I enrolled my daughter in this school, paid in full over $5000.00 and the contract said that we would get a laptop, printer, plasma TV and $200.00. And most importantly support from teachers!

Complaint Description: I enrolled my daughter in this school back in May of 2007. Paid the entire amount. Was promised the above items along with her education. It took until August to get the laptop. We wanted to start the schooling right away. It couldnt happen because we needed the laptop. After "fighting" with Dana Williams I finally got the laptop. And still have not gotten anything else. My daughter tries to sign on to the "school" to do work and most of the time the website is down. The reason she is going to this school is so she can graduate early. She will never be able to do this when she cant get to her work. I have sent email after email and made many phone calls to the school. Spoke with Dana and was promised this and that and never any follow through on her end. I tried contacting someone else and Dana didnt like that and then my calls were not taken at all.

My last email to her was that I wanted a full refund and she could have this laptop back. And once again I have not heard back from her at all. I told her in that email I would be contacting authorities. Apparently she doesnt care if I do. Recently she gave me yet another number to call, I did this and guess what? I never got a call back. What a surprise!! I have let the BBB know and also State Government.

crescent prep high school, virtual high school of excellence, dana williams, crescent prepatory high school

AUTHOR: Pauline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 09, 2009

I am dead on with this one i checked them out and my daughter went there and like the earlier comment they took my money at virtual high school of excellence which dana williams ran, then i went over to crescent prepratory high school which dana williams ran and was the owner and every time it was nothing but lies, teachers not getting paid, both schools websites down for extended periods of time, not getting transcripts to transfer credits, etc etc etc
Dana Williams is a thief and a liar who stole my money at Virtual High School of Excellence and then at Crescent Prepatory High School out of Davie and Fort Lauderdale Florida now I hear she operates out of Pembroke Pines what a scam she is. I checked with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools where Virtual High School was supposed to be accredited, but they took Virtual High Schools accreditation away because Dana Williams mislead them surprise surprise. She is a scam and so is Crescent Prepatory High School, Crescent Prep and Virtual High School of Excellence just check the court records in Broward County you will see where she is being sued for stealing stuff from her partners and stealing the company.

You need to be aware that there are various crescent prep schools in the state of florida. I had 2 children who was enrolled in crescent preparatory high school .. so when you don't clarify what exactly which school you are talking about... you damage the credibality of the other crescent schools. My daughters started in Sept. for their senior year and graduated in Dec. they had a good time and loved it. they got their diplomas and the school was the best there was. So please, watch what you say!

I STRONGLY DISAGREE.........................

AUTHOR: Mother Of Crescent Prep Student - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I have been a homeschool mom for 12 years. Due to illness I had to find a way to get the benefit of homeschooling and not be the main person to make the lessons and grade and all the record keeping. I spent several weeks researching one program after another. Contrasting and comparing. My educational standards are very high. I want the most challenging curricullum and regular schedule.
Crescent prep stood out to meet our criteria.
Since that period of inquiry/investigation, we choose Crescent Prep for our oldest daughter. We have not a single regret to date. Now this our 3rd month into the high school college prep program. My expectations have been well met. I am pleased with the education she is receiving. I have had some issues with tech things and have been met with immed curteous service. If my daughter had an issue during her lessons there was again a teacher/support person to work it thru with her to resolution.
She enjoys her lessons, well as much as any child will admit. There are supplemental materials for many of the lessons as well. Varies formats for presentations---text/videos/links to other web sites.
And the price, what a blessing that is as well.
SO far I would have to say that Crescent Prep has met all of my rigid standards for a homeschool education. And to boot, they are accredited so no worries now about having a "diploma" that we had with our oldest daughter who is now in college. (minor issue that was resolved, but one which needent have even happened)
God bless
TX Mom

