To my shock I opened my credit card statement today to find the charge from Google Adwords

I couln't believe it, I had not advertised with Google Adwords in over 12 months, probably more like 12 months. I paused my account, because I felt I was the victim of fraud.

Well, today, I was charged for advertising by Google Adwords Advertising which I never authorized. Somehow my account with Google had been reactivated, and clicks had started to accrue. I am not talking a million dollars but several hundred dollars.

Google Adwords responded quickly when I complained, but the response was a joke. Google said that I only cancelled the account today, what are you complaining about. Their customer service representative was very rude - which is typical of these big internet companies like Google - they make it impossible to call them. They say they are all about "No evil" - well it should be no customer service.

Of course I cancelled the Google Adwords today, did they think I was going to leave it running forever - they would love that so they could continue to bill me without my knowledge.

It did not occur to them to look at the last 18 months and just see how many charges they had sent me, which was Nil.

So if you have a Google Adwords account that you have placed on hold, make sure that they haven't reactivated it.

If this is some sort of programming error from supposedly the kings of programming. Then what else can you trust them with? I read a report, where Google claims they only had a 0.02% fraud rate. Can you believe that!

Click fraud on Google Adwords is a huge problem - so is their 'secret' organic search algorithm. I hear they plan on making all the search results paid so they can make more money. Most of their non-Google Adwords initiatives have been a total failure, so they have to get growth from somewhere.

After today, I cannot believe anything Google says!

Even if I was so stupid as to leave the account active and ads running then how can they explain not sending me a single bill in the last 18 months.

And I know I'm not that stupid.

If you know anybody that has a Google Adwords account. That may be deactivated and therefore they are not expecting bills. Tell them to check that account, because they might be surprised to find it's been reactivated, probably in an attempt to boost their quarterly numbers.

Ok, I am glad to hear I am not the only one.

I stoped my google ad from adwords and 5 monts latter I found out that was still being charge and they will not re-inbuser me. Here is my story:

I just want to make everyone aware that that google adwords advertizing services can wipe your bank account clean, without you even knowing.

I was just testing google adwords hooked by a $100 dollar credit cupon they offer. I sighed up so I could use their $100 credit and test it out. After using up the $100 credit I disabled my ad. Six months latter I found out that I had been charged $1,644.

I called google Adwords to complain and talked to managment a few times. They were not able to remove my charges because they could not verify that I had pause my advertizing. I thought I deactivated my ad, but something went wrong and it was not properly deactivated, or they activated afterwords by error.

Googel adwords claims I never diativated my ad, so they will not give me a refund or credit. They could see that there was no activity in account for over 5 months. I never returned to google adwords because I thought I had deactivated my ad, but this was not enought for them. I told them that the website I was erroneously advertizing was dead, they still don't care. The month I deactivated my account I only had a $190 charge and every other months it was around $300, so to me that shows that I did deactivate my account. By now google adwords has added a new code to deactivate an ad, they have a pause and play option and they could not tell by the logs that I had ever paused my ad.

Bottom line, you have to be extreamly careful, if you accidently do not properly pause your add you will be charged for an infinite amount of time and they will not re-inburse you, this could cause you thausands or more if you have the buget in yoru bank account.

Google Adwords failed to send me a montly bill to make me aware of the charges. They could have easily send me an email every month with the charges and they would have made me aware that my ad had not been deativated. I believe that they should be responsible for sending a monthly charge statement but they don't believe they need to sending a monthly bill. I think they are wrong and I would love to have an attorney file a class action lawsuit for unethical bussiness practices. You can not just grab some ones credit card or bank info and charge them indefinitaly with out even sending them a bill with charges.

If there is an attorney that believes that google adwords is doing wrong and willing to make a class action lawsuit at no cost to me, please contact me or reply to post.

I may have a similar problem *NOTICE..!! this ripoff has nothing to do with Google search engine - many rip-off businesses use the Google name to fool consumers.

I was using Google Adwords during the first half of the year, but I paused every campaign. I wanted to start a new campaign now, Jan 09, but when I opened my account, I had over $4000 worth of clicks that they invoiced in October on a brand new campaign that was started up that I don't even rocognize. Luckily the credit card on file was expired, so they were unable to hit my card, but they tried several times, then in November, they zeroed out the balance through "invoice adjustments" and now I show a zero balance. I have no idea what is going on, but I am waiting to hear back from Google Adwords customer service on this issue. I am most likely a victim of fraud. We'll see how they handle this, and I will report here. I hope I don't have an experience like you did.
