This is a very simple request for anyone who considers investing their time and/or money in any company. Check them out. Now I have read many comments about the Ignite company and NO ONE has discussed some very simple research techniques.
1. I checked out their Better Business Bureau record which is free. Oops there's a problem - 112 complaints in the last 3 years. 56 in the last year. These complaints are penetrating all of the major departments of the company. I also checked out the complaint level for 2 of my local Energy companies (which are both multi-million dollar companies). I live in a major urban area . UH Oh!! - 0 complaints.
2. Who has done a D&B on this Ignite company? Anyone? Before you spend $329 on a company spend $30 on a D&B.
3. Who has read their complete financial report and if you don't understand it get some help.
4. Be careful with ANY company who reports such enormous profits. On who's backs are these profits being made?
5. Who has hired an attorney to see how the MLM process actually pays out the commissions and whether said contract has any protections for YOU. Who would you guess that contract protects??

Mathmatics and The Bottom Line

I don't Doubt that a person could make money using IGNITE...I just went to one of their meetings and listened to their talk...They were quite emphatic about the need to only sign up 8 other people for STEAM in order to get $200 or the original $329 back and be a full fledged 'Director' on Level 1. After all just about ANYBODY has at least 8 close friends or family members they could probably talk into doing a simple thing as changing their electric company.
My friend told me that Steam had competitive rates, however after due diligence it appears they would be right at 2 cents per KWH more expensive in my area. Even more peculiar is that the KWH cost goes UP another 2 cents if my monthly usage is less than 699KWH . FIRST CLUE THERE IS SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON!! Why charge a customer MORE for using less electricity?
Now this DOES make perfect sense IF STEAM energy needs to overcharge each customer by a certain amount in order to pay out money on those residual checks...If I only use 500 KWH they overcharge me by 4c to get $20 for residuals and if I use 1000kwh I am only paying 2c more and they still get their $20.
The facts are that anyone you get to sign up for STEAM ELECTRICITY will be paying at least 2 cents per KWH more for electricity than the best rate they COULD have gotten for the same electricity from a lower cost provider. You probably could convice your friends and or family members to help you out by switching to STEAM, especially if you lie to them and they take your work for it that Steam is cheaper or you just talk them into paying a little more to get you one step close to the BIG PAYOUT.
Another staggering fact is that for each person who reaches LEVEL 5 there are at LEAST 10,192 customers in his downstream who are all paying too much for their electricity.
THIS IS A PONZI SCHEME, THE OUTRIGHT PAYMENT OF NEW MONEY IN TO PAY PEOPLE HIGHER UP HAS JUST BEEN REPLACED BY THE INCOME STREAM OF GETTING PEOPLE TO OVERPAY FOR ELECTRICITY TO PAY PEOPLE HIGHER UP IN THE PONZI IN HOPES OF RECRUITING PEOPLE BELOW THEM TO ALSO OVERPAY FOR ELECTRICITY IN ORDER BENEFIT FINANCIALLY.
THE PEOPLE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PYRAMID MAKE LITTLE OR NO MONEY, NEW ENTRIES WILL NEVER MAKE A PROFIT UNLESS THE PYRAMID GROWS, AND THE PYRAMID CANNOT GROW INDEFINITELY.
WHAT IS THERE ABOUT THIS THAT ISN'T A PYRAMID SCHEME I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO SHOW ME!

I searched the BBB and found
"There are no results for 'Ignite - Stream Energy' within dallas, TX 75220."
If you found the results you claim, please show us where you found it at the BBB.
I am truly interested but could not substantiate your claims. Otherwise it appears that you are just a disgruntled customer making up false information.
I come to Ripoff Report to get valid information. Anybody else want to take on the challenge to look up this data? Help us get the truth.
Thank you.

Look At the Numbers

This is a suggestion for anyone who plans to get involved with Ignite. You should look at the income disclosure on their website (under opportunity). It shows the percentage of people in the company in certain levels. It also shows the average income at that level. If one treats this as a probability distribution for potential payout (multiply each percentage by the average income for each position and then sum the resulting products) you will find that your expected earnings with ignite is around $600 per year, roughly double what you would spend initially.
This does not take into account the amount of effort/time put in and implicitly assumes you have average network marketing skills.
The point I am trying to make is that you certainly can make money with Ignite, but don't expect it to be more than $600 a year.
Another way of looking at the income disclosure (distribution) is this: If you feel your network marketing skill level is at the 88th percentile or lower, you should expect to make $175 a year. Conversely, if you feel you network marketing skill level is in the top tenth of one percent (read 0.001) then you should expect to earn $150,000 a year.
Just something to consider...

I applaud what you have to say here. It is always prudent to check out a company before you do business. It just so happens I work for Stream Energy and can understand the frustration people have. I hear it everyday. I also see internally what is going on and can say I am not happy with some of what they do. Having said that and to be fair, having to buy electricity before you can sell it or collect on it brings a host of problems. I don't think comparing Stream with the big companies that have had an infrastructure in place since electricity has been used and the deep pockets provided by being the only company in town provided them is really fair. There is a lot going on in the back side of this that a lot of consumers aren't aware of. I often get people calling in expecting the company to take care of problems that aren't even caused by them. There are 3 parts to the deregulated parts of the Texas electricity industry. Stream is a billing retail electricity provider; then you have the individual transmission delivery service providers, the poles and wires company who do the meter reads, fix power lines and turn service on and off. Finally, there is the power plants generating and selling the electricity wholesale. Sometimes customers think the first two are the same and they are not. If a customer has been disconnected and has made arrangements with the company for power to be reconnected they think a switch can be flipped and they will have power. That is not so as an order has to go the the "poles and wires" company to send a technician out to turn power on. I think this is just one example where people get confused and upset and then file complaints. It is a matter of knowing more about the industry I think.
Stream is a young company like anyone else out there other than TXU, WTU, Reliant, CP&L and First Choice. They have been the ones in the past who have been able to charge what they want as they were the only guy in town. Deregulation brings its own problems.
I hope this helps.

