fayetteville, TennesseeI would like people to be aware of a scam going on where they send you a check in your name in the amount of $4,930. They call it a Cash Grant Award. They have picked you to receive a grant of $9,860.00 total. The first check is for you to deposit in your bank. Once you deposit it you have 5 days to send the 10% 'commision' of $986.00 to the 'broker' that let you in on the deal. Once he receives the 'commision' then he will next Day Air Express the rest of your money. They even threaten you as saying that if you cash the check and he doesn't receive his 'commision' then it will go on your credit report and will be there for 7 years. They even have a website to help you pay this fast: it's www.AwardChecks.com
Now all of this looks pretty ligit. And in these times of recession a lot of people will fall for this. But anyone knows that a bank takes 10 business days to process an out of town check. And they want their commision in 5 days. Everyone just needs to be aware that you do not get something for nothing.
