THE PHOTO SAYS IT ALL
I purchased a set of Pro Comp X-terrain 33x12.50x17, Load Range D, from 4 Wheel Parts. At only 5,000 miles my truck began to pull to one side of the road, so I took it back to 4 Wheel Parts and spent even more money for a second alignment. At about 7,000 miles I noticed a small vibration, which was intermittent making it extremely difficult to locate what was causing it and where it was coming from. The mechanics at 4 Wheel Parts couldn't here anything at all.
Later that weekend, I and my girlfriend loaded up our new jet skis and headed up for the lake, when both front tire treads separated causing us to go off the road and crash. My truck had minor damage, but our new jet skis were destroyed and my girlfriend would not stop crying.
I contacted 4 Wheel Parts along with Pro Comp Tires about a week later(800) 776-0767 . They told me that I had exceeded the design weight limitations of their tires, which was a crock. Not only were they not responsible for any damages, they were not going to even replace the brand new DEFECTIVE TIRES I had purchased. I AM LIVID!!
If this has happened to you and/or you know anyone who has had Pro Comp Defect problems, such as Bulges, Severe Tire Pulls, and/or Tire Tread Separations please file a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below:

A Torrent of Internet Complaints Reveal a Major Defect Problem With Pro Comp A/T's Made By Cooper Tires, Which Pro Comp is Owned/Operated by 4 Wheel Parts.
Yet another consumer tire complaint has been retrieved from forum below:
Ain't had any problems with the 4WP in Austin, bought my 3in ProComp for the Ram there, $600 for a stage 1 kit.
sorry, but I allways knew those ProComp's were s**t. I knew a guy that ran 35s on his 86 Chubby, things were gone in less than 5,000 miles. I put over 55K, almost got 60K, on my BFG muds (rotated every other oil change)
Author comment:
I'll be 100% honest with everyone, 4 Wheel Parts has excellent selection and cheap prices, and the service is just like a SWAP MEET. Others have said that 4WP is a SWAP MEET with make up, take the make up off and you see the *%#**#%
Everything is great until something goes very, very wrong.

State Agency Unleashes 15 Violations Upon 4 Wheel Parts
AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, January 01, 2005
The State Agency, Bureau of Automotive Repair has completed their several month long Fraud investigation into the company known as 4 Wheel Parts Performance Centers/Transamerican Auto Parts Inc. This company operates a nationwide chain of off-road stores, Including but not limited to the SELLING of Factory Truck Warranties Redeemable At All Major Nationwide Dealerships, and is also in the business of selling aftermarket parts/accessories to dealerships nationwide.
Several questionable issues delayed and/or interfered with the State Agencies abilities to complete their full investigation into this business entities transactions/conduct. One such example was the, Failure to produce documents/invoices in timely manner and/or the deliberate withholding of these documents to gain a strategic advantage, which is a violation of the business and professions code.
President Gregory W. Adler of 4 Wheel Parts Performance Centers/Transamerican Auto Parts Inc. has vehemently denied any wrong doing to date and has stated via the internet that, The customer is number one at 4 Wheel Parts.
However, his statement completely contradicts his companies Nationwide Better Business Bureau Company Reliability Reports of having an Unsatisfactory Performance Record which the report includes the following specifics below:
*Delivery Issues,*Difficulty Obtaining Refunds,*Overcharging,*Poor Installation,
*Poor Customer Service,*Billing Disputes,*Failure to Deliver *Ordered Merchandise *Missing Items, and Incorrect Items.
All of the BBB's Company Reliability Reports on 4WP/Transamerican Auto Parts along with incriminating documents, invoices, etc., can be obtained at the following VERY IMPORANT LINK BELOW:
www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff112163.htm
Furthermore, Mr. Gregory W. Adler's statement of, The Customer is Number 1 is once again contradicted by the 15 Violations issued by the State Agency, Bureau of Automotive Repair.
This is just some of the following State Agencies final report violation subject matter that will be available:
Written False and Misleading Statements etc.
Failure to Provide Written and Revised Signed Estimates etc.
Charging for Items Not Specifically Described etc.
Installation of Non-Calibrated (Zero-Mile) Odometer, installed on factory leased trucks.
Several severe offenses were committed by 4WP; unfortunately no enforcement action was taken, due to the fact that there are no laws/enforcement regulations and/or legislation on the books to date.
The State Investigator audited the annual idler arm sales records between a major GM dealership and 4 Wheel Parts. Service Manager stated (name withheld), That after approximately (600) 1500 series idler arms were sold to 4 Wheel Parts, they began to return them for credit/exchange. Service Manager continued, I know that you are not installing these parts on factory stock trucks, but installing them on trucks with larger wheels and tires that puts a huge strain/wear on these parts causing them to wear prematurely.
Not only am I going to stop crediting you these idler arm parts, I'm going to stop selling them to you altogether. 4 Wheel Parts were purchasing factory stock parts and stating that they were Heavy Duty to handle larger wheels and tires. ANOTHER VIOLATION issued by the State Agency.
10 other violations were issued that were similar in nature.
This 15 violation State Agency report has been brought to you at terrible cost and sacrifice to me. Pro Comp Trying to Hide Tire Defect Problem
AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, October 31, 2004
Contact Pro Comp directly. A friend of mine had almost 20,000 on his Pro Comp M/Ts and the same problem as you guys. He developed bulges and then his tires separated on him.
He contacted them directly and ended up getting a COMPLETELY NEW set delivered to his house for free. They even forgot to pickup his old ones and I ended up buying them for $50 then resold them for a trail rig for $200.
Here's there direct contact information below:

