Illinois Center For Broadcasting is an affiliate of the Ohio Center For Broadcasting. For more details, see their entry by searching for Ohio Center For Broadcasting. Everything that has been said there can be said for ICB as well, as they use the exact same playbook.
Basically their placement rate is grossly inflated...G-R-O-S-S-L-Y! They claim roughly 94%, every class that I was aware of was no more than 8-10% so why hasn't their average decreased?
They claim job placement assistance, another lie. But they will certainly take credit for your placement when you get off your a*s and get the job on your own. After graduation, IF they send you job leads, they'll often send you job leads that you clearly don't qualify for in the industry (ex. accountant, CEO etc) but they'll also try to persuade you to sign a waiver so you give up your rights to their placement assistance.
The equipment is old garbage, MOST of the teachers ARE NOT in the industry as they claim when you sign up and the certificate you receive at graduation is closer to being toilet paper than it is to being an Associates degree despite their claims otherwise!
The place is a complete scam.
Only 5 of my classmates got jobs...FIVE! Of 40 people in the class! Previous class, 4...FOUR! Later class, 3!
They tell people to not burn bridges in the industry as to frighten them from ever speaking out publicly against the school. I've spoken to several of my old classmates and they're all disgusted as well. Talk was rampant about filing a lawsuit but it never happened. There is another site sueeasy.com where you can find a class action form against the Centers For Broadcasting if you've already graduated and now realized that you've been bamboozled!
Bottom line: If you want to get into broadcasting, forget this joke, scam, ripoff of a "school" and get into a real program at a real college so you can get a real degree and get a real job! Don't even call this place for information, they absolutely will lie to you.
In the meantime, I'm deep in debt from student loans!
Thanks for nothing Illinois Center For Broadcasting!

Then I would encourage every student that had a complain to submit it to accsc.org/Student-Corner/Complaints.aspx They will investigate each complaint at the school and keep a record of violations.

You Get What You Give

As an actual former graduate of the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, I was hired by a radio station a couple of weeks prior to my graduation thanks to my internship of several months wherein I showed the staff and general manager what I was capable of thanks to the skills I learned at ICB and my own internal drive.
Broadcasting is not an industry where you twiddle your thumbs -- you have to be proactive rather than reactive. You have to be the solution to an employer's problems and stand out from the crowd of other job applicants.
As of the 2012 Annual Report to ACCSC, the job placement rate was 71%. I believe it is slightly higher now in 2014. I have no idea where the complainant got a 94% number from other than thin air. Placement depends a great deal on the student and, unfortunately, not all students are willing and ready to succeed no matter how much or how well you teach them.
It is also a requirement of employment that all ICB instructors be currently employed in the broadcasting industry and, iirc, have at least 3 years of hands-on experience. No exceptions.
Eight years later, I am now also an instructor at ICB and not only is the curriculum more detailed, longer, and in-depth but the equipment, number of rooms to work in, and number/quality of instructors is better than ever. And the slight price change between then and now in all those years is an inflationary blip. Students are getting far more for their money every year.
At my campus, I have never seen a class larger than 25 students and have seen and taught a class as small as 7 students. The complainant's claim of a class of 40 seems highly implausible.
The bottom line is that if you love radio and/or television, have some amount of innate skill, can readily absorb new skills, and have the drive and desire to succeed, you absolutely can get a gig in the industry and ICB can train you better and help get you into a job far quicker than the unfocused curriculum of a community college with zero ties to the industry.
You don't have to take my word for it though. Go to the school. Schedule a tour. Sit in on a class. Talk to the students and faculty. Find out for yourself.

Frank "Nitti" never attended here.

This "student" never attended the school here. He registered for class and never started.
All the claims that he is making are false. Frank "Nitti" even knows grads who are working in the industry and he is Facebook friends with them.
Obviously, Frank "Nitti" is upset and angry about life or something personal and he's taking it out on the program that he never ever attended.
If I am incorrect, and he is a graduate of the program - he is more than welcome to come back, learn some new technology, update his resume and demo and meet with our placement department to assist him in his broadcasting career search.
Sadly, however, I am 99% sure who this is, and sadly, this is not even a real issue.

Wow, such a shame that you have to start name calling because your butt hurt someone disagrees with you.
Brain dead? I graduated high school 2 years before my class. You also don't know me so calling me anything would make you pretty ignorant huh?
I'm sorry you failed to provide a good demo to get hired somewhere. That's not ICB's fault. your product = your success or failures. In this case, your failures.
I don't care what the OCB reports say, because I, nor you went there. The stories written actually do have some similar traits to icb, as far as the equipment goes.
No you actually won't be seeing me back here blaming others for my success or failure, because unlike you, I have a sense of accountability.
Have a great day,
From someone who doesn't give a d**n : )

I don't care what they told your class, notice what I said they told MY class, you effing nitwit!?! Go look at the rip-off reports of what they told the classes at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting. Coincidence that it's the exact same thing that I said here? No, it's not a coincidence because they lie! Youre an idiot and I'm not going to rebut everything you said.

I am a student who attends ICB. It's definatley NOT a rip off. First of all, they don't claim 94% success rate. 2ndly, they never ever say that they can garuntee you a job. They DO have a placement assistance program. Your career is YOUR responsibility, NOT theirs. I'm full aware the broadcasting industry is hard to get into, hence internships of 14 months in some cases. If you came there thinking they'd place you at a job after graduation then no wonder your left without a job and in debt. no offense.
