I am located in PA, had ordered $741.00 worth of jewelry online from a (reputable-looking) company based out of New York. They were delivered on Christmas Eve, and I found the items to be damaged and discolored. I thought about it for a couple days and figured that I should be extremely happy with an $800 purchase, and I wasn't.
I had called to discuss the issue on January 2nd and had also on the same day emailed them my number to be called. I never received a reply. The voicemail sounded like a home machine that just beeped and didn't state a company name or anything, this made me a bit nervous. I wondered if it was a company in someone's basement posing as a reputable big new york company. I got nervous and returned all of the jewelry on January 15th and I disputed the charge on my card. Citbank didn't really help me in this respect because they said I "okay'd" the purchase to begin with. So in the meantime I actually got an email saying they had recieved my package and gave me an in store credit.
I really didn't like that I had received a credit due to the fact that they gave me damaged goods in the first place and also the lousy service...no call as requested.
I know I should have checked their policy online (7 day return, and with only instore credit offered) this was my fault, but... I replied to request just a credit to my card and how unhappy i was with their product and service, and they had replied (finally) stating they had a policy of 2 weeks return. I have that stated in an email. This company doesn't even know their own policies either. Then they had a girl named Whitney ( who lies alot) call me FINALLY!!!! after all this! She had asked me the issue, I told her I had pictures of the damaged jewelry and she said that she had the jewelry in the office but wanted to see my pics. If she had the jewelry there, why didn't she just look at it?? LIAR. They stand by the policy (if they even know what it is!) and awful jewelry. They only gave me instore credit for probably more awful jewelry.
It upsets me because if I order more jewelry from them and its deformed or unwearable their policy states that a exchange item is a final sale. They also state one exchange per item. That probably means that if it's damaged I still can't return it and they are directing me at what my money can buy through them as exchanged. The damages were pretty ugly on the jewelry too, it actually made the pair of earrings unwearable, it wouldn't even latch. I have many pics. You can see gobs of glue on the items, it's ridiculus. Some pieces seemed to be able to break off cause the metal was formed so thin that they could bend so easily like they were formed with a nail file. This can't be the quality I bought. The jewelry was spotty, another set had a glue fingerprint on it!!!!!! a pair of $250.00 earrings with a glue fingerprint!!!
The website is so deceiving because it's beautiful, and offered this beautiful quality jewelry. It was really awful this cannot be the quality of what I bought. Even reputable companies issue at least a 30 day return. I can't believe this is legal, I returned their junk and I can't get credit to my card, I don't want more of their junk. I can't believe you can buy something that is not the quality they state and get garbage and return it and be forced to buy more garbage!!!!
I think they broke contract with me when they sent items that were much lower quality than they promised on their site.
