NCC sent me a letter claiming I owe for a past due Verizon bill from 1992, in Alanama. I have never had a Verizon account, and this has been verified through Verizon. Also the Verizon representative advised me that Verizon did not have service in Alabama, back in 1992. The representative from Verizon, suggested I contact the credit reporting bureau they use to submit bad credit information, also to contact the FTC, I did both of these as suggested. I also contacted the united States Postal Service, they are have requested the NCC letter from me, and a letter explaining the situation. This Verizon representative also informed me that NCC and Commonwealth Financial Systems, are not on their list of companies they do business with when it comes to past due bills. This happened to me last year from the Boyijian Law Offices, claiming I owe a past due Verizon bill. So beware of these two companies, trying to rip people off with false past due accounts from people. Ehis is now a very common thing some companies are doing, according to the United States Postal representative I talked to said Companies like these send letters out, hoping to get hits and people pay them for something they do not owe. When I contacted NCC, and told them I never had a Verizon account, the guy on the phone told me to pay or be taken to court, so I said lets go to court. he then proceeded top name a list of telecommunication companies, he mentioned Sprint. I had a Sprint account years ago, do not owe them any past due amount, he said I do and to pay now, I just just laughed and said lets go to court.

Guns Blazing

AUTHOR: Paul - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 21, 2010

I have been contacted by Northeast Credit and Collections, NCC, a division of Commonwealth Financial Systems, Inc., about a debt owned by Taisha Espinoza (sic), of whom I have no relation or acquaintance (she had my phone number before I did).  NCC begins a deluge of telephone contacts about once every six months, and they have for the past two years.

The latest deluge is as follows:

Jan. 5, 2010 - 9:08 a.m.
Jan. 19, 2010 - 10:01 a.m.
Jan. 21, 2010 - 1:07 p.m.
Feb. 10, 2010 - 1:10 p.m.
Feb. 16, 2010 - 1:27 p.m.
Feb. 16, 2010 - 4:07 p.m. (I told the rep. to remove my number from their list)
Feb. 18, 2010 - 2:05 p.m.
Feb. 19, 2010 - 3:04 p.m.

On Friday, February 19, 2010, I was contacted by NCC not more than 72 hours after I asked to have my name removed from their database, and about 24 hours after I last received a telephone call from them.

I explained to the representative that I was not the person in question and was immediately disconnected.  I called back and demanded to speak to a supervisor, after which I was immediately disconnected once again.  I called back a third time and was told to "get lost" and then accused of lying and was harassed by the representative who tried to coerce me into admitting I knew this woman.

Go in guns blazing!  I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, which informed me that they have heard of agencies such as NCC in the past.  I contacted the Better Business Bureau, filing a complaint with them, as well as the Attorneys General of the State of Florida (where the call originated) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (where NCC is headquartered).  Afterwards, I dialed NCC's number back and asked to speak to John Kotula (the CEO), and was transferred to his secretary.  In n uncertain terms, I told her that I had filed complaints with these agencies and would take further legal action if I was to endure this type of harassment ever again.  The secretary seemed very apologetic and sincere, but do not cave into any kind of pressure.  Do not speak with their legal department, as the secretary wanted me to.  Tell them that you will be contacting them in writing or through an attorney.  Be firm:  as the CEO, Mr. Kotula is ultimately responsible for the actions of his company.  Raise as big of a stink as you possibly can to drill it into these people's heads that the harassment needs to stop.  A simple phone call to have your number removed from their database will not work.  You need to beat it into their heads that you are not the person in question, and that you do not owe them any money.

If necessary, contact an attorney after all of the above steps fail, and file suit against NCC for harassment and emotional distress.  I would be more than happy to participate in a class-action suit against NCC, to hopefully bankrupt this shady organization.

Go to the website www.attorneygeneral.gov. That is the site of PA Attorney General. Not only will they help with resolving your issue but they will keep records on the company. If enough people who are subjected to this file complaints the Attorney General can and will take action.

You still missed the point

Whether NCC is NCO, the point is as I have mentioned in this report, is that I have never had an account with any of these companies in Alabama. I never lived in Alabama in the 90s. As I mentioned also Verizon has never heard of your NCC, or Common Wealth, if NCO is part of these companies, then it seems to me that Verizon would know that have mentioned that to me, or said that NCo is the company. I can prove I was using a Florida address, since I worked driving semi's from all 48 states and canada, I used Florida as my home address(es).

Since I have written your company NCC, that Verizon shows me as no customer whether with the companies they bought or with Verizon. Your calls to me have stopped, I was in the the process of charging your companby with harassment, which I was advised by the States Attorney generals office I can do, will do if I have to. I have a case started with the Utah States Attorney Generals Office, for Idenity theft. as my post mentions one of your representatives went down a list naming communication companies when I mentioned I had an account with one of thos companies, he goes will you owe them, and will pay. This told me you people just read company names off, if you get a yes, you claim we owe. I can prove and will prove in court if I have to that I never lived in Alamba in the 980s. This is what your compoany cannnot seem to get into your heads.

Just cause my Social security number was used does not mean I was the one who attained and did not paid for these services.

Can't Fake It

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

These accounts are not false accounts. They are labeled as Verizon because they are the current company. They are old GTE Corp or Bell Atlantic accounts. As to the fact that Verizon has never heard of the company it is because Verizon/GTE Corp/Bell Atlantic sold the account. They sold it to a collection agency called NCO Financial Systems. They are the agency that currently ownes your debt. When company's sell debt they sell the paper as well, meaning, that If you have a Verizon account and you let it go delinquent and they sell the account they sell everything on the account. Which means after you recieve a collection letter and call up Verizon as in the above situation they never heard of the person's account.
