bakersfield, caMy husband and I discovered an unathorized charge to our account on Friday, February 22, 2002. We saw that the charge was from a Shoppers Advantage, a company neither my husband or myself ever heard of.
We immediatly called the 800 number listed with the charge. We recieved a recorded message stating to call back later, because of the high volume of calls. We called our bank, Wells Fargo, and discovered we were not the only ones to be charged by this company we have not heard of. Our bank promptly took care of it, returning the $69.99 to our account.
They placed a claim for the issuance of a new card. After this we called Shoppers Advantage again. We spoke with a person who claims we had a free trial membership, which had expired. We never recieved any paperwork, no notification, nor did we agree to sign up for this program. We have removed ourselves from their database, but we will continue to be dilligent against this type of scam.
