WELLS FARGO DISCRIMINATES AND STEALS FROM THE DISABLED
I have been with Wells Fargo for 3 or so years after being with Bank of America for over 20 years.
I got hurt at work and have been on Workman’s Comp disability since June of 2013. That same month, I noticed that some transactions that were not mine. I found I had been hacked. I went into my local branch and tried to close that first account, but couldn’t because I had a few debits that had not posted. I was told the account would be frozen, no outgoing or incoming transactions would be allowed to take place without my authorization. I was told the account would be closed when my debits cleared. I opened a new account, got a temporary debit card and ordered new checks. I later was on the phone with the Fraud department for over an hour going thru the statement disputing the transactions I did not make. I was promised I would not be liable for any charges on that account once the freeze was put on it
Exactly 2 weeks later, the SECOND account was hacked. I went thru everything stated above all over again. I opened a THIRD account. Everything was fine since then, or so I thought. I went to the bank on Wednesday, March 5th to get a cashiers check for my rent plus a portion of the back rent I owe, having a mental note of the amount I had in my account. Imagine my surprise when the teller Informed me that I actually had almost $400.00 less than I was supposed to have. I spoke to a banker and she told me that the $ 385.71 was withdrawn (stolen, in my opinion) because a previous account I had was overdrawn. I was given a print out and I saw that the account that was overdrawn was the first one that had been hacked. I let her know that I needed that money because I was on the verge of being evicted. They told me that because the funds I received were not from a government agency, they had the right to take it. It was from my job’s insurance company. What difference does that make, I don’t know because it’s still not my full salary and need every penny to survive. For the next few days I called, got a different person each time and several different stories of what happened. I heard allot of “it’s not my department”. I got hung up on several times. Some people told me it was the bank’s errors, others told me it was mine and I would not get my money back. Yes, I was aggravated and raised my voice a few times and yes, I said a few curse words.
ALL of the people there were rude and unsympathetic. I even emailed the CEO, John G. Stumpf TWICE, without so much as an acknowledgement. When I tried to call him, they refused to put me thru and 2 of the meanest and rudest women in the executive office had the audacity to insinuate that I am the one that caused all the problems, basically calling me a thief. ONE very sweet lady named Iris promised that the funds would be put back into my account on a provisional basis pending the conclusion of the investigation.
That Friday, I was served with a 3 day notice to quit. I am in no position, physically or financially to move. I had to beg the property manager to give me a chance to repay the back rent, luckily he is a warm blooded human being and agreed to work with me. I have no gas in my car and no money to even buy food for my cat. I have gone days without eating or sleeping and I blame everyone at Wells Fargo, including John G. Stumpf, and Mary Lindstrom who wrote the letter warning me of the upcoming debit that I received on Monday, the 10th, almost a week after the fact.
I do not know how they sleep at night doing what they do to people. I don’t know how they stay in business. I no longer trust ANY bank.
