Henderson, North CarolinaTOYOTA OF HENDERSON STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOW LIFE DEALERS AT TOYOTA OF HENDERSON THEY RIPPED ME OFF BIG TIME!
I was having clutch problems with my 1992 toyota tercel (car not wanting to go in gear grinding and all that) so I decided to let TOYOTA OF HENDERSON install a newn clutch for me because I wanted the job done right. The job cost over $500 for them to do it. I paid the money went and picked up my car and really didn't drive it much after that for about 2 years, during that time I couldn't have put more than 10,000 miles on this car, then I started driving it again and just a few weeks later guess what? Yes you guessed it the clutch does the exact same thing as it was before I had it replaced. (Im a 37 year old Trucker by the way and been driving a manual car since I was 18)
So I take the car back to TOYOTA OF HENDERSON explaining that the clutch is acting up just as before and asking about a warranty on the clutch. So TOYOTA OF HENDERSON halfway checks the car out and says 'Oh it cant be the clutch it must be your transmission this time' I explain to them that I know my car very well and i dont think its the transmission because its doing the exact same thing as it was before TOYOTA OF HENDERSON worked on it.
So to keep from stirring up a big argument I just took his word for it and drove off since the car was still drivable and I didn't have the money to replace the transmission. Not long after that the clutch got so bad that I just couldn't drive it anymore and I took it back to TOYOTA OF HENDERSON and a guy test drove the car and told me that my clutch had gone bad. I was given a quote of over $1000 to replace the same clutch that TOYOTA OF HENDERSON had replaced before for a lil over $500 and was told that I couldn't get a warranty replacement. (Guess this explains why TOYOTA OF HENDERSON decided it was actually the clutch this time) Anyway I wasn't about to pay TOYOTA OF HENDERSON that kind of money for another clutch when TOYOTA OF HENDERSON are the reason why the first one didn't hold up.
So I took the car to another mechanic that I know very well who does real good work and he tells me that he will charge me $250 if I will buy the part yes you read that correctly $250 so the clutch kit cost me $100 I bought it but when I return to give him the part he tells me that TOYOTA OF HENDERSON didn't install or replace the pilot bearing needed to install the clutch and it had done a significant amount of damage to my transmission so I also needed another transmission. This explains why I needed another clutch in the first place all because TOYOTA OF HENDERSON was too sorry and lazy and money hungry to put the pilot bearing on my car it cost me all of this unnecessary trouble.
I feel like this was very lazy and immoral on TOYOTA OF HENDERSON'S part and I really hope TOYOTA OF HENDERSON burn in hell for treating me this way. I want to advise anyone thinking of buying a car or doing any kind of business with TOYOTA OF HENDERSON to BEWARE! BEWARE!! BEWARE!!! AND TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! I want to thank RIPOFF REPORT for letting me voice my opinion and expose such a large company because you give the little guy a voice for SCUM BAGS like TOYOTA OF HENDERSON!!!

I am a bit confused about your report. Are you suggesting that it is unrealistic to expect that a SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD CAR might actually need some major service??? I am surprised that they would even service your old Tercel, seeing as how Toyota hasn't even made that model in over a decade.

All repairs have a warranty period base on mileage and/or time.
Usually both. So perhaps TOYOTA OF HENDERSON screwed up the original clutch repair, but they likely gave you a warranty on their work such as 90 days or 3000 miles- or whatever. You allowed to let the repair warranty die without using the vehicle & now you are stuck. This happens.
Ask reputable people in the auto repair trade for repair shop recommendations. Auto dealers usually just want to sell you a new car and perform the easy, low-risk auto maintanence tasks.
I have no doubt that you can probably drive a stick shift. I know I can, because I learned to drive on a Model-A crashbox. It had been my grandfather's Ford. I learned to upshift & downshift without clashing gears. I also know that I have put 85,000 miles on a stickshift without the clutch ever needing an adjustment.
