little per book. I am asking for a full refund of the $500.00 unless he can get the orders for the 200 plus books he told me were already placed. He also refused to respond to the proof and e-mails I sent to his local Better Business Bureau in Myrtle Beach, SC.