$100.00 Tire Warranty Not Being Honored/Scams--ripoff
AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 30, 2004
I had pro-comps on my 2000 Dodge Durango, I bought the warranty with the tires, drove it to Utah one summer and had a blowout at 70 mph the tire only had 5k miles on it the front tire also had a blister on the sidewall when the tow truck picked us up after 8 hours of waiting, he asked how old the tires were, I said about 4 months old, he laughed and said "you guys did pretty good, I've seen blowouts on these tires after 1 month
you get what you pay for I guess
btw, I never got reimbursed for the 2 tires cause I left them in Utah, the co. wanted to see them, I had the tire company that removed them call and send pics but they denied all claims they said I should have kept the tires..... I was on vacation with 2 kids and 2 dogs WHERE THE HELL WAS I GOING TO PUT 2 TIRES.
----------------------------------------------
I guess I should have said a little more. The tread pattern is exactly like the BFG's. In fact, that's what they did, they put them side by side and said to me that there was no difference. I did cut the side wall on one after having them for 2 weeks. 4 wheel fawk ups wouldn't even think about replacing it, even with their warranty. I had them and ran them only for 3,000 miles on an isuzu trooper, then sold them to my roomy.
Jungle
-------------------------------------------
They've screwed me too many times. I ordered my 37's from, them and they took a month so I called to find out that they had shipped them to somewhere in AZ. So apparently someone there got a free set of 37" MT/R's. I finally fought with them for about 2 months or so, and reported them to the BBB so I got my tires eventually. I got that stupid a*s tire warranty also, and my tires had about 8k before they developed bulges on them and they wouldn't replace mine either.
One of the guys at the OKC store here even tried to tell me that my Cherokee had torsion bar front suspension. LOL I dunno if he's just stupid or if he was looking up the wrong vehicle. He even ARGUED with me about it for 5 minutes...
Rockyroad
-----------------------------------------
I haven't had any probs with 4Wheel Parts in terms of returning defective parts. I got a set of Rockrawler Rims from them and they were all beten up, scratched, and dirty, so I sent them back and got a brand new set. The only real thing that I could complain about is their shipping times and prices.
I thought about getting Procomps, but heard a lot of bad stuff about them and have a friend that had the treads separate on his F-350 SD, truck is fine and he is fine, luckily happened at a slow speed. I checked around and made sure that I got tires that were tested for the load that I needed, I found Interco's new Trxus M/T had a very high load rating(+3600lbs) on each tire. Pretty high from what I could see . I don't tow anything, but I can say that Interco does make quality tires.
-James. New York
--------------------------------------------
Again thanks for the update......Luckily my friend saw your post before spending thousands at 4 Wheel Parts. I also have purchased tires from Discount tires....when there was a problem they stepped forward and corrected it. I can guarantee from the experience that you had I will never shop at 4 Wheel parts.....

