USA Athletes International, Inc. USAAI, USA Athletes adding charges to account after contract paid in full Olathe, Kansas

     My daughter was invited to play softball with USA Athletes International.  She chose the Australia trip.  She entered into a contract with USAAI and agreed to pay or raise 4598.00 for the trip.  She was invoiced on October 09, 2007.

     She paid her 250.00 deposit as required on 10/24/2007.  The contract stated full payment was due and had to be postmarked by May 23, 2008.  The contract was paid in full as agreed.  She even raised an extra 100.00.  Which we were going to request back upon her return, becuase if you not write a formal request asking for the excess USAAI keeps it.

     Her trip was from July 18th through July 30th 2008.  On 7/24/2008 USAAI adds on additional charges of $210.57 for an exchange rate between AUD and USD and $243.00 for an airline fule surcharge.  We do not understand how these extra charges can be added after full payment was made as agreed upon per the contract signed.  I could possibly see her owning the charges if they had added them piror to the May 23rd deadline.  But, if USAAI waited until the last possibly moment to purchase the tickets and received a non favorable exchange rate should she be punshied? 

     She has been exchanging emails with USAAI the past few months but it appears USAAI is now turning this over for collection and has now added a 75.00 collection fee. 

     Next step is to contact our lawyer to see what if anything can be done.
