Cumming, GeorgiaScenic Homes sells half-finished brand new homes in seamingly nice subdivisions. They start off the scam by having the Building Superintendent force buyers to sign off on the 'items to survive closing list' before everything is finished by telling you that you can't close until you sign off. The 'walk-through' is performed an hour before closing so you don't have much choice but to follow through. Not to mention they talk you out of having your home privately inspected prior to closing and tell you that if you do they do not have to accept the suggestions and/or make the necessary repairs. That is to their discretion.
This follows promises to complete all outstanding work within the next couple of weeks. That does not happen and if it does, it doesn't come without hours of making phone calls, sending emails and faxes, etc. to communicate with them. You will NEVER get to speak to any of the owners or 'higher up' people. You will only speak to their warranty department who will offer very little assistance.
We had our home privately inspected prior to our 10-month warranty and were horrified at what we found. We had a long list of code violations, some of which we are still fighting with them about, and we have had 10 service calls for our HVAC system on a home that is less than 2 years old. We just finished having drywall repaired for the 2nd week in a row (for the same job) and it still is not done correctly.
We want to get the word out to other unsuspecting, prospective buyers that if you do decide to purchase a home from Scenic Homes, 'buyer beware'!!!!! We also have MANY neighbors that are not happy and if we had it to do over again, we would NEVER buy a Scenic Home.
Scenic has NO customer service sense whatsoever. Their level of communication is little to none. We are still curious as to how they stay in business because with business practices such as theirs, it makes absolutely no sense! They are very unprofessional and have no respect or concern for their homeowners. Once you sign the papers and they get their money, they wash their hands of you basically. They will cover the warranty at the bare minimum and won't go a step further, whether it is warranted or not.
