In August of 2005 I called Qwest (my longtime telephone company, but soon never to be again) and spoke to a representative regarding a matter on my home telephone service. When that was finished I was then given a sales pitch for Qwest DSL, and told by the representative that "if I signed up now I would get free DSL modem rental for a year".
However, once I received my first bill I noticed right away they were charging me $61 for the modem. I called them immediately, explaining what I was told when I signed up, and that representative told me "they would have to send me another modem, and I'd have to return the first one for credit". The second modem came, it was *identical* to the modem I was first sent, so I have NO idea WHY they needed to send me another one. I returned the first modem to them, using a pre-paid UPS shipping label they provided me with the new modem, to an address in Colorado. A Qwest supervisor told me on Tuesday Jan 3, 2006 that "it should not have been sent to Colorado" Well, that is the label *they* provided to me to return it with.
Since September 2005 I have been waiting for the $61 credit to appear on my bill for the modem return, and they also promised me a free month of DSL due to this mixup, stating that "they seldom give a free month, but in my case it was warranted. That credit was for the amount of $24.99, which also never shoed up as a credit on my bill. I have made numerous calls to them regarding this, and was always told "it takes a couple months for the credit to show up".
The last time I called them I was assured by a supervisor that the credit would appear on my December bill. That bill just arrived Tuesday Jan 3rd, and again there was no credit issued at all. I called them again, and a supervisor told me it shouldn't have been sent to Colorado (the address THEY had pre-printed on the modem return label), and said that had most likely caused the delay. Then he tells me now they cannot find a record of my returning it! I have the tracking number written down somewhere, but this was months ago and will take me considerable time to find.
Today suddenly my DSL stopped working and I called them about it. I was told it was shut off due to billing, however my latest bill JUST came Tuesday and is not due until January 14th!! Calling them did absolutely no good at all, the representative told me there was nothing she could do. After which, I told her to disconnect my phone service, I want nothing more to do with these crooked ripoff artist liars! I do not need their lousy phone service, I can gladly get by with just my cell phone and cable internet service.
Qwest will NEVER EVER see one cent of my current bill. No matter what. I am going to take this to the Public Utilities Comission, the FTC, and any other agency possible. If you have also been ripped off by these bastards at Qwest I suggest you do the same. Don't let these corporate demons get away with it!!They cut their own throat by treating their longtime customers LIKE DIRT.
