Grassroots Campaign, Inc. which purports to claim is a leading progressive liberal campaign is just another money making scheme out to make money and prey on idealistic and naive college students.

I applied for a job via their ads they post on Sacramento News and Review and called for Carmen and she set up an interview on Monday at 11am. When I went there the interviewer, whose name was Jared, was clearly high on drugs because he was figgity, nervous, unshaven, not making direct eye contact with any of the applicants and using a lot of hand gestures throughout his spiel. He then goes to mention that this is a "non-political" fundraising event and we go in front of grocery stores asking for donations.

The interview itself lasts about two to three minutes. The two questions they ask is 1. Have you ever been in a leadership role? and 2. If a customer coming out of a store seems interested in our campaign but doesn't have any money or is short on cash, what do you say to them to get them to give you money? A week later, I was called back for a second job interview and this time with a fellow named Jeff. He asked the same questions that Jared asked me and told me they usually give an applicant 48 hours to notify him whether he has the job or not (they never called and this is despite the fact there were only five applicants).

The reason why this organization is a fraud and con game is they keep changing their causes every month. First, it was supposedly to help elect Barack Obama. Then it was to feed the starving children in Haiti. Now it is a grassroots campaign to overthrow Proposition 8. These people sure keep changing their grassroots campaign and tell tall tales to sucker people into these worthless panhandling jobs! If you see any ads on craigslist or SN&R ignore it.

No, it's a Scam

You can fool anyone with half a brain but you can't fool me: Grassroots Campaigns is a scam and I stand by my definition of them running a con game out of their Sacramento offices. The interview lasts anywhere between two to three minutes. If you want to continue to argue that they're legit, you might as well argue with the wind because nobody is hearing you and, quite frankly, nobody cares. Grassroots has been receiving quite a bit of complaints from former ex-workers who have worked for them, only to be unceremoniously fired days later and not getting paid any money for their labor.

Um, exploitation anyone? I don't know what Grassroots Campaigns you encountered in your supposed job interview, but the Grassroots Campaigns that I encountered is a shady, unethical organization that hires just about anybody off the street and then fires them days later when they can't produce $200 a day standing on a street corner asking people for money. Have fun working in your panhandling job.

The very definition of a scam is when an organization or a business hires you and doesn't pay you for the work that you have done for their organization. Grassroots Campaign Inc. is notorious for its high turnover amongst its staff and keep in mind that I wrote this in 2010, which means over the course of three years they have gone through a litany of new staff members working in their organization since July 2010. And the job interview doesn't last for thirty minutes; it lasts for two to three minutes because Grassroots will hire just about anyone off the street to do their street canvassing jobs, and the average career of a canvasser such as yourself ranges anywhere between two to three days. I don't know about you but the Grassroots Campaign I encountered is very much a shady organization and, hence, I will very much define their business as a scam. Have fun working in your canvassing job because it isn't going to last very long. See ya' in the unemployment office in three days.

Grassrots campaign is real

This no profit is not a scam and is very real. Their issues vary and often times they are working on multiple issues at once. I was just hired on and my interview lasted about 30 minutes. My interviewer Cassidy, was very knowledgeable about his work and his subject and was very friendly, unlike "Jared". Everyone i spoke to was nice and kowledgeable about their work and the organization itself. I was hired on immediately, given contact information and moreinformation about the position. I don't know what Grassroots Campaign you encountered, my my experience was ideal.
