I am now an EX Charter Communications Employee. Please go to AT&T. We were treated like dirt. We were told to lie to customers. We were forced to get you on worse deals without you even knowing it. Even if you called saying you had no money for food we had to talk you into keeping cable or risk being fired. We were penalized if we needed to go to the restroom. Last week someone in sales commited sucide over the stress of the job. They treat people so bad with scare tactics. People are so miserable there, its like a concentration camp. Please do not use Charter, go with any other Cable company. Like the other ex employee was telling you, we have exactly 7 minutes to get you off the phone or we are terminated. Casey is pure evil, a cold hearted supervsior with the devil boss Jeff Peterson. I could not stand lying to customers everyday. They forced us to say we feel your pain about having no money, no job with your children to feed. Even if we had no children we had to lie and say we did. I loved my customers but could stand lying to them. No wonder they went bankrupt, they got what they deserved. Go to At&t they are driving Charters to their knees and plus they have The NFL station. All I can say if you plan on working at Charter--run --unless you want to feel like your in Hitlers Germany.
Charter employee!

UNETHICAL ON EVERY LEVEL

Hi I am also an ex employee not only are all your statements true along with the others, the one who said the sales rep did not kill themselves is a LIE and most likely a supervisor covering up. I know of many others who were ready to kill themselves including myself. Charter destroyed my life, and discrimination and retaliated on every level. We are working together. If you've been hurt ask ripoff report for our contact info so we can write letters and testify on each other behalf its sick what they do and I cannot go into any further detail. But please ask for contact info so we can work together. support at report your employer dot com ....this is nationwide im in MI funny how accross the board to other employees we have never met can say the same thing. Also did any of you have 4 bomb threats while working there? or was that just us in MI.

I agree with Charter being horrible to its employees and customers. I worked at the FDL location for 2 years. I was fired for not coming in during an ice storm. I lived 62 miles away from the call center, I called in to work on a day when the WI HWY Dept said to not travel unless it was an emergency... Went to work the next day, and then got walked out. Thanks for caring about your employees Charter! And also, the call times, sales marks, etc... all true!

Down with Charter Communications

I was in sales and Ill tell you what is not a lie charter does push you and to get you burnt out. I find it that the Sups are trained to ask why you don't quit. There is not a day that goes by at charter that there is at least one metric that the Sups are yelling at you for even if youre the top in the call center. I also find it that half the employees go to the mental health care center for stress and its proven by doctors in Fond du Lac. You do 110% a day in fear of losing your job oh boy be darn be off by 3% and get terminated. Wow handle time is 10:30 thats high how long did you work there or are you a Sup that really dont have a call time? They didnt fire you yet for that hmm? More over yes you do get hit with bathroom breaks if youre in AUX or take yourself off the computer for too long and because you are monitored always youre better off pooping yourself than hearing it from the Sups why you got up. Especially if youre on a team that is a top team in the call center your pushed harder and to sell the customer every little thing you can get them with even slapping on extra stuff that they do not need funny thing is there are ways to say it back to the customer without them knowing what we put on the package but whats most evil is when the older people get on the phone it would be easy to hit them with a 250 dollar bill not right away but with triple play Wi-Fi networking and sugar coat it with 8tvs. The bill would be high down the road but not now with promo you can always down grade and change your plan anytime we have no Contracts >>>>I suck I know but there are more like myself still there .. As to someone killing themselves I Didnt hear anything about it but it does not mean it didnt happen! And if it did happen charter would not tell their employees or make it public because they know there employees are stress out as it is and they would not get any more people to work for them.. Down with charter..

