I, too returned Capt. Chris' materials to him after I saw the DVDs. He encourages people to purchase them on this basis, and if his system is not everything he claims it is, one may return them within 30 days, and pay nothing.
I viewed the DVDs, and they weren't even close to what he claimed. I returned them in about ten dayswell before the 30 day review period, and he STILL charged my VISA $297.00
In his sales blogs, he claims that after an embarrassing Road Rage incident, he traveled all over the world to study with legendary fighters in the Far East. Even went to Britain and learned from old WW II Commandos those techniques they used to Kill the Nazis. Then worked out an innovative system consisting of Gross Motor moves to more efficiently utilize the aforementioned Commando techniques while under extreme duress. This is the system he offered to sell me. That's not what was in the package.
There isn't a single windpipe crushing, neck snapping, crippling, maiming or blinding technique anywhere. The gross motor movements are the few techniques shown on his website. It's got karate chops (to the back of an opponent's shoulder, in one example). It's got whip kicks, and of course, wristlocks. I cannot believe that WW II Commandos killed the Nazis with wristlocks and whipkicks. Never mind Karate chops to the backs of their shoulders. Nor do I believe that any n**i ever attacked anyone with a Norman Bates-style downward stabbing motion.
When I've been threatened with knives, it was nothing like a Norman Bates-style attack. On the rare occasions that someone has grabbed me in the opening stages of an attack, it wasn't by the wrist while they stood before me. In fact, in his sales blog, he vividly describes his own attack by a road rage fueled psycho, stating that he had Mr. Roadrage in a wristlock when fat, knife-wielding Mrs. Roadrage went after Pizzo's wife, causing him to release Mr. Roadrage leading to Capt. Chris being savagely beaten-- I'll bet Mr. Roadrage didn't use a wristlock, either.
After Capt. Chris recovered, he claims to have had an epiphany regarding the lack of streetworthiness of his earlier, traditional martial arts training, deciding that it didn't prepare people for the real world. His new system he claimed, addressed that deficiency. Yet, in his DVDs, he spends an inordinate amount of time demonstrating the very wristlocks he'd learned as part of his traditional training, finishing with the information that once the viewer has an evildoer in a wristlock, he can do anything I want with him.
Naturally, he offers no real suggestions as to what that should be. The truth is, I wouldn't grab an assailant of unknown capabilities to wristlock him, or for any other reason unless he were already so incapacitated as to represent minimal risk to myself while I finished him off. Better to crush his windpipe in the opening seconds of the encounter and then walk away. That's what the WW II commandos would have done. There's just no point in wrestling with a Mr. Roadrage.
I don't know if Capt. Chris Pizzo has the knowledge he claims, but I DO know that it's not what he's sharing here for $300.00. I want my money back.

Seemed fine to me

Got alot out of Capt. Chris's stuff. Made sense to use gross motor skills. Being kicked in the shin or back of the neck to stepping to the side seemed to follow what I've read. Brealing holds and what not I practiced and it worked. Whether the guy was honest about his training I'm not sure.
Had a fellow contact me saying he was Chris's instructor who after being ripped off by Chris tried to apologize for not speaking up after not getting his money. That caused me to think if he was his instructor and was his business partner then he must have condoned Chris's teachings. Anyway, I bought Chris's stuff and liked it. I didn't pay full price and like to look at it now and then just to refresh.

My experience with capt chris site

Disclaimer:
I have absolutely NO martial arts experience, except a month or two when I was about 12 years old.
I was not in military.
I have no connection to capt america or capt chris or his website.
I was writing this to show you can get some of the basic info he claims (for free).
I saw an ad for this and went to website, viewed promo video. It did say register for free access to some of his info.
I did this (be sure to use a disposable email address for this or any website) before I got an email confirming, I poked around amazon, some people are selling his videos used, still not real cheap. His book or pamphlet shows out of print.
I got the email then logged in.
I have blocked some link sites but when I confirmed my email it redirected me to a link to down load his basic moves book as PDF.
I figured this would be just an ad for his movies. I had clicked on products, and they are expensive!
However, I'm surprised. This thing is 131 pages.
It has still pix illustrating basic defensive moves in series, aimed at saving yourself and disabling an attacker to survive.
It's not perfect grammar but is quite readable, and about what I would expect in terms of the subject content to get the moves in the pictures across.
I'm going to let my wife read this too. She walks around our neighborhood a bit.
We haven't been attacked or mugged but have on occasion seen creepy individuals scoping us out as if trying to see if we are worth robbing.
Anyway, maybe his videos are or are not worth buying. I have no idea about his biz practices re charging cards and refunds. But he scored a few points with me with the free PDF you can download. I havent' even finished reading it but I'm going to keep this in mind. The moves all seem very practical.

Just to start off:
1. I purchased the Close Combat DVD's from Capt Chris in November 2010
2.I have had over 17 yrs of Martial arts influence, including 6 yrs at NY Martial Arts Academy which if you are familiar with Jeet Kun Do, teaches all kinds of different martial arts from Kali stick fighting to mixed martial arts to Muay thai to Wing chung etc...
I, myself, purchased the close combat DVD's from Captain Chris. But before I purchased his DVD's I actually listened to his entire sales pitch and I do mean the entire thing. I do remember him explaining vivdly what he is trying to teach and why.
In tournaments, sparring matches and demonstration I have had, my martial arts training comes out naturally because these are all planned situations or regulated by a judge or ref. I can count on one hand how many street fights ive had and they're are not that many compared to tournament bouts. During those few street fights when you never know what can go wrong and fear set in, i will tell you that nothing i did to fight back looked stylish, masterful or organized because basic instinct to defend myself overpowered.
Captain Chris advertises that during "condition red" or "condition black" moments, most things that require fine movements go out the window. I totally agree with that statement. If you bought this DVD expecting windpipe cracking, neck snapping or blinding attacks then you probably did not listen to his entire explaination of his DVD. Even at the very end of the sales pitch he emphasizes:
"If you are buying this thinking you are learning how to kill people, dont bother"
His DVD set is as advertised. When fear sets in and your natural reaction is gross motor movements, he teaches techniques to try to utilize them in your favor. He constantly stresses that he could easily teach you deadly moves but that involves fine motor skills which fly out the window when you heart rate rises.
On this aspect of your complaint I believe you are wrong for making accusation when this man repeatly reminds you over and over and over before you buy the DVD set and after, what is his main goal to teach you.
Now, on the several complaints I have read regarding money paid or overcharged, I will not make any assumptions and take your word on it. I myself had an issue regarding a payment and it was extremely difficult to reach someone to help me resolve the issue. But it did get resolved eventually because I didnt let up.
If you havent seen this DVD set, dont take my word or the person who filed this complaints word for it. Go to his website and listen to his presentation, its all audio so he will ramble on for about 10-15mins but really listen to what he is selling. When you fully listen and understand his goal with the DVD set, then reread this complaint before passing judgement.
