Leesville, South CarolinaHope someone can help me respond to the BBB. I know this company did us wrong but still can't think of how to rebute their response. Maybe 'chasehealthadvance/unicorn' isn't the same as care credit but their tactics sure are the same.
MY COMPLAINT TO BBB:
First of all, if you go to http://www.ripoffreport.com and search for 'Care Credit' - you will see 96 other complaints from people who have been treated like me by this company.
I made all my payments and when my balance was down to $356.00, I called to get a payoff amount. I was told an additional $429.91 in deferred finance charges had been added to my account because I had missed the last payment.
I explained that I had been waiting for my stimulis check to pay off the balance. The representative was very rude and threatening. She threatened how it would effect my credit standing and promised the interest would keep accruing. She made it very clear that they would keep calling. And that they did...every morning and evening - weekdays and weekends (early and late). They called me at work and even called my Mother.
I had given this company practically every penny I owed them in good faith and feel they should have worked with me on the finance charges. I have paid the $356.00, but I feel the finance charge of $429.91 is uncalled for.
THEIR RESPONSE:
Ms. Stone authorized a purchase on her Unicorn Financial Services, now ChaseHealthAdvance, Revolving Credit Line on 12/18/2006 for an 18-month 'No Interest Financing (Same as Cash/Minimum Payment) Program: A Minimum Monthly Payment is due each month during the promotional plan period. If you pay the full cash sale price of the purchase by promotional due date and pay the Minimum Monthly Payment when due each billing cycle, no FINANCE CHARGES will be imposed on purchases. If such payments are not made, FINANCE CHARGES will be imposed from the purchase date at the APR set forth shown on the Approved Credit Notification and Purchase Verification Invoice.' Unicorn Financial Services and ChaseHealthAdvance are not, nor have ever been, affiliated with 'Care Credit.'
Minimum Monthly Payments are due on Ms. Stone's account on the 12th of each month in the amount of $112.20; however, payments received after the Monthly Payment Due Date are subject to late fees as disclosed in the Unicorn Revolving Account Agreement and Disclosure Statement.
The Minimum Monthly Payment:
$112.20 due on 04/11/2008 received on 06/19/2008, 69-days late
Due to the unpaid Minimum Monthly Payments on the Account, ChaseHealthAdvance Collections Customer Support Advisors attempted to reach Ms. Stone through the contact information provided by Ms. Stone. The role of Customer Support Advisors are to reconcile the delinquency on the account and appropriately advise consumers of their account status and offer information to assist the consumer in making informed decisions regarding their ChaseHealthAdvance account. The terms of the No Interest Financing Program does not provide for deferred Minimum Monthly Payment options.
The No Interest Financing Program cancelled due to delinquency (unpaid Minimum Monthly Payment aka Past Due balance). Therefore, the payments received were outside of the Account Agreement terms causing Finance Charges to be imposed from the purchase date.
ChaseHealthAdvance will continue to bill the Minimum Monthly Payment until the account balance has been satisfied.