I was told about this report by one of the counselors and he asked if I had any problems with us and If I would respond as a concerned parent. When I read what was said I hadn't had that experience and felt terrible that such bad things were being said, because I've had nothing but a good experience. I told the counselor I would do my best to give my perception of Crescent Preparatory because it has been good and other parents should be aware of the positive and not these negative comments. I always feel there are two sides to every story and my experience has been nothing but superb. So, with that I currently have a son enrolled with Crescent Preparatory High school and I have never seen a school more on the ball then the folks over there. They have made their services user friendly and I even have my own way to check in on my son to make sure he is doing the work that is required of him. Even if I didn't have a way of logging in on their site as a parent, I would still know what he is doing and how he is progressing because I get progress reports e-mailed to me to let me know how he is doing in his classes. I tell you what, I am fortunate that they didn't have this type of technology around when I was kid, because I would have been in a lot of a trouble with my folks. In all seriousness my son is a sophomore at Crescent Preparatory and he will graduate from Crescent Preparatory. They have never given me any issues at all. They are very patient and willing to go the that extra step to make the kids learn as well as give me an understanding of how the on-line high school works in regards to my son. I never thought home schooling would work, Crescent Prep made a beliver out of me. I will certainly spead the word and tell friends and co workers that Crescent Prep is the way to go.

I am a parent of a student enrolled in Crescent Preparatory High School and I have had a very positive experience.

AUTHOR: Trudy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 13, 2008

I was looking into alternative schooling for my daughter back in 2007, and had requested more information from several online schools. Crescent Preparatory was the first school to get back to me. I was very impressed by their quick response. Some of the other schools I had inquired with took over a week to respond and others never responded. I had several conversations with a few different enrollment counselors, and I was again impressed by how courteous and helpful they were. Whenever I had a question or concern, they promptly responded to my emails and phone calls. I then decided to do some research online to see what information I could find when I came across this report. I was very discouraged after reading this negative review, and decided to look into it a little further. I proceeded to contact the Board of Education as well as several accrediting agencies which Crescent Preparatory had claimed to be certified with. After extensive research, this is what I learned.
Crescent Preparatory High School was started back in 2003. At the time, the school was funded by many different investors, Dana Williams merely ran the school and acted as the front person. It was these investors that weren't fulfilling their financial obligations which is why many teachers never got paid, and is also why many promises to parents and students weren't being fulfilled. Dana received the brunt of these complaints because she was the front and had to attempt to resolve all the complaints. Because of this, Dana broke away from the company but needed to hold onto the name for accreditation purposes. Many of the accreditation boards require a certain length of time in business before they will accredit an online school. Instead of starting again from scratch, they held onto the name Crescent Preparatory High School.
I then proceeded to contact students currently enrolled in the program. Crescent Preparatory did not hesitate to send me contact information and references of students currently enrolled in the program. They also sent me all the information I needed to verify their accreditation with all the boards they are certified with. When I asked them about the issue addressed in this report they were upfront with me and did not try to hide anything. Compared to all the other online schools I had researched, they responded faster to all my concerns and were more helpful and more affordable.
After viewing the demonstration on their program, and after all my research, I decided to enroll my daughter. This was about 8 months ago, and I have been nothing short of impressed. Whenever I have had an issue or concern, they have been quick to address it. They are usually available late in the evenings which is when my daughter is online doing her work, and we have even been able to speak with their representatives on Saturday. My daughter has had full teacher support through email, and has spoken to her instructor several times over the phone. When the teacher was not immediately available, Crescent has a staff of enrollment and guidance counselors available, many of which are also certified teachers and quick to offer their assistance. Whenever I have had a technical issue with a video or audio assignment, their technical department has walked me through it and resolved the issue. Before you make a decision based upon ONE negative experience that one parent/student had with a previous incarnation of a company, do your own research. Crescent Preparatory has thousands of students enrolled, and has thousands of students that have already completed the program and received their diploma. If these issues were still occurring, I would think there would be many more complaints.

Wow....$5000 ?? My 16 year old grand daughter went to the local community college and received her GED for $65. Might be a good option for you, too, depending on what's available in NY.
