This company is a classic craigslist scam. They post image only ads (with text embedded) with random real estate words below the image so their spam filters can't find it.
Once you call them they try to sucker you into paying $199 for year-long access to a database of pre-foreclosure homes. Their sales people are very aggressive and deceiving you (for example, the saleman promised a "100% money back, no questions asked" while the legal section of the site requires that you must have 5 written letters of rejection. You must wait 90 days to request a refund even though it will only take you a day or two to realize its a scam.
The "mailing address" is a UPS Store rented mailbox, always a good sign of a scam.

This company knows there is a lot of consumer rights sites against them and they have their employees post "satisfied customer" type posts, which all sound the same and are obviously phony. Their claim that competitors are trashing their name is bogus as all competitors in this industry are also scammers too.

This company is simply shady

I spoke to a representative on the phone after seeing their number on craigslist. Since I got the feeling of professionalism, I provided my card for $199. I was told it could be refundable after 90 days. If I was wrong about them, knew I could simply do a chargeback with my credit card company. After receiving an email & website for access, I dove right into checking it all out. In effort to keep this simple, it became abundantly clear to me within a couple hours that this was not what I had understood it to be. I called to cancel, stating it was not necessary to utilize 90 days. At first was told could not do so, then left on hold for a manager. A male called me back who said is a manager. He agreed to refund after 30 days minus a 10% processing fee which in his mind equals $175. He asked if I read the Terms of Service. I advised such was irrelevant due to receiving that after providing my card info. While he conducted himself professionally in behavior, the intellect was lacking in the spirit of ethics. I am not surprised to view such a poorly written rebuttal from their company. The grammar & spelling is abysmal. The notion of blaming employees for not following script is inexcusable. The premise of commission is moot. In summary, I can say with 100% confidence that everyone should avoid this company. I would recommend doing a chargeback immediately & highly advise to not await the refund.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. I saw this same thing on our Craigslist here in Hawaii, called them, assured there was "no catch", but luckily, told them I'd call them back after I did some research. I figured if it sounded too good to be true... I will be reporting them to Craigslist as well. Again, thank you

Is It scam

This program is not a scam now as far as the Representative not given you the full information that is not the company's fault. When you work for american standard online you are not getting paid hourly. You getting paid off commission and just in case you don't know what that means. If you don't make a sell your not getting paid. So alot of our Representative think its easier to make up there own script then reading the script that was given to use from our company. On the script it states that it takes 30 days to move into the home and you will also be re-ambursted with your money after 90 days if we cant place you into a home. Now as a previous sales person for the company I can sit here and defend the company all day. Now be smart and think about it we have been around for nine solid years and we are still in business we must be a legit company. I have never heard of a large company scamming people and lasting as long as we have and not being shut down by any agency. We do have some rude Representative who figure if your not going to enroll in our program why waste their time with all the questions and doubt when they could just move on to the next calling customer who may be willing to buy. This is a job based on commission so you must remember that time is money. We are a program that is secured and certified by thawte so as far as us being a scam...... well that's on you

My unpleasant experience...

I normally don't go out of my way to write comments or reviews but I thought this was necessary to inform other people the process with this company or if i was extremely unlucky.
The background:
Firstly like many others my girlfriend and i were looking to upgrade where we were living coming from a 1/1 apt and alot of new apts that were 2/2 were pricey and a new home would be less and would help rebuild our credit. This sounded like a great deal and the processing fee was $199 and would be "automatically refunded after 90 days or would be credited to the home we took over payments for." How do you turn that down? I guess you would if you read the reviews for the company.
Setting up acct:
So excited, my girlfriend and I both agreed to move forward. After 24 hours and still not having access to the website to see the homes I called in only to find out I don't have an acct but my card was charged $398 for 2 payment processes. So after assurance that the payments were rejected and I would be credited back they wanted to charge me yet a 3rd time for $199 to create an acct. Blinded by hope I agreed. This time i have an acct at the very least and started looking up homes.
The Company spoiler:
Each house listed has 1 picture of the front of the house and estimations of the price/size/rooms/ and what you are searching for as far as pools or anything else special, nothing is "guaranteed." I guess i was expecting alittle more clarification on which houses i was going to be interested in before i started notifying the home owners because half the places i wasn't thrilled about but were options. After mailing out 70/80 letters and coming to a time to make a decision where i was going to live, we started searching for more appts. We receive 8-10 letters back saying the home owners were no longer present and no information back from the homeowners. Sadly discouraged our lease is up and we did move and found a new great appt.
The Catch:
No longer needing the services from american standard online, i call today about getting the refund that supposedly "automatically gets refunded after 90 days" yea, not even close. After 90 days you are Eligible to receive your refund with 5 letters of denial from the homeowners that you have to send certified mail to the company who will then mail you back a check. NO Representative will tell you this, they will say "if you go to the website and see the refund terms and conditions." Gutsy Right? So now i have to request all the addresses i mailed requests to take over payments for and create my own letter of denial and spend postage and HOPE a homeowner will respond to this letter after ignoring my first. My refund hangs in the balance of hoping a homeowner responds!! Thankyou American Standard Online, I will never do business again and hope anyone else considering does read this post! I've taken too much time on this and will not proof read :)

Sure is scam

I like many live in a apartment and would love to own a home and the game American Standard talks about is a great game for sure. I saw a fantastic house being advertised in Gulfport Mississippi and the rent tp own was only 850 a month with zero down and take over the payments of this house. Being too good to be true I called the 800 number and spoke with a William and he started with the title research and how they have thousands of houses to offer all over the US. I explained to him a few times I don't care about houses all over the US; I wanted to look at the house in Gulfport and what was the address. He refused to give a address and continued with his speech. I continued to ask what the catch was and there is no catch according to him just a one time 199.00 processing fee. He asured me this fee is 100% refundable after 90 days. I kept asking about the program and all he was able to do is either rehash the same speech or state he had no information and this was information customer service would have. I asked for customer service and I was told not without the 199.00 fee paid. So I did a google search on the company while he was on the phone with me and asked about the pages and pages of complaints against his company and its fee based program; his reply is every company has complaints against it and if I wasn't going to pay the 199.00 he was going to hang up. I told him good bye.
So this is how the program works after a few hours of searching on the net. They (American Standard) will provide you with a list of homes in or near foreclosure. It is up to you to contact the owner to see if they are willing to leave their home vs a bad report on their credit report. American Standard provides its members generic documents to help with the the legal matters although they do state they are not attorneys and you need to consult one prior to getting involved in this type of transaction.
I feel great I saved myself 199.00 and also flagged and removed the scam ad on craigs list. With all the complaints listed against this company and its sister company and the owner of the company its a huge red flag and I suggest that if your looking to rent to own a home do not use this company.
