MYWizard of Claws sold me a female papillion puppy in July 2002. In November my puppy, Tara went blind. Within 2 weeks she died.

My contract with Wizard of Claws stated that I had a one year guarantee on congenital and heriditary defects, however I had to use their veterinarian, Dr. Jan Bellows, who's specialty is dentistry.

I abided by the terms of our contract, spent over $2,500.00, $1,000.00 of which went to their veterinarian and the remaining to specialists their vet referred me to. The eye specialist could not determine the cause but was sure it was neurological. The Neurologist determined just hours before her death by way of a cat scan that it was congenital hydrocephalus, and stated that the chance for survival was slim. Toy breeds are more likely to have this condition. My papillion was a little over 4lbs.

As the bills mounted, the harder it became to reach anyone at Wizard of Claws. After she passed away, they ignored me altogether. I had to have the neurologist hold her body from the time of her death on Dec. 2, 2002 until December 4, 2002 until I couldn't wait any longer for Wizard of Claws to return my calls.

I finally arranged for her cremation, and then went to Wizard of Claws and waited for the owners to return. Upon Jim and Gilda's return, Jim was very rude, insulting and hurtful. He screamed at me, tried to get me to leave and actually accused me of killing my own puppy, claiming that I could have slammed her head in a door or dropped her on her head, and told me that he has had people hurt their own puppies and then go back to him and try to hold him responsible.

I said that I would be surprised at what people do. While I sat there hysterically crying and begging him to believe me, his wife Gilda, his employees and a customer who was also going to buy a papillion from them.

Needless to say, the customer tore up the contract and left. This angered Jim even more and he then yelled at me for losing his customer.
A
cording to the contract, they should replace my puppy in the event of a congenital condition and pay for medical. They did replace my puppy with another beautiful little girl, however they refuse to reimburse any of my $2,500.00 and insist that they didn't even have to replace the puppy because there is no proof that it was congenital. The neurologist has even written a letter for me stating that it was.

I have tried to resolve this nicely with them and have gotten nowhere.

I recently hired an attorney to write them a letter however they still insist they didn't even have to replace the puppy for me as there is no proof that it was congenital. Dr. Bellows is apparently giving legal advise along with his expertise. If he is such an expert, why didn't he find it? Why did it take 2 weeks and the third doctor to determine what was wrong? I won't even go there.
Florida Statues include a pet lemon law. According to the statute, Wizard of Claws, cannot tell me what vet to use and they are responsible for the replacing the puppy and medical up to the cost of the puppy, $950.00.

Abiding by the contract, which I did, they do not limit the cost of medical. Jim told me that I should never have spent so much on a dog. This puppy was my baby. I have yet to look at her photos that I had developed. My mother told me they are adorable. I still cry when I think of her.

Those 2 weeks were the most difficult 2 weeks of my like. I slept on the floor with her, held her while she went through convulsions, cried and prayed.

EVERYONE QUESTIONING UEYS NEEDS TO VISIT

AUTHOR: Ueys homeraised puppies jeanne eubanks - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2014

Since we welcome vistors unlike puppymillers who onl6 meet you at the side of the road, sell at flea markets, or pet shops, or fly their puuppies to you, you can come here and meet all our chihuahuas. We love visitors and show you exactly where our dogs live. Once you visit, please come back to this page and tell everyone what you saw. I would appriciate it because i cannot do anything about the lady that lied about me on this website. Oh, and while you are here, point to one of my well cared for andloved dogs, and ask to see his or her clean teeth and flea free belly.

AUTHOR: Ueys homeraised puppies jeanne eubanks - ()

POSTED: Saturday, June 14, 2014

Please  take the mention of my name Uey's Homeraisedpuppies off this page. People like Wizzards and Claws turn my stomach.  I am sick of being associated with this page about them. I have NEVER ripped anyone off. I only have a few chihuahuas and welcme visitors to see everything.  The person who complained about me probably did not like the way her husband looked at me.  Who knows, but i did not rip her off, sell her a sick puppy, and I love and respect all my dogs. Puppymills make me want to (((REDACTED))). That's how much I hate them. Abusing dogs is  so not me. If anyone questions this please visit or request a video showing my place.

What does this have to do with WOC and my posting?

