Lee Nelson of Good Ol' Bos Moving ad Storage was contacted from a Yellow Pages ad in early May. They called us back and offered to send an e.mail about their company. It read well. It offered Peace of Mind Quality Service and a great price and great service.asurance of no hidden costs outside of their estimate, etc. They sent an estimate and asked for a deposit of 22% of the final cost. We used Pay Pal to forward an amount of $332.00 TheY called on the phone and asked a few questions of what was to be shipped. The estimate was based on this. Even though in their information on the web they boldly in red stated:
"We always offer to do Free in home surveys and we strongly recommend this as it often elimintes problems later on. Warning: customers lists often miss small items and custmers are poor estimators of numbers of boxes....ALWAYS HAVE IN HOME STIMATES AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR A MOVER NOT TO DO SO...IT SHOULD BE PART OF THE SERVICE".
They were given the option of when the furniture should be picked up since it was all ready in early May. We asked for deliver on June 12th, 2006. The picked it up on June 5t, 2006 as that would give enough time for it all to arrive on June 12th.
After their first estimate and the business was asked to moe our stuff, tey added in an extra cost. When I pointed out that they were no hidden costs, Lee said "I am trying to do my bst to help you". I agreed to the costs and a pick up date was set, and deposit made via internet.
On June 5th, 2006, a truck with the name ALLIANCE VAN LINES and two young men, arrived. They loaded all of our belongings and gave us a number of sheets of papers with items loaded, asked us to sign and took off.
June 12th, in our new location we waited for our shipment. Nothing arrived. We called Lee Nelson. He said it was still in Toronto and would be another week or so. We bought an air mattress and waited.
June 17th, with no word from them we called Lee Nelson. We stted that he promised Jue 12th and it is now the 17th. He yelled that he never amade such a promise and that his computer says June 12-19th, he was speaking firmly standing his ground when my husband gave me the phone as I made the arrangements. Lee was speaking so loudly, he would not stop to hear a different person on the phone and ignored my repeated "Hellos". I hung up. He called back and I could hear him yeling at my husband from sitting next to him in our car. My husband yelled back and they both hung up.
Later an e.mail from Lee saying to talk to Sean Singh at Alliance Van Lines as there was a problem with our furniture
Sean could not be reached and did not return messages.
We called Lee and we were now panicking. Lee offered nothing. Instead, stated that he was yelled at by us, and since he was mistreated this way he wanted nothing to do with us.
We asked about a refund if he did not want to deal with us and he offered half of the deposit. After sometime he refunded half. As the story got hotter, he offered to refund all of the money to get him off the hook. He pushed the responsibiliy over to ALLIANCE VAN LINES, who pointed us back to the one who made the arrangements.
Sean said finally that there was an accident and he knew for sure that our leather couch was mangled as the truck landed just where it was packed in the truck. He would forward the other stuff by another carrier. No further information.
Cutting to the chase weeks and weeks went by with not being able to reach Sean, promises of a police report that would be faxed and never was, no details of the accident whatsoever. B Lee again telling us that he was the good guy here and was tring to help, offered us the name of the insurance for Alliance Van Lines - Lombard Insurance. We tracked down his broker and asked about an accident. They had no knowledge of an accident with Alliance Van Lines whom they insured. Sean later called warning us never to talk to his insurance company again. The broker now refused to talk further when he realized what was going on.
Endless calls to the police who said it was a Civil matter, the MP's in our area, etc. etc.
Sean then gave us the name of River City Movers and said they would bring our stuff. Elaine was the organizer and was often drunk on the phone. She did not want anything to do with it but said she would help Sean out. She gave the business to a Paul Legge (not his real name when the number was checked on Canada411) He demanded the cost of the full shipment even though items were missing. Sean finally told him to reduce it by $500. We now owed him $1945.00 and had a money order ready with the amount if only we could get our stuff. Paul threatened to take us to court for the full amount if we did not pay. After a few weeks of promises to receive our stuff, Sean got him o the phone and said it would be at our door on JULY 24TH, 2006.
they arrived with a small trailer and demanded payment before it was opened. On opeing, there was about 5% of what we shipped. There were only 30 boxes repacked into their boxes, a broken and damaged king bed and broken box springs, 4 broken lamps, broken patio furniture, bits and pieces of other items all bent and broken. Everything in the boxes was broken to bits, clothes torn and soiled. The RCMP came to the scene, and while they were speaking with us inside the building, the two movers placed all boses and items on the grass in front of the apartment building and took off.
Sean informed us to make a claim within 30 days for the basic insurance of 60 cents per pound and he would do better to help us out. We had this claim sent by a lawyer on August 11th, 2006.
TO DATE NEVER ANOTHER WORD FROM ALLIANCE VAN LINES OR GOOD OL'BOYS OR LOMBARD INSURANCE REGARDING ANY OF OUR MONEY OR FURNITURE.
ON PLACING INFORMATION OUT TO THE PUBLIC LEE NELSON IS THREATENING, FAXING THE LAWYER WE USED TO WRITE THE LETTER AND CLAIMING SLANDER.
WE ARE AKING THIS PUBLIC AS WE HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO OUR NAMES OF FURNITURE OR BELONGINGS AND ONLY FURTHER ABUSE FROM LEE NELSON, AS IF HE HAS NOT DONE ENOUGH DAMAGE BY CLAIMING TO BE A MOVER AND HAVING OUR STUFF PICKED UP AND WE HAVE NEVER SEEN IT AGAIN.
The most recent word from Lee is that we signed off on the insurance and I WOULD LOVE TO SEE WHERE I SIGNED WHEN WE NEVER MET OR DID ANYMORE THAN RECEIVE HIS ESTIMATE AND USED PAY PAL TO MAKE A DEPOSIT. ON THE PHONE WHEN HE DID HIS ESTIMATE WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN HOME, HE NEVER ONCE I SWEAR TO GOD, MENTIONED THE WORD INSURANCE.
So what about the 60 cents required by law? What about the $1945.00 for a few broken items? Were are the other broken items like my 32 inch Sony T.V.? My Stainless steel barbecue, my computer, my leather couch, my bedroom dresser and mirror, my wing chair, microwave, toaster over etc. etc. etc. WHAT ABOUT THE ACCIDENT REPORT FROM THE POLICE?

