I was interested in there online offer, so when they called I was pleased to listen for almost an hour to their explanations. I was told that I would be billed $74.40 *one time* and that would get me a 12 issue subscription to 5 magazines. That didn't seem too unreasonable so I agreed and signed up.
((Thank goodness that my debit card was stolen the next week))

I have never received anything from American Reading Club, but I have started receiving magazines that I didn't sign up for with bills for subscription. Now I have to contact all these magazines and ask that they cancel the subscription because I did not request it.
Also, representatives (who can't decide if they are calling for American ReadING Club or American ReadERS Club) have been calling me several times a day for the past 5 days threatening to report me to collections. Saying that my account is past due, and that I agreed to pay $74.40 a month for (3, 5, 7) months depending on who is harassing me.
I am calling my bank tomorrow to see if they can help. Where I live the only way to contact the police is to call 911. I do not look forward to wasting that precious resource on these miscreants.