every time they have a buy 3 get 1 free sale on pro comp tires, they jack the price of the tire up $30+.

4 Wheel Parts - Pro Comp Tires - Cooper Tires Rip-Off Defective tires - fraud, cover-up, dangerous product, dishonest
AUTHOR: Shawn - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 30, 2004
My truck came with Procomp tires on it. I have always kept the pressure at 50 lbs as recommended. I am a mechanic and have a compressor at home, so it is not a problem. Last year, I was drivinig down a highway when a tire threw the tread. The tire did not blow out. The tread just spun around the rim tearing up the rear right side of the truck until it completely came off. I almost lost control from the impacts of the tire against the truck. The tire still had 50 lbs of air when I took it off. It had 50 lbs when I had it taken off the next morning for a replacement.
Procomp would not pay for damages from a faulty tire unless I sent the tire to them. I call my insurance and they paid for the damage but asked that I send the tire to procomp for them to look at. Procomp's report stated that the tire was exploded by a sharp object cutting the steel belts causing a blowout. That the tread was thrown off because of no air in the tire because of the blowout. That is a pure lie. The tire did not blow out. They would not send the tire back to me. I was going to turn it into the department of highways. Procomp covered up the fact that their tires are defective.
Almost flipped my truck with my 5 year old in it on the freeway at 70. The tread was kicking the tail end up in the air really bad. Basically tore the right quarter panel off the truck. Even broke the tail light and the bumper.

Another Crash from Pro Comp Tire Separation
AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 30, 2004
I love to see a shock company make tires
I just got off the phone with a freind that was hauling his Case 580 backhoe to a job and had both front tires just split tread on him. The truck is totaled and the trailer also.
The 580 will need some work. He called 4 wheel parts and they told him that they will not warrenty them due to heavy loads.
He bought the tires because he had a gift certificate at their store some tires. They said they were E rated tires. So he got them 1500 miles later no truck, no trailer, no 2004 backhoe, and no help from their tire warranty.
All I can say is BFG all the way. Never had a problem with the 12 sets I have owned in 10 years.

My Pro Comp Tires Seperated On Me As Well
AUTHOR: Brian - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 30, 2004
I bought a set of Pro Comp ATs, 33x12.50x17, from Discount Tire in AZ. At a bit over 25k miles, the two fronts were developing significant tread separations and the rears were starting to go as well.
Discount contacted Pro Comp and also the manufacturer (Cooper I believe), and neither company would warranty the tires. In the end, with no arguments, Discount stepped up and gave me a 50% trade-in allowance on the full price of the tires towards a new set of BFGs. The tires had been regularly rotated and always run with good pressure on an 01 GMC HD. No more Pro Comps for me, but Discount Tire has a customer for life.

Defective Pro Comp Tires, Replaced them at 15K
AUTHOR: Hunter - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 30, 2004
I bought a set of Xterrains for my Dmax and had nothing but problems. Drifting, front end shakes & tire wear. I pulled them off after 15k. Yes I got them from 4WP. I've had issues with them in the past, but there's no other place to go.. I know better than to buy from them.
They did the lift on my 1/2 ton and they told me 35" tires would fit no problem with this lift. Two days later I crushed the finders. They told me........well most people don't go offroading when they get a lift. I took the manager for a ride and found the deepest ditch I could find to show him the problem. All they would do is buy me a set of finder flares to cover the damage. I was hot.... They really need to get it together...