Hello Lee - Have you moved to Winnipeg?

So Lee nelson, you are your own satisfied customer.
I am living with my $25,000 loss to this company.
By the way, why is this Winnipeg person reading rip off . com reports when they are supposed to be happy? This is for us who have been ripped off by this church going man. I believe that the one writing and pretending to be a satisifed customer is him trying to make the company look good. I am sure of it as the emails go to Lee Nelson everytime something is written, and he received this email and responded today. People who are satisfied don't just browse this site. It has been four years with no response except for the ex employee. So it is definitely church going Lee Nelson.
Thank the ex employee as he knows the inside scams. If he has nothing to do but to write on here, I guess that applies to you as well.
I have a large interest in one day recovering my $25,000. One day it will happen, and Lee my friend, you will certainly be the one to pay.
You never paid me a red cent and I would like my money. I am about to start up this whole lawsuit as I have figured out how I could make small claims up to $25,000.
This will never leave your life until settled. I wish the police would find you in church and arrest you and watch out, they way it is going, it is very likely to happen!!!

Don't ever deal with Mark Anthony. I started dealing with Mark at the onset of my move and got nothing but dumb looks and blind stares when asking him a question about the move. Good ol boys biggest mistake was hiring this baboon to do there estimates. I promptly complained and someone new was sent out. They were totally knowledgeable and reassuring with all questions of my move. They also assured me that this was the last time Mark would be working for them. I guess this ex-employee has nothing better to do now that he has been fired. Needless to say, I was extremely grateful to have had good ol boys move me. I saved tons of money and got an excellent service. Sure I would have been hesitant if I had read these comments at the onset of my move but I opted for the proper insurance and nothing went wrong so I guess I didn't really need it. better safe than sorry I guess.

