SiriusXM's abusive billing 7 years of charge on unused device

AUTHOR: NYC tech - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 15, 2014

Anyone has used SiriusXM in the past, you better go through your credit card statement of all months in the past. They sound as they know this trick very well because the rep asks me back 'did you know you enable the feature on your credit card? not many people know...'

Especailly, if you use corporate credit card, be very careful and ask SiriusXM for written cancellation confirmation letter. Otherwise, you will get shocked when you found they have charged for multi years without letting you know. In my case, they charged for 7 years for unused device which I cancelled, then no single dollar was settled to be refunded by them.

They have very unique way of charging you for unused device but hide it for long time.

1. They can charge your new credit card even though you didn't give the information of your new credit card ify ou enabled auto charge feature in your credit card. Not many knows they have had.

2. When you cancel your account, they will give verbal confirmation, no confirmation email, phone, letter, confirmation number. Unless you record the converstaion and keep for 7 years, you have no proof you cancelled it. This is what happened to me.

3. Funny thing is, after you cancelled over the phone, they will stop mailing you anything, no billing, no advertisement, nothing. So they keep quiet and keep charging giving you impression that your account is cancelled.

4. They charge quarterly, which means, if you don't look at your credit card statement every month, you can't find. Or, like my situation, if your account was under corporate account, unless your accountant questions what it is, you won't know.

Dear,

I am complaining about SiriusXM’s billing abuse. They have charged to my credit card for 7 years for a not used device. I called back around 2006 to cancel my account and also gave another call to confirm my account is cancelled. The SiriusXM representative said, the account is cancelled and didn’t give me confirmation# or any reference#. SiriuXM radio has been charging to my credit card until today I receive a letter from them offering a new account upgrade. They have never sent me an invoice or any account status, no phone call, no email for several years. Only they have done is charging to my credit card quarterly. Because of that, their charges don’t appear on my credit card statement monthly, I didn’t catch their billing abuse.

I called SiriusXM radio to find why they have charged for an unused device for 7 years, they say, they can’t find any record the account cancellation request, so they refuse to give back credit for the charge on unused device. I asked to provide when was the last date the device was active, the first representative said, 2006, then when I spoke to a manager, she said there’s no record for device status.  I talked to multiple SiriusXM radio representatives, first person said, I called around 2010 and updated my credit card information as well. I questioned them why I would update my credit card information to SiriusXM when I knew my account was cancelled and I don’t use the service. Then, they say I didn’t call, but they charged to my old credit card, then the charge has been forwarded to my new credit card. I don’t know if this is possible or legal. They say, my bank is authorized to forward charge on my old card to new card. Basically, what it means, they have been charging to my expired credit card for 3 years and the charge is forwarded to new card.

If there’s any method I can use to resolve this issue in a way where both is mutually satisfied by bringing SiriusXM radio to an active discussion, please let me know.  They seem to take the issue as an usual billing complaint they can ignore.  Also, please record this complaint at any filing to prevent further consumers’ loss.

I cannot believe these people are still getting away with this. Isn't anyone going to stop them?
