In the begginig i had went to cottman for a free 21 point inspection, to see what was wrong with the car.

So the manager started with taking it for a test drive, when he returned he refused to return my car keys.

He said it was very unsafe and he would feel responsible if i were killed in the vehicle when i left.

He then told me he would do an inspection and he would call me and tell me what was wrong with the car.

When he called me a few days later he had said that my van was in pieces and that it was going to cost me 349.00$ to put it back together without repair.

After i had told him numerous times that i did not have the money to fix it, i had told him only to run a diagnostics test, not take it apart.

He then told me he could get me financed,i said no because my credit was bad.

He said to give him the last four digits of my social security number and he Could get me financed, and work on something for getting my car back.

When we spoke next he told me that the last four digits of my social were the ok for him to do the work.

Throughout this entire problem i have not signed anything, and never authorized anything but a diagnostics test.

After that he had said to me that it was going to cost me 1650.00$ plus tax to fix it.

I then asked the man how am i going to pay that I had told you before that i could not pay the 349.00$ .He told me again that i could make payments,Only this time he told me that the car was being held for the entire amount.

He told me that he would keep my car for as long as it took. Then he threatened me at work over the phone that he was going to go get a mechanical lean for my title.

I brought it to his shop on October 18 and made one payment of 200.00 until final payment on november 23.

When I sent my son to pick up the car he had to deal with the same rude man he talked to was the one who kept harrassing me over payments.

When he was getting the van a mechanic told him they rebuilt the transmission and that was it, that it still needed a tune up.

He then tells me on the way home the van is in worse condition and shape than it was before, and died on him in the middle of a highway.

I tried to contact the office the day of the occurance and no one answered. And now i am 1764.00 in the whole, have missed incredible amounts of work because of it
went through several harrasing phone calls over a months time, and it is still not fixed.

I still have no vehicle and need help with this.If anyone reads this please contact me if you know of anything that may help.thank you.

I was lucky, in that I have the means to inspect the work performed to my vehicle, thus I could verify with minimal cost that my suspicions were correct in that they did no work to my transmission.

My recommendation is to document everything you have. Make basically a letter, in chronological order, stating the events by each date. Only facts. Don't vent in this documentation. Try to get the shop to fix their errors, and document what happens. If you get no resolution, take your facts to the Police Department over on Adams St. and make a report with them, submitting your facts. If you can have another mechanic inspect the work, that would also be good.

Take the same information, and go to small claims court to get your money back.