Dear Customer,
i would check with a lawyer reguarding your claim. i not 100% sure the insurance requirments
in canada, but american moving companies must have cargo insurance to cover matters such as yours. The cargo insurance would cover accidents and not limit you to the $.60 cents per pound, but pay out the value of your shipment. You need to find the insurance carrier for the moving company since it was their truck that had the accident.Even though Good ol'boys booked the move, it was the other company's fault for the accident. Although, with the way you've treated i can see why your pissed at Good ol'boys moving. If they were a customer oriented company they would help you recover your loss not blame you for they carriers mistakes, but thats probaly why they have an unsatifactory record with thee BBB.

1. You are the one not being responsilbe... accept responsiblitiy for your decision of not wanting coverage for your move. if you took insurance there would not be any questions here... you would have been re-imbursed to what ever amount youwould have insured to but you chose not to take insurance... You have no clue how the moving industry works.... When you are part of a group any mover within that group may haul or simply book. Bottom line is i have no idea why we have been so nice to you when you including refunding everything you paid us as goodwill.
You need to take responsiblity for your actions... We do not want to charge you with slander as we know you have already been hurt. If you are hurting us we will be forced to fight back.
Slander is slander and i wonder why ripoffreport.com is allowing inaccurate reports and lies and deceipt on their system.
Both your reports initially did not contain anything about the accident and why items were damaged, there was never any intent to damage your goods and you were never scammed. It obviously makes a big statement about the validity of the rip off report site.

YOU CLAIM TO BE A MOVER TOOK A DEPOSIT OF 22%
AUTHOR: Wendy - (Canada)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, November 04, 2006
Mr. Lee Nelson, what is so difficult to understand. You are responsible as you claimed to be a mover. Good Ol' Boys Moving and Storage. You never said you were an agent for movers. You took a 22% deposit of our total moving costs for yourself and passed the business on to a real over.
When the heat got to hot, you refunded the 22% and passed of the situation to ALLIANCE VAN LINES, who claim that you are responsible since you made the arrangements for the move. You were supposed to do the paper work but instead e.mailed an estimate, talked about the goods to be transported, on the phone and then asked for your deposit.
Once you received it from the internet Pay Pal, you sent ALLIANCE VAN LINES and thought your job was over. NOT SO. YOU ARE THE ONE I CALLED AND PAID MY MONEY TO. YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IGNORED TO SELL ME INSURANCE.
Yes you paid every penny of $332.45 back to us and no longer want any responsibility. Well, you are the one who sucked us in under false pretences of being a mover, decided who should move us without us knowing ahead of time or without us having any say in the matter and now leave us in their hands. They claim that you are the one who made the arrangements and it is your resposibility to us. They refuse to pay us our basic cargo insurance. If you are the agent for this whole mess, THEN FIX IT! $4,000 - 30,000 MUST come our way very soon, otherwise I will continue to expose this mess, as I can prove each and every word I have said and will say to the public, here and many other places.
Politicians, police, real estate agents and press are my target.
Others must realize what you represent. You are NOT a mover, instead someone pushing in between me and the mover only to collect money with no responsibility or no work to do.
I HAVE LOTS OF TIME TO DO THIS AND I WILL DO IT WELL!

Customer was refunded all monies paid to us.... so how did we scam her. WE got nothing no funds but only headaches from this customer. Customer was hurt as truck was totalled in an accident. Customer did not want coverage and signed off so coverage is extemely limited and customer is hurt But this was her doing and not the fault of Good Ol Boys Moving. WE are trying to be nice and not charge this customer for slander but she is leaving us with little options. After 31 years in the moving industry why would we stop the truck unload it take a sledge hammer to her stuff and then deliver it. Does this make sense? The truck was tottalled causing extensive damage she did not take insurance and we as goodwill refunded every penny paid to her even though it was her choice to take the coverage or not and she signed off.
