I received a letter from the City Global Financial Trust on 07-22-08 stating that I was a winner of a North American Sweepstakes Lottery held on May 30, 2008. Supposedly, I was picked randomly and the letter was accompanied by a check to pay the taxes on my winnings in the amount of 4.875.00. The check looked real with the water mark and all. However, I am glad that I thought to check the internet first before I even bothered to call the number provided. This is one of the most insensitive and tasteless jokes I have ever seen. Especially in such a 'crunch time' in the economy. The last paragraph to the letter contains the word that describes those who have designed this scam: 'unscrupulous'. I hope no elderly people fall for this.
