HOUSTON, TexasAs my husband and I were sitting on our front porch we were approached by an Icon salesman. I have never used any kind security services before and as we listened to what he had to offer and thought it was a good deal. Not once did this guy ever tell us we needed a permit for the alarm. We let him know we were renters and wanted to know how that would work for the security system. He told me we could move the system whenever we were ready to move. When we asked him about the billing cycle he informed me that we would not have to pay anything at the moment but would be billed next month. As I gave him my credit card info I expressed to him that my card would not be available for charges until next month and he stated, 'no problem'. In filling out the application (he filled out all information) he started asking for personal info such as social security numbers for everyone over 18 yrs in the house. We did give him this info as he expressed that it is just in case the alarm goes off they can verify who has a right to be on the property. He also asked for the name of my landlord which I did provide. He was also trying to get her personal info out of me but I was in no way going to give out someone else's information. I just gave him her name.
It was our understanding while he was speaking w/us that everything would be under my husbands name. While the install tech was performing his duties he informed me that the credit card number I was using was not accepting the charges. I had already told the salesman it wasn't going to go through and he said, 'no problem'. I don't know what they did but everything was installed by 10:00 pm that night. Upon reading the contract I noticed my husband never signed anything. To my suprise I also noticed the salesman had actually forged my landlord's signature at least twice. After seeing that I knew immediately we wanted out of this contract. My husband signed the notice of cancellation and it was faxed over the next morning to the security company. I even called to verify that it had been received and the services would be cancelled. I also informed them about their forging salesman but they didn't seem to suprised at all. After almost 2 months of waiting for them to come pick up their equipment I decided to give them a call to make sure again that the services were cancelled. That is when they informed me that their was a note on my accounted dated 4 days after I sent in cancellation staing that we had discussed the account w/the sales rep and decided to keep our services. This is soooo not true. As I tried to explain to the sales rep at the time he informed me he would send it over to the fraud department. When asked about a contact number for the fraud department he refused to give it to me. When asked to speak w/a supervisor he stated there was no other person for me to speak to. Out of frustration I hung up and called back later that after noon to try to speak to someone else. I got to speak w/Josh who did not want to give his last name only his extension number. I didn't even get to explain my situation when he put me on hold so that he could talk to the same sales rep who gave me a hard time earlier this morning. When I asked Josh if I could speak to someone else he informed me that he was highest person in his department. With that kind of authority you would think he wouldn't mind giving out his last name! He stated someone would be giving me a call back. When I asked if he even had a contact number he stated no and I then gave him my number. Then he says the company did try to call back 'Emily' but no answer. I informed him 'Emily' had nothing to do with this contract. The only reason he name was on it was because they had forged her name.
I am still waiting for the call from the fraud department. It amazes me how they did not seem to be suprised at the fact their sales rep was making false statements and committing forgery just to make a sale. I didn't realize these charges were still being billed to my credit card because I was no longer using the card and wouldn't even bother to look at my statements when they came in. What also worries me is now these guys have our social and credit card information. Meanwhile charges are still being added to my credit card.I do realize that we should of used more discretion when giving out personal info and only blames ourselves for that. This looked to be a stand up company but the way they have treated us truly unfair! What a way to learn a lesson! Biggest rip off ever...............
Mad as hell
