Exact same experience as previously reported and I am glad I checked here to verify that my experience is consistent with others'. My Slingbox worked fine initially but I had to contact them three times during my 90 days for their help to get the thing up and running again. Of course I never equated this to the updates because I never used the thing very frequently and they're ALWAYS coming up with updates.

I tried about 10 to 20 - yet much more tries today, to just to see what would happen:
To start I went to Firefox, did several things, then arrived where I put my email address and password in, found your Slingbox - from there strange things happen:
1) Found Slingbox, Check Firmware - is up to date
2) It forgot - Wrong password, input password - retry
3) Found Slingbox - Create new password
4) Congratulations we found it
5) Forgot password - Wrong Password
6) Input new Password
7) Shows Video and where Connected
8) Cannot find Slingbox - retry
9) It forgot again - Wrong Password - input password - retry
10) Check firmware - up to date
11) Show video and what is connected
12) Still forgets - wrong password - input password - retry
13) Check Cable Channels - Check Performance - finished
14) Can not find Slingbox - No video
15) Check Remote - Watch TV - changes channels 3-5 then 3 again
16) Later it found Channels it skipped yesterday, finally finished
17) Try to use stand alone Software that works yesterday - Slingbox not found.
18) Still nothing.
19) Try Firefox again - after logon it forgot everything
20) It can not remember Password was right
Connected to Router or Cable Modem - with reserved IP Address and Port Forwarding or placed in DMZ - yet still not reliable. Sometimes worked just connected, with no DHCP given, and no Port Forwarding or DMZ, just the same or better, yet not reliable too.

Slingbox is a scam

If you have cable TV service, you probably have at least one set-top box in your house. On Monday December 10, 2012 a federal rule change takes effect that could eventually force you to rent more cable boxes. Right now, most cable systems dont scramble the basic tier service which includes local broadcast stations, public, government and education
channels, as well as some non-premium programming. Buy basic service and you can plug the cable into a digital set that has a QAM tuner and see these unencrypted channels without a set-top box.
Companies want to scramble everything coming through their wire, including basic service. They say this will allow them to reduce theft prevent people from watching programs they didnt pay for and improve customer service.
I bought the Sling Box Pro HD it worked bad, bad picture, hard to change channels, back in box it went to ignore. Big mistake, I found that after too much time went by the product stopped working, when I tried it again. I called the company to troubleshoot the issue and they refused to help me, unless I paid $30 - that is for every call, told me its beyond the 90 day warranty, therefore they hung-up on me. Slingbox should not be trusted or supported for their complete lack of service. It cost $300 Dollars some places, never did work right. No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Cables Companies can encrypt their Video after December !0, 2012 and Slingbox will be worthless - Make sure to return it were you bought it, if its not working, you might pay more than $200 Dollar just to get help and find you never could use it to begin with.

I can prove your right

They did it to me too - Today as I tried to use it.
*Warning* To anyone who bought any of their products and therefore can not use it - If you can return it, do it quickly, their products are a Big Scam.
I bought this from someone on Ebay, it wrote, New Slingbox PRO HD SB300-100, I would not doubt they sold it because they can not use it.
Slingbox does expect money for help - fixing their network problem, their internet site problem, or unuseable on several browsers - unusable perhaps on any other than, Internet Explorer, they refuse to accept the problems - your forced to solve the problem, yet they sold it to you.
It would finally accept my Email Address, then my Password, I could look at my account, yet refuses to let me online - Error message is wrong password. Pershaps refuses to work on Firefox. Change password does not work - refuses any password.
I would show a picture of me, while I have access to my account, to see my personal information - yet would show too much about me for public view. I will prove my IP Address was 38.99.15.35, a server at: Cloud-Sense Technology Corporation Ltd. Hong Kong
Very time consuming process to get online - expect to wait . When I first used it - it was stubborn to use, and so stubborn to change channels.
Years ago, when they sold a ((competitor's name redacted))), you received your money's worth, yet slingbox was worse, (((competitor's name redacted))) is so simple, and reliable, once your setup, all you do is touch an app, it starts right up, and you can resize the picture, the way you want, in seconds, or few minutes which rarely happens to me. With Slingbox, perhaps can only use Internet Explorer, must go through several pages of setup, to logon, or password being refused - a time consuming problem - Slingbox is so time consuming to try to get online, stubborn to change channels. (((redacted))) had its problem, not having enough heatsinks, on the hot components, with the cooling fan to work with, when it over heats, it interrupts the video. Now that I have the covers off and several heatsinks, I rarely have problems, its a much sharper picture too.
Slingbox misled me to think it would give me High Defintion Pictures - (((redacted))) is far better
sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
