My experience with Home Depot for having our kitchen remodeled has been a nightmare. We ordered our cabinets and waited the 6 weeks for delivery. The installers came in the next week to install. Half way through the installation they realized that they had a couple of parts that were ordered incorrectly. They re-ordered the correct parts. When the parts were reordered, they ordered the part incorrectly. A cabinet was ordered instead of an end panel.

At this point, we were upset but understood that problems happen in ordering the parts. We have 2 small children and were 8 weeks into the project with our kitchen torn apart, appliances in our family room, vent holes in the floor, and trim and carpet tacking left out for my children- 3 years and 1 1/2 - to get into. I spoke with home depot and got the response that this is normal and that it is not their fault.

When explaining that my father would not put us up for any longer, I received the response from my home depot representative that I should put up a temporary refrigerator and make it work. I was considerably upset at this point, especially due to the fact that they had told me it would be another 6 weeks to order our part correctly. I told them that we needed to return our purchases and we would go through another company. Our designer told me that this was impossible due to we had already begun installing the cabinets.

I accepted this, and waited for our part to be ordered. It was ordered incorrectly again. The installers that came out to complete the installation thinking that we had the correct part, called home depot and asked to install the incorrect part so we could take the next step- measuring for our countertops. When speaking with home depot they had told us that they were trying to get the installers to go ahead and install this part that was ordered incorrectly so we could order our countertops and that they wouldn't install them. Upon this new devolopment they were not wanting to install the incorrect part because they wouldn't be able to return it.

Now, we are still waiting for the part- on the 3rd time trying to order it correctly. We are 15 weeks into the project and looking at an additional 6-8 weeks for completion with the hope that everything goes well.

I definitely recommend not using them for any kind of major purchases. I was calling them every day and they hadn't even reordered our part after the 2nd time we received it wrong.

I have read the suggestion to not pay for the products. We had the same thinking and have charged the parts. At this point we just would like to have our kitchen back in order and home depot call us to see how things are going or apologize for their blatant mistakes.
