I went to work as a regional manager for Amerassist in 2012.  I not only made excellent commissions, I was paid bonuses as promised.  This resulted in my fee ($7500) being reimbursed in less than 6 months.  My income for 2013 was in the low to mid six figures.  At my present rate my 2014 income will exceed my 2013 income by more than 25%.  I have recieved support, training, and help in any way I could ask.  At the same time I have been allowed to build my sales force without interferance from the company.  Too many in this nation have become accustomed to allowing someone else to determine their worth in a dead end job.  This is the best business venture I have ever had the pleasure of working.

Pay $7500 for collections "training"? Is that a joke?

I recently received an email to interview for this company (deleted it).  They fail to advertise that they are a collection agency in their help wanted ads, and there's absolutely no mention of any investment (let alone $7500).  I google any company that contacts me so that I don't waste my time, or miss out on an interview with another company, going to pointless meetings.  Also, so that I have an idea of what the company does and it's corporate culture.  I would NEVER work for a collection agency, look at the way in which the owner of the company tries to justify the exorbitant training fee.  They're bottom feeders, in my opinion. 

I've been to many training programs / seminars in my decades of work and NOT ONCE have I paid anything to attend them.  If a company desires for me to learn certain skills, they can pay for the training, hotel, travel, and at least one meal per day (two if the training runs all day).  If I require a professional certification to hold a position, I will contact the government agency responsible (not through the employer), and arrange for any required fees / training.  My fiance recently started taking the CPA exam (she's done 1 part so far), and her company reimbursed her for both the cost of the course and the exam fee.  There is no justification for asking new hires to cough up $7500 for "training", especially for a collections job.  Not even if they paid me $7500 to sign up. 

Good luck to all of you looking for work.  I know that it can be frustrating, intimidating, and stressful.  If ANY employer asks you to write them a check before they'll hire you, leave immediately.  Legitimate employers pay you for your time, not the other way around.  It's better to move on and prepare for the next interview.  I hope this helps to keep someone from giving money to these scammers.  If nobody pays them, it will stop happening.

It's not that Jesse "can't sell" that comment only makes you look more guilty. ANY Company asking you to pay up front is a SCAM, especially $7500.00


Would IBM as you to pay anything for you to work for them?  NO.

Your selling skills are fine but you need to work on your excuses a little more. Obviously, you didn't work very hard. People like you expect business to just drop into your hands. Sales is hard work. You have to actually call on many prospects, give many presentations, overcome many objections, and ask for orders. And you have to have a positive attitude. Unfortunately you are among the 80% in the 80/20 rule: 20% of any sales force sells 80% of the business. The rest are like you - praying at the shrine of wishful thinking. My feeling is that everywhere you go, you are going to blame the company and not yourself. Good luck!

I was contacted by them through email. I have my info posted on "Career Builder". I think I'll also remove that. I've gotten nothing but junk replies from that site.

Seems like every time I get a job offer it's some recruiter on the other end trying to meet with me about some great opportunity. Thing is he wont give me much information about the company or actual job.

Easy ways to detect a scam!!

1. The recruiter does not want to answer questions over the phone.
2. The job your applying for wants to charge you for anything. Lol. This should be a dead giveaway.
3. Good jobs are not going to come to you. You're the one that has to go to them.

I know very little about this company other than I got a email saying that you are looking to expand and I will be later contacted about a new opportunity. I then googled you and found this site. Having read the piece about the BBB I did just that I checked with them and they do have a rating for you. C- They give the following reasons,

Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of C- on a scale from A+ to F. Reasons for this C- rating include:

  • BBB does not have sufficient information to determine how long this business has been operating
  • BBB does not have sufficient background information on this business

 

This is telling that you would recant what someone says then lie about it. I know nothing about you except that honest is honest and at least this comment is not, and as for the person that said you had an F well that is a lie as well.

The problem with this site is that some people will believe this crap without using their brains to check the facts for themselves.

Fees for Training

Yes, it does cost to get a series six or seven license, an insurance agent's license, a realtor's license, to take the bar exam, etc. However, these are licensing fees that go to the government or educational fees that go to schools. These are not charges for training from the company you are going to work for. I have been in real estate, insurance, and securities, and my son is an architect. We had to pay fees for licensing and sitting for state sponsored exams, but NEVER have either of us paid our employing company for the training each individual company offers new (and continuing) employees. No legitimate company charges for company training. Each company I have worked for offers continuing education. Am I to assume that each training seminar or educational update provided via NCS Plus will incur and additional training fee? After all, if we go to work for you, we are making you money. Why should we pay for the opportunity to make you money? However, on the flip side, we have always been paid for the time and effort involved in training with an individual company. What company training primarily is for is not to teach you the ropes of the business (although admittedly there is some of this as well), but rather to teach about the products of the individual company and the keep employees abreast of changes in products, laws, and industry standards.

Thank God for this web site. Thank you for posting!! No credible company ever charges an employee for training! Notice that they do not mention these hidden fees in their ads. It's very sad. Had I not googled this company I probably would have been slammed with unwanted calls. Thanks again!

Meritless assertions

I am a sales rep for NCS. I followed their instructions and am doing very well. My clients are also happy. Just because you did not have the discipline, and failed to follow the training, do not make things difficult for the people who have, and are having success. Obviously you haven't held many professional jobs, because you would know that opportunities to make money cost money. There is a cost to take the Series 7 exam to sell securities; a cost and degree required to take the CPA exam; a cost to take the Bar exam; a cost to become a real estate agent; a cost to become an insurance agent; a cost to be anything professional, evidenced by the high cost of college tuition, and the list goes on.

If you spent $7,500 and are unhappy with what you did with your opportunity, then perhaps you need to do a better job doing your own due diligence prior to parting with your hard earned money. Perhaps you should have listened in your training and followed their instructions. Don't blame others for your poor decisions. Everything is not for everybody, and working for NCS may not have been for you...your fault, not NCS'.