AUTHOR: Teresa - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Can you please tell me why you posted on this particular complaint against WOC?  Your business name is Ueys Home Raised

puppies/Jeannie Eubanks, correct?  Are you stating you are affliated with them or something?  I'm confused.  I certainly wasn't speaking of you or your company when I posted the first complaint against them or any other time.

I don't see why

AUTHOR: Steve - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 10, 2014

I don't see why someone can complain about Wizard of Claws.....

then someone else can hijack the thread and compain about Ueys Homeraised Chihuahuas, without an actual compaint by the way as it appears Diana nevet did business with Ueys

and Ripoffreports allows this situation to stand

if Diana has an actual complaint about Ueys, let her prove it in another thread where she isn't associating Ueys (who has never been the target of an FDLE investigation) with Wizard of Claws (which has been covicted of numerous violations of Fla law and is currently under a court order to not misrepresent their puppies)

ripoffreports should sperate these threads and endeavour to not allow people to attempt to slander companies via this sort of mashing their reputations together.

AUTHOR: Ueys homeraised puppies jeanne eubanks - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 10, 2014

Since I am not being accused of ripping anyone off, I really think this site should remove my name from any association with Wizzards and Claws. Just because one person wants to make up a lie about me does not give you the right to post this. I'm tired of my name being rubbed in the mud with low life puppymill trash. My dogs are spoiled, and I only have a few. The person who wrote this is a lier, and I can prove it. Anyone that wants to see for themselves can simply visit. My website www.ueyshomeraisedpuppies.com has my address on it, and it says I welcome visitors. Since that is a fact and also since I have ripped off no one, I don't think it is fair that my name should be mentioned here. I love and spoil my dogs. Perhaps the person that wrote this didn't like the way her husband looked at me. Who knows.

UEY's is NOT a Puppy Mill

AUTHOR: Steve - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 10, 2014

Diana,

I don't know why you are hijacking these reports against different businesses in a vendetta against Uey's / Jeanne...  but anyone with a brain can see that Ueys is a one person shop that is home breeding about 1 litter a month of Chihuahua's only.  She's got numerous great reviews on the internet and yours is the only complaint I have ever seen.  More importantly, If Ueys were breeding "thousands" of pups, they would have to be firesaling them somehow, and I've never seen any outlet for chihuahuas anything like what you are talking about.

Your allegations are simply not believable.  I don't know what got you so angry at Jeanne, but unless you grow the courage to actually reveal your grievance instead of just calling her names, you look foolish.

Uey's Chihuauas/Jeanne Eubanks

AUTHOR: Samira - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 15, 2012

I bought 2 chihuahuas from Uey's several years ago. I went to Jeanne Eubanks place, saw her entire operation and was impressed with the love and knowledge she had. After being scammed by a pet store w/ a sick chihuahua puppy who passed away within a month of getting him, I was extremely apprehensive of where to go and who to trust! I did my own investigating and Uey's seemed to be safe. Once I got there, met with Jeanne, visited and saw her facility, I quickly chose and fell in love with 2 puppies. Naturally, I went to a vet of my own choice and both were healthy boys. Here I am several years later with 2 absolutely wonderful, perfect dogs who have enhanced my family and life enormously. I would HIGHLY recommend Jeanne to anyone and everyone. Samira

Common Illnesses?

AUTHOR: Anabella - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 31, 2009

I purchased my puppy from Puppiesforsalebynet.com in April of 2008. When she came to me, she was afraid of everyone and would spook really easily. This lasted for close to five months. After reading many of your comments, I am convinced she was a victim of some form of abuse as well. I do not have any proof of this however. I am simply going off my observations of her. After a year, I finally gained her trust and she is no longer afraid of humans. However, she still spooks easily.

I was curious to know if there were any common illnesses found that I should make my vet aware of? Sometimes the vets only skim the surface. Being that my puppy is from Gilda's puppy mill, I want to make sure my puppy is as healthy as she came be.

Also, does anyone have a link to the series that was done of Gilda and her husband? I saw a clip that was posted a few days ago and I was very upset by the conditions I saw.

I thought this was a site for rip offs, not opinions!