To the person who called me a liar on the suicide ~you ARE the liar! You are trying too hide this from the public. I can give 20 ex-employees who faced the same amount of abuse I did in a very short period of time. I am not upset-in fact I was thrilled. I cried tears of joy to be free of this prison. My girlfriend was just off for 2 months for severe depression and stress from Charter. She went back with 2 doctors excuses and WAS FIRED! She also told me it was the happiest day of her life. We are no longer under Hitlers (Jeff's) control all while collecting 1600 a month in unemployment :):) I have never worked under a sadder group of people in my life.
In fact if you look in the newspaper everyday, EVERY single day they have an ad for retention. Hmmmmm no jobs but good old Charter. I was also told directly by unemployment no one is EVER denied unemployment from Charter. Everyone saw that every other statement agreed with me. One gentlemen even told you how close to suicide he came. Please do not go work at Charter, you will regret it. Go to AT&T where they treat customers and employees well. Investigate and ask EVERYONE about Charter. The only ones who were treated kindly was pretty tall blondes, which I am assuming is the one defending Charter. One day my supervisor ordered pizza, the only ones invited to eat pizza were the pretty blondes on his team.
Its a horrid place, just verify my information. I can't go into detail with my case any further because I am going after Charter for legal action. Good luck to the person who feels "safe" at your job....I pity you.

I'm also an ex-employee, and what you've said is all too true. The brainwashed retention agent above me is apparently one of the lucky ones. I worked video repair, and was flat-out told that my objective was to upgrade service, fixing the customer's issue is irrelevant as long as I get them to buy something, and to do it all in under 6.5 minutes or I'd lose my job. I came extremely close to committing suicide myself because I could not take being paid to literally steal people's money by selling them a service that I (and the customers!) knew was not worth a single red cent. I felt like a low-life thief, and I wanted to die because I'm by nature an honest person, and personal integrity is something I take very seriously. The only thing I did not experience was the penalty for bathroom breaks, but the rest of it? 100% true. I cried with relief the day I was laid off. (I'm now with AT&T doing ACTUAL customer service, and I couldn't be happier)

Not true....

This is not true...
It is obvious you left on, well not the greatest terms and you for some reason feel burned.
I, being a current employee heavily disagree with you.
I have NEVER been treated like dirt.
I have NEVER been penelized for going to the bathroom.
I have NEVER been told to lie to a customer, and fear losing my job if I did so.
My job is to disconnect a customers service if that is the will of the customer. We offer options to customers to reduce the service as well as promotion pricing to assist when possible upon anyones hardship.
7 minutes to to get a customer off of the phone or face termination? Not on this planet. That is a bold face lie. 7 minutes is a metric used to handle customer call flow. It is an average of all of your handle time through out the day/evening.
This evening I had 5 calls that lasted over 40 minutes each, because I was assiting them, listening to them, understanding them. My handle time for this evening was 9 minutes.
My average handle time is 10:30 as of today, and has never been much lower than that in my time at Charter.
I have absolutly no fear of being terminated because of this.
I do not know Casey, on a personal level, and cannot speak of him, obviously you had some issues, and that is why you would say those things.
Jeff Peterson is most certianly not the devil. I have had communication from Jeff to take calls that our transfered to our agents, that are not supposed to be transfered for the simply stated fact "It does not matter the nature of the call, we take it, we handle it" Reason is - that is our job.
A suicide in sales? I was most certianly an employee at that time and will tell you this is a lie. A bigger lie is that it is because Charter uses scare tactics. Rumor spreads like wild fire, in the cafe, at the smoke shack, at your desk. I know when someone 4 isles down probably, might have been thinking about, maybe buying string chesse from the vending machine. Never heard 1 word of someone commiting suicide. That is a bold statement to make on a public website.
Jeff Peterson is a good man. We have a great group of leaders that do nothing but 1 thing, and that is to focus on the total customer experience and make the customer leave with a positive feeling. I get awarded for this. Everyday.
In fact, this morning, I was trying to think of a way to say thank you to all of these people for the things they do. Its not possible to say thank you in a big enough way to actually show my appreciation for the things they do. The sad thing is, you know this, you know what you said is untrue, I need not mention this here, I dont need to you know what I say is true.
Anyone who reads this, please disregard as rubish. I have conveyed to many, Charter is a good company that does many good things for the customers and the employees.
I feel this someone who posted this had a bad experiance but I was floored to read the amount of untrue, disgusting statements made here because of this.
