I currently work at Dillard's and I will tell you this I hate my job! I have been employed there for almost 3 months now and I have never seen such horrid management in my 15 years of work experience. First of all I have witness racist attitudes with in the management and employees. It did not shock me much from the employee but to see it from the management that was a blow to the mind. The was not towards a particular race in general, keep in mid though that is also seen toward races other than whites, more aimed toward the in income of the person even the area that the person lives in.
I guess to the these manager if you don't live in the rich side of town you are trash and really should not be shopping the store " they only come here looking for the sale items, they could not regularly afford "OUR" prices" which was said followed by a laugh, by the store manager to the ASM. Also the camera guy, not sure if he is being told to do this or takes it upon himself, always calls the department I am in when a African American lady goes in to the dressing room and asked that we watch them because the walked in with more than one item.

They talk to you as if you are a servant, and treat you as one as well. RESPECT in needed to order to return it!!!They love to compare you to other employees and demean you in the process. If you are not making your quota they will let you know that you are not as well as others. They do this by saying that SUZIE Q in RTW made over quota all week long there is no reason you should be behind in your sales if SUZIE Q can do it. BUt they don't take in consideration that you had no consumers or you had 3 other sale people in your area.
They also have very poor communication skills. If you need a manager you would have better luck going looking for one than to have one paged to your area. By that time the costumer is already upset and leaves with out the issue resolved and unhappy. Also you will be told by one manager to one thing and then another manager will come by and tell you are doing it wrong and tell you another way to have it done. It becomes very frustrating and time consuming when this happens.
We have one manager on the floor that doesn't know her job at all, all she really does is stands around and try's to look pretty and hack out orders to look like she knows her jobs. When it comes down to knowing a answer to a situation she says, "Um I really don't know." I will in the end up helping the costumer or the Sales Associate with the problem. That is poor management and training.
I would never suggest this job to anyone!!! You would be better off apply at McDonald's or even Wal-Mart! They at least know how to train their employees and management.
And I also would like to say that Dillards is a big fan of bashing other stores! Supposedly because they by products made by under age children in work salve rings. Are we completely sure that you are not doing the same Dillards!!!!!