AUTHOR: Ueys Homeraised Puppies Jeanne Eubanks - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 10, 2007

I have never ripped anyone off. This person is only stating her opinion of me. I also do not breed thousands of puppies a year. My facility is beautiful, and my dogs are very well cared for. Peta is welcome here anytime and so is anyone who wants to visit. I cannot believe that something like this, an opinion, can be posed about me. This is bad for business if taken the wrong way, and I want this taken off this site please. I have pictures of my kennel on my website in case anyone wants to take a look. I am far from a puppymill that produces thousands of puppies a year like this person that I have never met said about me. She is probably a puppymiller that is upset about people like me taking business away from her.

AUTHOR: Diana - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 04, 2007

Home raised? That is a laugh as this lady is a very large puppymill operating in Florida with some frill added to try to hide what it really is.The woman sells hundreds and thousands of puppies & we already have too many dogs in America.

Excessive breeding like this is insane.A few litters or several in a year is one thing
but a hundred or more?

What ever happened to hobby breeding?
These huge kennels are using poor animals to make money and it turns the stomach of many of us.

All the lame speeches about the jobs you used to have don't work lady.

Jeanne Eubanks stop trying to justify such a large scale breeding facility. You and others who produce such large amounts of puppies are PUPPYMILLS!I'v contacted Peta and Caps to check you out & they say they have recieved many complaints & were already heading your way.

Dear James,

AUTHOR: Sherry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 11, 2005

James, you start off by saying you're sitting there watching your wife read these comments and her jaw is down to her knees. Oddly, the remarks are signed "Gilda". So either you can't tell the difference between your wife and yourself, or between the truth and fiction. It must be second nature to you by now.

By the way Dr.Jim, a dog certainly can become symptomatic due to a variety of genetic conditions long after puppyhood, that information didn't come from the gym or a puppy counselor (salesman) it comes from a Phd. of veterinary medicine, a practicing physician. So too, says one of the countries largest animal hospitals and research facilities.

You said only 11 customers were unhappy, that's just not true. I know more than 11 people who made the mistake of trusting you. There are scores of angry people who are left with sick or dead dogs and broken hearts, who you turned your back on without acknowledging any responsibility whatsoever.

It doesn't really matter what you say anymore, it all sounds the same, it's just white noise.

Wizard of Claws is a puppy mill

AUTHOR: Vera - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 29, 2005

I can state with confidence that if Teresa is to pull the records of her dog, that the neurologist findings are fact. These undersized overbred puppies are subject to a lot of congentital disorders. I am not going to get in to the middle of it, but I know who both parties are and the owner of Wizard of Claws also had another crew of dissatisfied dlients BEFORE he re name his business. We shall call the client MS. K. for her protection. I saved her medical files for her so that they would not be destroyed, but the attorney's drug their feet so long on the case the statute of limitations ran out. These two puppies had internal parasites that are from a dirty enviroment, (coccidia) upon purchase amongst other things. The particulars of the case are faint but I do know that he had the owner take one puppy to HIS vet whereupon it passed away. When the owner requested an autopsy it was said to be done and then later it was said it was not. Then the body disappeared so that she could not bring the puppy to her vet. She took the sibling to her vet where it also passed away. I can not discuss details of this case even though it has passed the time as I am not at liberty to speak now for the animal hospital that has documentation against Wizard of Claws. I can tell you though that I recall Teresa faintly, and I am 99.9% sure who the doctor is (neurologist) that worked on the puppy and if he said congenital. IT IS CONGENITAL. This gentleman is a diplomate of the AVIM. I worked there for 13 years.

Not a genetic problem

AUTHOR: Gilda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2005

The above mentioned client had the puppy for about 7 months with no prior symptoms. The dog had multiple veterinarian check ups while in the possession of the client. One day, very extreme the puppy had water in the brain.

The veterinarians did not come to a conclusion of being clearly a genetic problem because of no prior symptoms. The customer came into the kennel and even if it was not a genetic problem we still gave her another beautiful puppy and she thanked us ten times.

Then one week later she wants us to pay $2,500.00 in veterinarian bills which is not our responsibility because it was not genetic.

We did everything that we could to help our customer.

Not "Misrepresentation by Marcy LaHart"

AUTHOR: Patty - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 06, 2005

It's my understanding A plaintiff settled with Wizard of Claws without notifying either of the Plaintiff's attorney's. The plaintiff had assured the attorneys she would keep her other claims in the lawsuit, which she did not. Therefore, the $1200.00 Wizard of Clawsw paid in legal fees was ordered by the court to be repaid by Ms. LaHart. It was not because of misrepresentation..

