My son had saved up$2000.00 for a car. So we found what we thought was a great deal on ebay from Rodd.

Well when we had it shipped home the truck driver couldnt even get it started to get it off his truck. Bad feeling already.

When we contacted him to let him know that his ad was grossly misleading,and to see if he would make it right, he got bent out of shape and only offered 1/4 of my son's savings account back.

My son then cried again( second time that happened,first time was when he saw car wouldn't fire right up)and told me to let him keep all his money just give him every bad review you can to save other people from getting hurt like he did.

Please stay away.

His descriptioN of the car was fantastic! Made it sound to be a real gem!  That it only needed a small amount of repairs and

It would be a handsome car indeed. When i told him we were quoted at least $4000 in repairs that is not a smart car?

 

The seller knew before hand that it was for a teenager he could have been an honest person with me but he wasn't.

 

He did offer me my money back but I had to take everything off this site first,and only then would my son get his money. We all know that can't happen, I offered to come back on here after he made good for real,but he chose his path and now he sits here on this site and calls people names and tell everyone how crazy or whatever mentally wrong with the buyer. We are all people that have been truely scammed by this man.

 

As i was and unfortunetly others were too,there is only one warning, A fool and his money are soon parted. This guy is excellent with words, but hes a coward because he cant back them up. Poor excuses from this scammer. You have been fairly warned.

Unreasonable buyer! Fair seller, it seems.

 I read this complaint and the first thing that comes to mind is why would a parent support a 16 year old son in buying a "cheap" Jaguar as a first car. Most people know that old luxury cars have problems because there is more to go wrong. A 92 Jaguar for 2 grand??? What do you expect? I had a little Japanese 4 cylinder as my first car which was cheap but also cheap to maintain.

So my understanding is; a 16 year old wants a Jaguar for his first car, buys it off eBay, the advertisement says it is a "fixer-upper", clearly did not go look at it, buys it for cheaper than the market price and then when he gets it cries because there was something wrong with it. And then blames the seller.

If I can believe what is said here, the seller even offers a refund even though it was an "as-is" auction but the buyer denies the offer. Whos to blame here? Am I missing something?

Rodd contacted me to see what he could do,that is a true fact, but when he offered me $500 (a 1/4) of my sons's money( which he had saved for 3 yrs from detassling!) my son felt betrayed again by this stranger. He wondered what did he do to deserve this? Rodd demanded that I change all my words on this and other sites in exchange for that $500 though.

He has called me names,which I have on email, and he has tried many times to make me go back and have all things taken off this site, which we all know that cant happen, in exchange for a small portion of my money. Yes we did speak,but my witnesses in the room heard the whole conversation between us, and he made that car out to be the best ever. Afraid not even close.

Now he says that he will give all money back but I have to fix all the wrongs of my words. My words are true, and factual( and he knows it).He tells me fix all the words, then you can ship the car back to me, and then I'll send check. Ummm no! Swindled once,not doing that again. My words stay! Permanently. Do the transaction just as we had the trasaction started,and I will come back and say you made this easy,but you have fought and fought,and then turned to name calling,and demeaning phrases.

The complainant bought a car on eBay that was listed as "in need of work" and non-operating. The eBay auction was on an "as-is" basis.

The buyer rang me before bidding advising they had never bought a car before on eBay. I explained the process and the condition of the car and made her aware of its need for work.

She purchased the car for $1,955 which is well below market price for the car (92 Jaguar Vanden Plas).

Unhappy after receiving it, I offered a contribution towards its repair. She declined citing the preference to leave neagtive feedback on eBay. (odd??)

As I was to find out that the car was/is for her 16 year old son, I have offered a complete refund for the purchase. Not out of obligation but as a "gratis" gesture of good faith. She has not accepted at time of writing. There is not much more I can do.

Buyers on eBay should carefully review the terms of purchase and also have cars independently inspected PRIOR to purchase if they are unsure. Buyers have responsibilities as qwell as sellers. If you have issues, discuss them with the seller. Filing disputes is not the soloution. Communication and reaching resolve is the correct thin to do.

Respectfully, this was an older Jaguar listed on ebay on an "as-is" auction clearly stating the car needs work and is NOT in operating condition. The listing stated the car had been in storage for several years and needs work.

The buyer spoke to me BEFORE the auction ended and I explained the car's status and condition. She bought the car after. Now she is not happy. I explained that I made it clear in the listing and offered to contribute towards the cost even though the advert was clear and with disclaimers on the fact the car needed work.

I feel sorry that this car is not right for her. It was/is a "Fixer-upper" and NOT suitable for her 16 year old son as a first car.

I am happy to give a complete refund on a total "gratis" basis. Writing bad reveiws is not the solution.

Discussing calmly to reach a mutual resolve is the right way. I cant do any more than offer her money back.

The offer is still available.
