If you Google search "register to vote" http://registertovote.org 's  paid ad comes up first.  Their site claims that they are a non-partisan organization that just wants to "simplify the voter registration process" by allowing you to register to vote online via their site.  (They get away with this by appearing to be a legit government or non-profit political speech organization with helpful info and links for people wishing to vote.)

However, they are just a phishing scam to get your personal info and bill you for unsolicited text messages.  You will note that their site provides no contact info at all and that the site are registered through a company (domainsbyproxy.com) whose whole purpose is to hide the true identity of the sites that it represents.

They took my wife's drivers license, cell phone number and address, then they text messaged  her a "pin #" for her to complete the registration on the site.  When she completed the registration with the "pin #"  her cell phone was billed for an unauthorized $9.95 charge, which if left uncancelled apparently becomes a recurring monthly charge for political phone polls and info.

Also, no voter registration form was ever emailed as promised. Complete SCAM .  Beware this election season.  If you wish to register to vote, here is the US Government's legit site: http://www.eac.gov/voter_resources/register_to_vote.aspx

DON'T use these MIDDLEMEN!

Besides getting ripped off, you won't even be able to vote.

When I was in school, we had "voter registration drives".

Let's just say alot of people's registrations "got lost" for obvious reasons.

https://registertovote.org is a secure and legit website. You reference it as non secure, and that is false. Then you state that there is no contact, when there clearly is on the top of the page.  Then you say that it bills you for unsolicited text messages. This is not true. Finally, you argue that you didnt even get the email. Maybe you should check your spam folder. We had an issue for three days in mid April and we think that this is the reason for some of your concerns, but this is no longer the case.

Furthermore,  I assure you that we are a very legit and reputable organization and currently running very smoothly, with a goal to help future voters to register to vote and make it as easy as possible. In the past month, we have only gotten positive feedback by thousand of citizens. Please take down this post as you are hurting the reputation of an honest business.

Thanks