My puppy came from broker NVK, the breeder was Martha Bartels of Kansas. Both are puppymills.

AUTHOR: Teresa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 05, 2005

I forgot to mention, Jim and Gilda, that the 11 unhappy customers you mentioned, is just the tip of the iceberg. Check court records, look at how many have posted here on Rip-Off Report.com alone. Search the internet. You will find many others. We have.

For those of you considering a purchase, do your homework. Search the breeders/brokers that they buy from. Then search the USDA inspection reports. My puppy came from broker NVK, the breeder was Martha Bartels of Kansas. Both are puppymills. They are not what any consumers would consider "select breeders", as Wizard of Claws calls them.

They also buy from Hunte, a very large puppymill/brokerage. Wizard of Claws buys puppies very cheap, and in bulk and sells them at outrageous prices.

People assume the more they spend, the better quality they are getting. This in not true. They recently posted a yorkie on their web site for $10,000!!!!They mark up their puppies based on supply and demand and prey on unknowing consumers who think that the puppy must be very special or one of a kind. This is not the case.

Visit the website of www.Prisonersofgreed.org where you will see just a few examples of these "select breeders".

Gilda and Jim, After reading your responses, I find myself totally amazed that you think you might be able to convince people that the public that have experienced these horror stories are not telling the truth, that they are lying. You are better off not responding that to make fools of yourselves. First of all, my papillon Tara, died weeks before she even reached 7 months. I only had her 4 months. Your vet couldn't diagnose because he's a doggie dentist, not a specialist of neurology. The neurologist did determine it was congenital. $1,000 after your vet ran tests. What do you have to say about this?

Customer who lies about her experience.

AUTHOR: Gilda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 03, 2005

WOC is responding to this false claims. Totally amazing, thousand of very happy customers = sorry all you animal activists thousands of very happy customers and only 11 customers pulled together in over a 3 year period......... I sit here watching my wife reading the story and her jaw is down to her knee, how can this lady write such lies... The truth is always easy to defend and it will be proven in court. The lead attorney in this case quit about 5 months ago and Marcy Lahart just had to pay WOC a check which the judge made her pay WOC for sanctions because of misrepresentation in her case. It's funny how no one mentions that. In the case she will soon see that much more of this is to come. But anyways, this lady withe Papillon forgot to mention that she had the puppy in her possesion for about 10 months with no problems..... Any dog with a genetic problem would have shown some prior symptoms. Within days her dog started symptoms of water in the brain which can be caused by many different things. Falling, a hit on the head, a drop, etc.... not considered genetic. If the dog had any prior symptoms WOC and the veterinarians would have identified this as a genetic problem, but it's NOT. The lady came into the kennel crying, yelling Oh yes one customer did walk out and we felt so bad for her that Jim said go get her a nice puppy so she can be happy and told her that we don't have to do this, we don't have to pay your medical bills. We feel horrible about what happened, she left smiling and happy and said thank you so very much. Three days later she is yelling trouble. This is the truth the simple truth and nothing but the truth. No long story we care about our customers and about our puppies. Once again see our reference page, we must be doing something right. See our celebrity page and the truth is we have so many more references to put up, but we just don't have time. We are very busy with very happy customers. This "lady" told Jim that she "hope that Jim dies a long hard death like her puppy". I hope that God forgive her for saying that and wishing that upon a human being...

SO GLAD FOR RIP-OFF REPORT.COM ..thanks!

AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 26, 2004

I recently called Wizard Of Claws to purchase an English Bulldog that they have advertised on their website www.wizardofclaws.com. I fell in love with the dog, just by looking at his picture. So I called and spoke to someone from the facility and they still had the puppy available. They said it would cost me $1800 for the puppy,$40 for the micro chip that identifies the puppy incase it is lost or stolen, and would cost me $250 to have it shipped by Delta airlines to SC. He said that they have a breeder that they use from South America that produces fabulous bulldogs and that they are CKC registered. He said they use this breeder because of the mixed breeding that goes on with breeders in the United States. I fell for it, until now. Looking at what your going through has definitely made me change my mind about buying one of these dogs from them. This article probably saved me from making a huge mistake!!! Sorry to hear about what your going through, but your saving others from having to go through it by publishing this article. I hope all goes well for you.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PUPPY STORE SUED FOR MISLEADING CUSTOMERS, SELLING SICK PUPPIES

(Pembroke Pines, FL) Two South Florida attorneys have filed a lawsuit on behalf of customers that bought puppies from Wizard of Claws Inc., alleging that the Pembroke Pines pet store defrauds customers by intentionally misrepresenting the origin of the puppies sold, and by selling puppies that suffer from a wide array of health problems, including contagious diseases and genetic disorders.