Dear friend,
Stream Energy & Ignite through-out 2006 & 2007 have been featured and passed consumer reports by Belo Broadcasting's WFAA Channel 8 News out of Dallas, Texas as well as other consumer reports from many other television and radio news stations around Texas.
That Stream Energy & Ignite have been featured in the March, 2006 issue of
D Magazine, with honest and fact based journalism, projecting Stream to be the fastest growing company in the United States, if not the world!
Stream & Ignite have had several positive business write-ups in the business section of the Pulitzer Prize winning Dallas Morning News City Paper through-out 2006 & 2007.
Stream & Ignite have had featured cover stories with Direct Selling News (DSN) in Feb. 2007 edition and the Feb. 2007 edition of Empower Magazine. Both covers shared the incredible success of Stream/Ignites marketing plan as a model for others to follow.
Ignite is currently a pending member of the Direct Selling Association. The DSA is one of the toughest organizations to become a member of. The DSA only allows honest, ethical and sound business to be apart of their organization and the application process is one of the most grueling for its industry!
In October, 2007 the Dallas Chamber of Commerce awarded Stream/Ignite with its Chamber Momentum Award. Award was presented by Chamber Board Member and former Dallas Cowboy QB, Roger Staubach to Stream/Ignite co-founders Rob Snyder and Chris Domhoff. (They don't hand these awards out to known pyramid schemes).
Stream/Ignite was also nominated in Oct. 2007 as one of 10 finalists from around the world for the Platts Global Energy Award. (They don't nominate known pyramid schemes for these awards)
In May of 2008, Stream Energy/Ignite was one of only two companies from the United States to receive the top awards from the annual Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories Award ceremonies held this year at the G-Force event in Berlin, Germany. (They don't hand these awards out to known pyramid schemes).
Finally, does the Texas Public Utilities Commission and the Georgia Public Service Commission certify and license known pyramid schemes in their respective states for business operations? (Texas License - #10104 & Georgia Certificate - #GM-38)
You sure failed to research these facts!

Is that all you have??!! Complaints from the BBB?? Most of those complaints were resolved and you'd know that if you really did your homework. All NEW start-up companies have complaints in the beginning especially a service that involves a utility, DAH!
And those big competitors you speak of that have no complaints, could they possibly be Atlanta Gas Light or Scana? Those two companies have been ripping off their good and loyal customers for years, and they are going to be fighting those charges in court soon if they don't step up to the plate and return some of the money they've been ripping off of people! Stream Energy has never been charged with anything like that!!! Wow, that was a great point ConsumerToughGuy, thanks for pointing out how great the other NATURAL GAS competitors are here! Maybe someone needs to write a rip-off report on them!
Stream Energy is an award-winning successful company, obviously you didn't research enough to find that out did you?
I PERSONALLY know people who are making great money off this business in Texas, and I plan on doing it when it comes to Georgia, so are MANY OTHERS that I know!!
You my friend will be eating your words when someone you personally know is making good monthly income and this company hits the masses and skyrockets here like it did in Texas. You'll be wishing you joined IGNITE and made the easy money that can be made!
Also this is NOT a typical MLM opportunity (again you didn't really do your research). There is no product to sell like in other MLM companies, the numbers you have to achieve are low and attainable! Thousands are doing it in Texas and thousands are making money!
Yes there are a few complainers out there on the internet and negative people like you that have nothing better to do with their free time, but those are the people that have no ambition and couldn't truly succeed in ANYTHING anyway!! These types of people want to sit at home on the couch after doing their mindless 8 hours and HOPE money will come to them one day, or it's the bitter housewife that tried Arbonne and failed and now she is just leeching off her poor working husband or it's the worse kind that just hopes one day they'll win the lottery cause they have no other real skills other than being able to scratch a ticket or their head in disbelief when others succeed and they never do and never will! LOL
And if you know anything about business you know ALL BUSINESS NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE build off their employees and their consumers. Someone has to be at the top, that's the way corporate america works! Hello what company isn't run and structured that way for the most part. At least at Ignite EVERYONE has the opportunity to make big dollars not just the guys at the top. Now that is A REAL OPPORTUNITY!
And as for your suggestion of a D&B report. Stream Energy would not be certified and approved by the Texas or Georgia Public Service commission if their financials weren't in-line and on the up-and-up! Do you think they let just anyone deal in a utility service, without being checked out and scrutinized!? Also Stream isn't just claiming close to a billion dollars of revenue in under 3 years...it's a FACT and it can be checked out! Come on ConsumerToughGuy, it seems you haven't really done your research at all, have you?!
Let's check back in 6 to 9 months after Stream launches here and then we'll see who's right!!! I guarantee it will NOT BE YOU!!!
