Harold Buell Likes overcharging everybody ! He is owner of Buell Property management . He's trying to charge me $2930 for and apartment I lived in for over 4 years ! When we first moved in we had to rent a rug doctor and steam clean the whole thing first off ! I had to fix my own water, I had to fix holes in the walls, I had to fix and replace the brackets on the hand railing. The worker that he had try and fix the bathroom sink was so incompetant that I ended up turning the water off on the cold water on that sink because it leaked so bad after he "fixed it" Harold promised the counters would be fixed and promised he would replace the flooring and paint ! Also the sidewalks had holes that were about two feet deep in them for over three years we were told that was going to be fixed within the first week of being there ! Cambridge Townhomes is the worst place you can live !

Also Harold Buell does not repair any of his units as promised ! He lied and made people from unit 245 pay for some thing that was there before ! I found out that he charge three residents for the same thing yet never fixed it ! He has dodged the bullet a few times and not sure how he gets away with it he figures that the people that live in a apartment building don't have money to fight him in court he has even told people that ! Besides that since 2004 there has not been a manager there for more than 4 months he has been through a lot of managers !

Make sure you steer clear of anything with the name Buell involved !!!

he also owns St James and more he has enough money to fix the units up really nicely !

Oh also to see the quality of his recent repairs you really should at least visit 717 NE 82nd Ave
Vancouver, WA 98664

make sure to check out the freshly repaired walls where he put new concrete over everything including the flowers Yes there is now flowers growing through fresh concrete . Also be sure to check out how they modified the gutters !

This place is a dump also he plans on raising the rent to over $700 per unit so beware !

Hes charging friends of mine $750 for the same sixe unit I was paying $510 for is that not a rip off or what ?

Damage Control

I cannot speak for the whole population of people who rent from Buell.

I can speak for myself.  And I can speak for the other tenants who lived in the apartment when I did.

I rented after graduating from USC, magna c*m laude.  I also worked in the White House for four years prior to that.  So, "quality of tenants" isn't an issue here.

I happened to marry the young lady who lived downstairs from me - she was a med student at the time (and a doctor now).  So was one of the other occupants at the time.  I didn't know the fourth occupant.

And regardless of who lived there -

The heat STILL didn't work.  The washing machine STILL didn't work, most of the time.  The walls STILL had holes in them (big enough for birds to crawl through).  And Buell STILL stole my security deposit when I made an effort to IMPROVE his dump of a property. 

Are there worse around?  I'm sure there are but Buell is what he is - a bottom feeder who did as little, and less, than he had to in order to maintain his property and then he freakin' stole my money.

If you like him, good for you, you're standards must be low.  Me?  I'd never recommend his properties - the absolute worst place and the worst landlord I ever encountered.

I LIKE BUELL PROPERTIES ALOT!

I have been a tennant  for 7 years and they have been great!They keep everything cleaned and maintained correctly.I think maybe the negitive feedback is a result of their reasonable monthly fees,which can attract lower income tennants that can bring with them some issues.

Best deal in town!

I like Buell Management

I was a little surprised to come across these comments about Buell Management. I rented an apt from them in NW Portland for a year and it was a pleasant experience. Sure, the front door to the building was broken and therefore could never be locked but I was renting a one bedroom corner apt, hardwood floors with a clawfoot tub for $625 a month on a six month lease. Anywhere else in that neighborhood I would have paid $900 for a studio and had to sign a year long lease. It was a serious bargain. I see now they're renting the unit for $695/mo. Still a serious bargain.
Laurie was the woman we dealt with from Buell Management and she periodically swept our stairway and cleaned the laundry room. When the laundry machines broke, they were fixed. As far a bargain apts go, I was incredibly pleased. I think its important to factor in what you're paying for what you're getting.

I don't know how I ended up here today, but the original Ripoff Report certainly resembles my experience with Harold Buell.

The apartment I rented from Mr. Buell (022 SW Porter) was, to say the least, a dump.  But being just out of college it was the best I could do at the time.

The heat didn't work and Mr. Buell didn't fix it.  I heated the place by getting up in the morning and turning on the oven, leaving the door open.

There were holes in the walls and floor.  One evening I came home from work to find about a dozen birds in my place (I could usually always hear them in the walls).  What a disastrous mess that created!

I made the best of the situation and even made efforts to improve the place.

When I moved in the stairwell, like the rest of the floors in the place, had been painted numerous times in the past and the paint from years of wear was really dinged up.  So I put a new coat of paint on the stairs to make the place look better - and it did look better.

When I moved out Buell kept my security deposit for it!

This *man* defines the word "slum lord".  I can rant on but just be warned that he will not take care of problems with your apartment and he will find any excuse possible to avoid returning your security deposit. 

Stay away from anything with the Buell name on it!