Although Wizard of Claws has told customers that their puppies were imported from "reputable" breeders in South America, according to the complaint filed yesterday Broward County Circuit Court, in reality the puppies were obtained from large scale commercial breeding facilities in Missouri, commonly known as a "puppy mills", where animal welfare concerns are wholly secondary to profits.

Plaintiff Shannah Diaz of Miami purchased a Maltese puppy, Prince, from Wizard of Claws on September 6, 2002 for $950.00. Prince suffered from a congenital bleeding disorder, and died from internal hemorrhaging when he was less than a year old. After Prince died, Diaz began to suspect that Prince had come from a puppy mill, and asked a Wizard of Claws. "They assured me that my puppy had come from a reputable private breeder " Diaz .said, "but I later discovered that my puppy had been shipped to Florida from a commercial breeder in Missouri. " Wizard of Claws refused to reimburse any of Diaz's vet bills.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, the documented problems of puppy mills include overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of socialization with humans, overcrowded cages, and the killing of unwanted animals. To the unsuspecting consumer, this often means buying a puppy facing an array of immediate veterinary problems or harboring genetically borne diseases that may not be detected until much later.

Wizard of Claws, which claims to specialize in "tiny, tea-cup size puppies" sells puppies from its Pembroke Pines store and over the Internet. Plaintiff Mary Ibarra of San Antonio, Texas ordered an English Bulldog from Wizard of Claws, and knew that something was very wrong with her new puppy moments after "Gracie" arrived from at the San Antonio International Airport. Gracie, who had received a clean bill of health from Wizard of Claws veterinarian of choice Dr. Jan Bellows, walked on her wrists and she kept falling down on her back legs. Gracie was soon diagnosed as suffering from severe hip dysplasia with early onset arthritis. Gracie's hip sockets are so bad that they do not have a cup to hold the ball of the joint, and she needs at least two surgeries. If the surgeries are not successful Gracie will have to be euthanized. Wizard of Claws refuses to assist with the costs of the surgeries, or to even reimburse the $1200.00 Ibarra paid for the pup.

The lawsuit, which alleges fraud, breach of warranty and multiple counts of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, asks that the plaintiffs be reimbursed for the purchase price of their puppies as well as the veterinary expenses incurred as a result of the purchase an unhealthy pup.

NOTE: Some of the victims of Wizard of Claws and other animal lovers will be demonstrating outside the store at 9101Taft Street, Pembroke Pines tommorow, Saturday, December 13th starting at 11:00 am. Attorneys Mi Kim and Marcy LaHart will be present to answer any questions concerning the case.

Wizard of Claws has become quite a topic in chat rooms . Reports filed: Better Business Bureau and the State of Florida Department of Agriculture.

AUTHOR: Teresa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 11, 2003

Wizard of Claws has become quite a topic in chat rooms. They are also in violation of State Statute by requiring sick pets be taken to their own vet, who of course charges top dollar and tries to identify the cause, even though he may not be qualified in the area necessary. In the end he will go as far as siding in with Wizard of Claws (disagreeing with the specialist that he himself refers you to) to protect them so they do not have to honor their contract or State Statute by reimbursing for medical treatment. It appears he knows where his bread is buttered. All at the expense of an inocent puppies. Check out the Better Business Bureau (Broward County, Florida) web site. I am awaiting a response from the State.

Wizard of Claws is an online puppy mill!

AUTHOR: Katie - (U.S.A.)

These people on online at wizardofclaws.com . They sale lots of breeds of dogs and always have pups available. They breed them down to very unhealthy sizes just to sell them and make money. I have never seen a more obvious puppy mill right out in the open. I looked into buying a puppy from them but seeing as it is really ridiculous how many dogs they have all the time I didn't want to get stuck as many others I know have. I have done a lot of research on puppy mills and even my vet has said if they breed more then 1 or 2 breeds and always have more then 2 litters of puppies readily available they are probably a puppy mill. Go to the website and check for yourself . Buyer beware.
