Harvey Mayo claimed he could build a replica of a "time Machine" with working lights and spinning wheel. I paid $1800. After 10 months I learned he had not even started on it. He will not return my money.
He called every two days for a month until I agreed to let him build one.
He is a very smooth and convincing talker. A great salesman!
His response is; "it will be ready in 2 weeks".
It is still not ready nore has he returned my money.

On 4/14/2007 Harvey stated on this site he was sending the model to me. Well... No model was sent. Okay Harvey what is your excuse this time. You bet I got upset waiting for completion, you gave me over 10 differant dates you were sending it. I got the message you are not sending it. Could it be because there is no model so I stand in line with all the others you have taken money from and keep giving these lame excusses for not delivering a product!! Why not have a MORAL MOMENT and return my money that even the courts have agreed you own me. How about COMPLETE PENANCE and return all of our money's. The list is growing when will this stop!!

I was not a client! Mayo called me for 2 months until I said I would let him buid me a non working model for $1800. after 10 months he said he would make it a working one for no more money. He has NO other projects other than finding new victims to give him money for a model he has no intention of delivering. I sued him in court and won. He scammed and lied to me. There are many more people he has done this to. Do not do business with him, or do so with extreme caution! Ed

Harvey your response to this report reads like a standard form. There are many victims of your exact same method. You tell many people the same thing over and over and when they complain you ALWAYS state you were rushed, fitting it in between your regular projects and it was about to be mailed any day or next week. I am sure you have a form letter you use. If anyone would like proof of what I have stated you only need to visit the well known site of Don Coleman and his forum. If links are permitted on here you can find the forum at:

There are at least 5 victims that I am aware of and there are at least 2 judgments against Harvey Mayo Designs for failing to deliver the model. Some victims have waited over 10 years and are still waiting. Fees paid in advance have varied from over $8,000 to nearly $2,000. NO ONE has ever received a refund for undelivered and prepaid models.
And in case you are curious, I am not Ed or the person(s) you are referring to in this particular rip off! I am just very aware of your actions and was lucky enough to avoid being a target of yours. I was in the process of researching a top model builder and almost contacted you to build a time machine. Thank goodness for the Colemanzone forum and rip off report! Now I am helping those you have taken advantage of to spread the word about your business practices.

I was contacted by my client to construct a miniature Time Machine model, like the one used in the 1960 Film The Time Machine. I asked my client if she wanted a working or a non-working model, she decided on a non-working version. I told my client that I would try to complete the model as fast as I could, for I still had to work on my regular projects as well, and I am a one-man business, so some of my regular projects keep me away from working on the miniature. I had alot of delays trying to work on The Time Machine model, and my client was getting very upset because of the delays, but I told her I would not sacrafice quality to rush the completion. After their were so many delays, I told my client that I would make up for making her wait so long for completion, by building her a working model instead of the non-working one she ordered for 1,800. I normally charged at least double the amount for a working model, but I felt that would please her, and surly make-up for my delays, but I guess that was not enough. The model will be shipped to my client next week. Hand made models like The Time Machine take a lot of time to construct, and I guess that should have been mentioned all the time I was working on her model, but I did not want to discourage her, for I know she would be happy in the end with a great model.
