Sent my 17 year old son to Best Drug Rehabilitation Center in Manistee Michigan. He was there for a total of 7 days. This included detox at a different location. He ran away on the seventh day due to the terrible conditions. They didn't even know he had left! It was during the hottest part of the summer, and they didn't have air conditioning. I specifically asked if they had air conditioning and was told they did. They lied about many things, and I paid $21,000 for 7 days. I have tried to get my money back, but I signed a contract based on their verbal promises, plus the fact I was trying to save my son 's life. I would have done just about anything to save my only child. BDR know this and takes advantage of desperate people. I have seen many other reports on here about BDR that sound very similar to our story. My question is, has anyone successful taken this
Place to court and got their money back? I have seen where others have posted that they have an attorney. I would love to know what attorneys are being used. Can we not all ban together and do a class action law suit? Anyone else out there have a good attorney that is working on a case against BDR?

I just got home from there a week and a half ago and boy do I have a list of things wrong with this place
1) Due to employee lazyness/error I am short $400.00+ in my account
2) They lost me while I was in their care for 2 weeks
3) As a diebetic, I was forced to go without food or insulin for over 18 hours
4) Was stolen from a number of times and nothing was ever done
5) mail fraud (they are still collecting my mail and not sending any of it back- have filed with UPSP since) they put in for a change of address on my behalf (I did stop my mail before I left and they have been collecting my mail since I removed the hold)
6) refused to let me go home after I completed the 1 Christian based program they did have (because they wanted me to complete another 6 week program based on NARCANON
I have around 12 more reasons why this place is wrong so plese let me know if you need them to help you out because I have plenty

There is a man and his family who has filed a lawsuit against one of Pier Wickstrom's facilities in Michigan. This man set himself on fire at the facility. I believe this facility is in Battle Creek Michigan. If all of us who believe that we were lied to, and scammed by this man and his facilities, they should contact the attorney that is representing the man who filed the lawsuit. The information is fairly easy to find on the Internet. If we all contact this attorney, we have a better chance of doing a class action lawsuit. I know I want my money back!

Being the parent of an addict is already difficult! Finally getting your adult child help only to find out you have sent them to a place like this is so painful! My daughter is finally in a real treatment facility and the week after taking her from the nightmare called The Best Drug Rehabilitation and the time when she checked into the new place was horrible! Trying to keep her motivated to get help after having taken her from that facility where she thought she was getting help was worse than any other time! I am thankful that I got my daughter out! But I cant help think of the other families going through this! I want to make them stop! Someone has to care in our government! If a class action is the only way to stop them I am all for it! I have aol mail. x is the username. Email me!

Best Drug Rehabilitation in Manistee Michigan scam!

I am the one who sent my 17 year old to BDR in Manistee Michigan. I was wanting to respond to the x- worker who responded to my origional post. Yes, my son did get his computer back thankfully! I did file a report with the attorney general. They sent my letter to BDR, and BDR denied everything I said. This place is taking advantage of vulnerable people. They tell you all kinds of lies to get you to trust them. They told me it was a juvenile facility. It was not! They told me they have an 85% success rate. At the time I sent him, it had only been open for around 6 months. How can they come up with that kind of statistic in 6 months? Now I know that no ligitimate drug rehab center will give you a statistic like that! This place IS NARCANON (which is Scientology) with a different name! I know of another family who sent there son there during the same time my son was there. I know this because I was sent all of his information. HIPPA would frown on this I am certain of it. They had me sign a one sided contract that didn't even say what kind of services were being provided. A contract should protect both parties. They basically have me paying them for nothing! I signed this at a time when I felt very scared and concerned for the life of my son. It is rediculous that they are still in business! I can't undrstand how they still are. All of us who have been taken advantage of by this place need to come together and try and stop this! More families are going to be taken advantage in this way if we don't do something! I have heard they are opening MORE!!!

I remember your son and always wondered what happened with him. Unless you have a speciic legal claim, like personal injury and maybe in your case as your son was 17, you do. Did he ever get his computer returned? If it is the same 17 year-old I remember, once we got there from the detox, they couldnt find the computer. That place is a ridiculous joke, some of the people I was friends with from there are dead, because of BDR's inadequacies.. The best thing you can do is file a complaint with the attorney general. They are looking for a pattern and if they find one then everyone gets there money back, please include that it is a rehab owned by Per Wickstrom, the attonrey general was not sure of the link between, AFR, Narconon Freedom and BDR. I have hear back from them and spoken with the attorney general office. This is serious people are dying, an attorney that I refer people to often says that anyone who survived that place is lucky, many don't..you can begin the complaint online michigan state attorney general office. Hope this helps.
