pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaI wish I had listened to the report I had read on www.ripoffreport.com before I chose to interview with this company. It pretty much went exactly how the other reports said it did. I went in for an insanely quick first round interview where I may have been there for 15 minutes total... I was then informed that the guy was interviewing at least 15 more candidates before the end of the day and I would be called back if i qualified for a second round interview.
I got the phone call and set it up so that I would go in the following day from 9-6 for a full day in the field with an employee. I showed up and waited for about 30 minutes with 3 other people and was introduced to someone that was still currently a college student who would be taking me out for the day.
I did a little pressing and found out that we would be walking around Bloomfield (not the best area) selling discounted Pittsburgh Pirates tickets. Not impressive. After a little more pressing I found out that the 'management training' program consisted of an hour or two of meetings in the morning and then being sent door to door trying to sell whatever discount product they were offering that day (and this went on for 8 months to a year). Again... not Impressive.
The one person I was with actually told me (when I asked what made him choose this company) he chose the Ivins Group, and I quote 'because it was on monster.com'. I politely thanked them for my time, called my ride and sat at a starbucks where i heard them come in and give their little talk and promptly get ejected for trying to solicit on premises.
If you are willing to deal with a year of door to door sales before you get to manage your own little group of door to door salesman, and also willing to work for bare minimum pay (the job was 100% comission, imagine what you could make off of selling $30 packs of tickets all day!) then this may be the job for you. However, for anyone who has graduated from college, do NOT, i repeat, DO NOT waste your time with this company.
