On 4-28-2005 I Purchased a 2000 Jaguar XJ8L from Bob Howard Toyota for $21,900. I traded in my new 2005 Nissan Altima for this car. Their Saleperson Kelson and Used car manager Ming totally misrepresented this car to get me to purchase it. I was told it was a one owner mint condition Jaguar that went through a 160 point inspection and was in excellent working condition. I have this car less than 72 hours and it is dead in the driveway. I go get a new battery it works for a day then dead again. I jump it and I take it to the shop get a tune up, oil change, engine flush and it works for 24 hours then dead again.
So Ming says to bring it back and the service department will look at it, I had to tow it to them at my expense. They keep it for a week and call me to tell me they can not find anything wrong with the vehicle, I was very perplexed but went to pick it up. I had not even drove it 3 miles and it dies while going home from the dealership.
I call Ming on my cell phone and told him I was stranded and he brought me a jeep to drive home but left my car on the side of the street and told me if I wanted to bring it back to the dealership I was going to have pay to have it towed. I could not believe this kind of service but I paid to have my Jaguar towed back to the dealership again.
They call me two days later and tell me they think the alternator could be bad but we would have to pay about $800 to have them fix it. I said well you sold me a warranty for $2500 put it on the warranty. Ming said well sir you just bought the car and the warranty has not gone into effect it takes up to thirty days so you will have to pay.
I told him I just gave you $2000 down on this car and took out a almost $24,000 loan for this car with the warranty and you won't make this right? He said "No Sorry that what you get when you buy a used car". I told him I only bought this car because you mislead me and told me what a good car this was. He told me to get off the dealerships property. So I had my car towed to Jaguar Of Oklahoma City and paid almost $1000 to have it fixed.
I have the car for one week and all the electrical starts shorting out. Seats won't move, ignition wont turn over, car alarm comes on all by it self all the time, the data registry keeps coming on and flashing everything in the registry. The stereo plays when it wants too. So I take it back to Jaguar of OKC and they tell me it could up to two thousand dollars to search down the electrical short it just depends on how long it takes them to find it. That shorts are very hard to track. And then they tell me the worst news of all that almost every part of that car has been wrecked. It has had a new hood, the driver side drivers door and rear door have been painted. The passenger side rear door has been painted. Both mirrors have been repaired and painted and there is still paint on the black plastic where they did not bother to take the mirror apart to spray it. So now I have a car that has been almost completely wrecked and with severe mechanical problems that they sold me a full market value.
I am paying $640 a month and cannot drive because the electrical is so messed up that most days the kill switch on the security system keeps my car from starting. And when it does run all the bells and whistles are going off while I'am driving it. So I bypass Ming and go to Mr Cross, and he tells me just come up here and pick out something you like and we will get you out of the car.
I go up there and Kelson is waitng for me at the door and says there is only one car on the dealership we can sell you because we bought it cheap and it is this white 2004 Toyota Camry for $17,995. I drove it and told him I did not like it but you have another car for the same price it was a Toyota SUV he said let me present it to Ming and see what he can do. Ming said I will have to put several thousand down on anything even the Camry because I can only give you $15,000 for your Jaguar we just sold you and nothing will hold your $8000 negative equity. I said you sold me a car that has very little market value at all at full market price and lied and misrepresented the car to sell it to me and I was driving a brand new car when I came to this place.
Ming ordered me off the premises. I still have my wrecked dead jaguar in my driveway that I'am paying $640 a month for. And my 16 year old daughter is taking me back to forth to work in her car. So how is that for a car deal? And, Also this one owner car has had 4 owners in 5 Years. Imagine that!
