I purchased a 1969 Dodge Charger, 383 big block, 32k miles, tan interior with the roll bar, push gaurd, etc. to match the original General Lee car used in the Dukes of Hazzard movies. I was assured this replica muscle car would be a dream come true from a salesman named Oscar in October of 2006 along with a verbal agreement that it would be delivered to me by December 1st, 2006 for a Christmas surprise gift, at a premium price of course.
Half way through this sale, I found the other rip-off report at
this link: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff187211.htm
where I frantically called Oscar several times before he answered his phone and assured me that this would not happen to me... but it did!!!
Prior to this sale, I was sent many quality photo's showing me a perfect inside and outside photo's of what my General Lee would look like when it was finished, as well as many verbal promises of how they supply cars to the movies and speaches continued about all the satisfied customers who buy their cars sight unseen, the BS was put on thick up until the check cleared and the sale was final. From here I had to practically beg to get any updates or photos, answers to my emails or voice messages were very few and far between. After, many many many disappointing phone calls my car was delivered February 2007, yes thats right over 3 months late where Oscar then tried to charge me for the free shipping he originally promised to include. After that phone arguement the car arrived the next day, my worse fears of bad quality quickly became reality and I have all the photos to prove this rip off.
This newly painted "premium priced" car was delivered to me on a open trailer pulled behind an old pickup truck for 7 hours with no car cover in the worst salt and winter condition of the season. The delivery guy barely got it started and quickly pulled / coasted into my garage and shut it off, Handed me the keys and rushed to leave. I decided to unlock the trunk to find the whole key / lock assembly was lose, to where it fell out and droped to the floor? I raced to stop John from leaving where he helped me use a screw driver to open my trunk, John stated they put a side door lock in the trunk hole? which would never work.
I continued my inspection and found:
ENGINE:
1.) Missing Air Cleaner / Filter system (See Photo exhibit-A)
2.) Missing Radiator Over-Flow Tank & Hose system (See Photo exhibit-H)
3.) Missing Windshield Washer Tank, Motor & Hose System (See Photo exhibit-A)
4.) Missing Vacuum Hoses & system (See Photo exhibit-F)
5.) Damaged / Leaking Transmission? (See Photo exhibit-P & P2)
6.) Engine Issues: Starter sounds like its bad? Very difficult to won't start.
7.) Wimpy 2 barrel carb and intake of a big block 383
8.) Etc.
INTERIOR / EXTERIOR:
1.) Missing ALL Seat Belts (See Photo exhibit-E)
2.) Missing Door Keys and Center Console Keys (See Photo exhibit-C)
3.) Missing Trunk Lock & Key System (See Photo exhibit-I)
4.) Missing (1) Center Wheel Hub Sticker (See Photo exhibit-D)
5.) Missing Roll Bar Foam System
6.) Missing Heating / Air Conditioning system (See Photo exhibit-G)
7.) Missing Interior Dome Light
8.) Missing ALL Rubber Seals for Doors, Hood (See Photo exhibit-O)
9.) Damaged Interior Vents (See Photo exhibit-J)
10.) Damaged Driver Seat Bottom (See Photo exhibit-K)
11.) Damaged Passenger Seat Bottom (See Photo exhibit-L)
12.) Damaged Passenger Sun visor (See Photo exhibit-M)
13.) Damaged Trunk Seal (See Photo exhibit-N)
14.) Decals covering / hiding nasty paint chips
15.) Undercoating is hit and miss... some here... some there...
16.) Alignment?
17.) All side Windows missing weatherseals inside and out
18.) Tan interior was done with spray paint... what a mess
19.) Paint overspray on all the dash gauges
20.) Roll bar welds are very nasty and was also not bolted to the floor correctly
21.) Passenger Door glass so scratched that you can barely see out
22.) Decals covering body work crators and scratches
23.) Etc...
Lose bolts everywhere... This car is still not safe to drive without costing me a ton of money. I have sent several emails and phone cals to Oscar and his boss Hans Luedtke, but I keep getting excuses, false promises and more delays. I have demanded that the rest of my car be sent to me immediately as well as the damages to be fixed immediately... but now it looks like I will be forced to pursue legal action. While fixing this car myself.

You tried to blame someone else for your lack of due diligence?

You did not mention that you test drove the car, why wouldn't you check out the car for yourself or even have a mechanic look it over? If you could afford to pay a "premium price" for a "Christmas surprise gift" - you could afford to have a menchanic check it out.
It seems like you purchased a vehicle over the internet based upon "photo's showing a perfect inside and outside of what my General Lee would look like when it was finished". Did you ask for photo's of the vehicle in it's current condition?
You noted that you had a verbal agreement of a delivery date...why didn't you request the delivery date in writing? Did you ask or request in writing how the car was going to be delivered to you?
You also mention that half way through your purchase, you found a negative report - if you came across something like that why didn't you just cancel your purchase?
It appears that you purchased a vehicle sight unseen over the internet based upon photos that depict what the vehicle would look like all fixed up. It sounds like you you made a very pricey impulse purchase and then regretted that you didn't even obtain anything in writing and then you turn around and try to blame someone else for your lack of due diligence.

After, many complaints, this dealer sent me a few of my missing parts... Thank You!!!
However, when I went to change the transmission pan gasket, I found the leak was due to the use of a pointed wood screw that somebody installed in place of a case hardened transmission bolt. Obviously, the threads were stripped... I continued to drain the fluid and remove the pan and discovered large clumps of metal shavings in my fluid, filter and pan. This transmission has to be shot... but I can't drive the car to find out for sure.
I have concluded that it will cost me at least $5,000 to redo the motor and transmission... plus who knows how much to track down all my other missing parts.
I will continue to keep you posted either way... good or bad.
