Arrow Financial Services LLC (AFS) is a totally inconsiderate Collection Agency.

I settled an account with Captial One Bank through AFS for $700 ($50 on Feb 1 and $650 on Feb. 25). I was told that I could call within up to 8 hours before the money was due to be withdrawn out of my account to tell them to stop payment on the account. I called them on Feb. 20th, which is 5 days before the money was to be withdrawn, and told them that I had an emergency with my son and I needed them to stop payment on the account, and confirmed with a letter.

They agreed to do so, but after continuosly trying to make me not cancel the payment. The guy actually caught and attitude with me. When I asked him was the payment stopped, he answered with an "uh hum" instead of a clear "yes Ms. Chestnut".

On Monday, Feb. 24, the collector from the agency called me and told me that his boss told me that I had to pay at least half of the settlement. I was like no, I can't pay anything and asked again to make sure that payment was going to be stopped on the account. He told me yes and I thought everything was over.

I checked my bank account on the 28th of Feb. only to find that the basterds withdrew the money anyway, despite the issue I was having with my children at the time. When I called to ask about it, I was given attitude from everyone at the company (over my d**n money). I was told that I had to wait three weeks for them to refund the money back into my account.

I was told by someone at the corporation that all the representative that handled the account have to do was refund the money and it would take 48 to 72 hours. So my son children suffer because their mother don't have the money to handle the things that she needs to handle.

I called the representative involved with my account on March 10 to check the status of the situation. He was very rude and ask the same dumb question "don't you want to settle this account". I actually had to tell him how nasty he was being and explain to him what being a single mother was about of which he found was very funny.

Has anyone had the same or similar problem with this company? I think we need to get together and put them out of business.

A Website of Interest

AUTHOR: Ruby - (U.S.A.)

I read your complaints about this freaking company and I have to say they are the worse company I have ever dealt with. I found a website that you may find interesting about AFS. Take a look and see what you think.

I've written Arrow Financial Services 11 times!!

AUTHOR: Ron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 15, 2006

I have written Capital One a total of 13 times regarding arranging a payment schedule for my account. I have written Arrow Financial Services a total of 11 times. All these letters have been sent in the past four months. I have gotten two computer generated responses from Capital One and one computer generated response from Arrow Financial Services. I owe approximately $350 and I'm behind in payments due to an illess last year and no income for 8 months.

Here's my 10th letter to Arrow Financial:

February 15, 2006

Arrow Financial Services
5996 W. Touhy Avenue
Niles, IL 60714

Dear Sir or Madame:

By my count, this is the tenth letter I have sent to you at this address via US Mail. I have never had the courtesy of a personal or prompt response. The previous two letters sent to Arrow Financial Services were via Certified Mail. I have confirmed you received my last letters on 1-25-06 and 2-10-06 and still you have not given me the courtesy of a response.

It's not often that I resort to begging a financial company to do something. I have repeatedly presented you and Capital One with what I consider to be an extremely generous settlement offer to rid myself of this debt and allow Capital One to close this account as settled.

Last month I wrote my thirteenth letter to Capital One. They never answer. I have to have a papertrail to prove I've tried to rectify this debt. You and Capital One simply chose never, ever, EVER to respond.

Once again, please review my settlement offer. I would like to resolve this debt. Please allow me to pay Capital One. I need Arrow Financial Services to apparently communicate my desire to pay my debt to Capital One.

Again, my settlement offer is still on the table. In case you forgot:

stop accruing interest on my account

eliminate all late fees and over limit fees

eliminate all interest and fees whatsoever]

reduce total amount due to $250

allow me to make five $50 payments per month
starting April1, 2006

remove all negative references in all three credit reports.

I am on Social Security and a disability pension for a terminal illness. None of my income can be garnished or attached per Federal and State Laws. I have no assets whatsover that you can
place a lien upon. My montly liabilities always exceed my monthly income; I knowyou're in business to make a profit, and not in the business of making terminally ill people have easier lives.

Please acknowledge my offer, even if you don't accept it. It's called "professional courtesy."

Looking forward to sending you letter #11...
END OF LETTER

*****************

I've sent this letter 10 times now. Twice sent by Certified Mail and I confirmed their receipt. I've tried calling. They don't want to discuss anything except "immediate payment in full."

I want to honor my credit obligations. I want to pay this bill. Why are they making it so hard? I've reported Arrow Financial Services to the FTC and Washington State Attorney General. I believe they are avoiding me in an attempt to write off this loan.

*************

After the first phone call or two, I suggest all communication be in writing. I have a papertrail to prove my earnest efforts to resolve this debt.

Good luck...these guys aren't pros...they're idiots who aren't doing the consumer or the original creditor any good!

#2 Author of original report

I finally get my money back about 4 weeks later.

AUTHOR: Natalie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 11, 2003

I was the lady from Fort Lauderdale that was mistreated by the employees at Arrow Financial Services. I did, however, finally get my money back (about 4 weeks later).

I have a possible solution to anyone who is having problems with a collection agency. Request in writing to the original creditor that you would like to resolve the account, but you will not deal with the current collection agency. They will look into the matter and change the agency to do the collecting or collect the debt theirself.

Or, you can wait until another agency buys the account and deal with them. Unfortunately this ruins your credit score.

I chose the latter of the two and was dealing with this great representative from FMS. She gave me a better settlement and also worked with me when I did have a problem. She gave me the choice to either continue with the scheduled payment or change the payment (but she also ensured me that she would do everything she can so that I wouldn't loose the settlement, but there were no guarantees). Because of her kindness, I highly recommend any corportation trying to collect a debt to deal with FMS. They are the best.

#1 Consumer Comment

I can relate to the rip-off

AUTHOR: Jess - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 01, 2003

I have had the same experience as the single mother ripped off in Florida. I have a debt that is in the process of being paid off with Arrow Financial services. I called the day before the payment was supposed to be withdrawn from my account and told them that I had some unexpected bills that had to be paid. I asked them if I could stop payment and double up on the next month's payment. I was told by Mr. Tom Castillo that that would not be a problem and he told me he was noting that on my account. Sure enough, two days later my account was debited. When I called AFS to ask what was going on, I got attitude from everyone. I spoke to Alex Dee, Michael Johnson and a Mrs. Roberts and all three called me a liar, told me I was a bad parent and needed to stop bouncing checks, and were just rude. When I told them that I had proof and asked them to read the comments on my account they read that I asked to stop the check and was told that it could not be done. Apparently, Mr Castillo realized his mistake and decided to cover his tracks by changing my account. Anyway, I don't know what I am going to do about the situation because I absolutely refuse to give my hard-earned money to people like that (even at the risk of my credit rating). I'm just happy ( or sad depending on how you look at it) to know that I am not the only one who they have ripped off.
