I had shocks put on my Blazer in 1999 with a lifetime warranty. Upon returning in 2007 to have them replaced under the warranty, the repair manager, or whatever, would not honor the warranty and tried to charge me 300 dollars for new ones. In 1999 they cost 132 dollars out the door. So Sears is telling me there is 150 % inflation in their prices in 7 years? Not only that but they waon't sell any shocks but the LT shocks which have a terrible ride.

Story is missing some information

AUTHOR: Nick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Sounds like you're leaving out some info. Judging from the price, it sounds like you bought the Monroe Gas-matics, or a set of entry level shocks. If so, they only come with a 6 year warranty. Also, did you pay for installation the first time or did you do it your self?

When we have a customer with a warranty issue, we can't warranty out the shocks unless we determine them to be bad. Such as leaking, broken, or not functioning properly. This is a lifetime warranty, not lifetime replacement. Just because you have a cruddy ride doesn't mean the shocks are defective.

And do you really expect a price on a item to not rise in 8 years? So, for now on when I go to the gas station I'm going to *&*& at the manager because when I started driving in 1998, I was paying $1.29/gallon and the price shouldn't go up in 9 years.

Check your Sears "lifetime warranty" carefully for gotchas

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 23, 2007

and if the warranty promises what you think it had promised, go to another Sears or contact corporate. Sears does not need bad press.

I had a Sears "lifetime warranty" on some gas charged shocks that died c1987 and Sears replaced them, but the replacement shocks were black while the original gas charged shocks were silver. They kept the warranty agreement. I guess the customer only got one replacement under that warrranty and the "lifetime" referred to was not the customer's lifetime.

Ditto a "lifetime warrantied" exhaust system on the same car. The exhaust was replaced for free under the warranty and then they kept the warranty agreement. No more free replacement systems. I had to buy 4 more exhaust systems before someone hit that car and their insurance bought it from me.

Now I drive Toyota Camrys and I do not have to replace shocks and exhaust systems, even after driving the Camry 300,000 miles.
