I found 86th Street PhotoVideo had the best price on a Canon SD 800 Digital Camera. Some web site said they had a 5 star rating. Since I have been through this before with NY Camera dealers I called in the order rather than do it online. The old trick is when you place the order online these outfits send you an E-mail asking you to call them to confirm the order. They then try to sell you batteries and memory cards or some "package deal" at very high prices. When you tell them that you don't need the items they give you the pitch that the camera will only take about 10 photos with the card and battery that come with it. After telling them that you don't need those items they take the order. Knowing the way this works I asked they guy if there was anything else I should know because they had such a good price (US warrantee, not refurbished, available for prompt shipment) he said no that the item was as represented and would ship in a couple day.

Several days after giving them the order I called to get a tracking number and was told that the item was back ordered and would not ship for two weeks. At the same time sent them an E-mail asking for a tracking number. Two days later they replied to my E-mail saying that the item was back ordered and that it would be 4-5 weeks before shipping. I found the camera elsewhere from a reliable dealer (Amazon) for $50 more and placed the order with them called 86th Street and canceled the order, asked for the cancelation to be confirmed by E-mail which they did immediately. While on the phone and in a reply E-mail I let them know what a bunch of crooks they are. When I received the E-mail cancelation it showed www.Wisetronics.com on the E-mail so I assume there is some connection with them and 86th street. It seems like I have been through this same deal with Wisetronics before.

The web site for 86th Street photo still shows the item available for 1-2 day shipment. The hope for a good deal always lures me by I think that I am now convinced that I will never get shipment on any of these "good deals" so will only by from legitimate online companies like (((ROR REDACTED))).
