I employed Wendy Cockcroft to help me put together a website for my new business. I don't know a lot about the technical aspects of websites and she assured me that she could help me get it set up and running as well as design a targeted social media campaign to advertise my product. Ms Cockcroft said that her rates were reasonable and they were cheaper than others that were quoted to me. I knew that she works full time as a helpdesk administrator for the company interserve and I was worried that she may not be able to meet our agreed timelines. Ms Cockcroft said that if she was pressed for time she would just take a couple of sick days to finish the job because they were paid anyway. I paid her half upfront for the work with an agreement to pay her the other half when finished. I know now that I should have not agree agreed to pay her in cash but she offered me a good discount for cash payment.
It did take Wendy Cockcroft longer than she stated to build my website but she assured me that I would be happy with the results. When I saw the website I was shocked. It looked amateurish and my product logo was turned into a cartoon. In fact, the whole website looked like it was a cartoon setting. This was not the business profile that I wanted to display and I told her that I wanted her to start from the beginning and produce a more elegant design to match my business strategy. I responded that she should either redesign the website and when I was happy with the job I would pay her the other half of the money that we agreed. Ms Cockcroft said that she had done the work and I should pay her because everyone takes advantage of her hard working ethos and she does not get the credit that she deserves for her significant talents. Although the agreed payment was lower than other quotes it was still a substantial amount and a large chunk out of my start up budget and I told her this.
Ms Cockcroft suddenly became very angry and threatened to ruin my business before it started. She said that she was in with a very influential group of people on a technical blog who would write about me and many other people would comment. She said this would mean that my reputation would be ruined and it would remain at the tip of Google. Wendy Cockcroft refused to refund my money, refused to re-do the work and threatened to destroy my business and personal reputation before it even started. I am so worried that she will carry out her threats. I have worked to develop my product and the thought that someone with such power on the internet and who has a vendetta against me could destroy all my hard work and there is nothing that I can do is causing me a lot of distress. I looked around the web and Wendy Cockcroft certainly seems to know how to spread information. I have lot a lot of money and I may lose my fledgling business. Thank goodness that I found Ripoff Report. I only hope that if and when I can finally launch my business potential customers read my Ripoff report.
Wendy Cockcroft not only ripped off my money she is threatening to destroy my business and it looks like she knows how to do this. I don’t know what to do now.

This Report Is False

I've attached a screenshot that proves without a doubt that the accusations made against me are entirely without foundation; one does not pay a man by taking money from him.
This report is a troll post and violates the guidelines of this website.
At no point has this troll, who has posted the same accusations elsewhere using a variety of pseudonyms, made any effort at all to provide any proof of his allegations; there is none because they're not true. If they were, he should have gone to the police, considering how serious they are.
RE: my web design business, I wound that up in February 2013. I mostly blog these days on various platforms, discussing a range of subjects from social issues to politics. I also write guest blog posts and dabble in creative writing.
I have never met or had any dealings with the individual behind these allegations, nor has he made any attempt to contact me directly except to bring these allegations to my attention on one occasion using a Twitter account set up for that purpose. I believe the idea was to start a proxy flame was but neither of the parties he was hoping to engage was particularly interested in getting involved.

Who Is My Accuser?

If Mr. Diaz would care to supply some evidence to that effect, including screenshots of emails between us, I'd be interested to see it.
I'd also like to know when this alleged "business" was contracted as I've never heard of this man before.
Furthermore, if he would like to advise as to where and how he "met" me I'm sure the readers of this fine website would be interested to learn more about the process by which patrons engage contractors where web design is concerned.
Given that he has supplied no links, no corroborating evidence and no way of checking his allegations I believe we can agree that every statement he has made against me is completely false and can be safely ignored.
If Mr. Diaz really does believe he has a legitimate complaint to make against me he is at liberty to contact the intermediary on which he allegedly engaged me and report my alleged misconduct to them, upon which there will be an investigation that will result in one of us having our account removed and a complaint made to the authorities for fraud.
If any of you wish to pay a person to carry out works for you over the internet there are ways to protect yourself against loss:
1. Use an intermediary service that will hold the funds in escrow until you're happy to release the money.
2. Agree on the scope of works and the price up front.
3. Set a schedule of works and pay in installments. No work, no pay, deposit not released. This protects both parties: if the work stops, the money stops. If the money stops, the work stops.
4. Do nothing at all until a written, witnessed agreement is in place. That's why it is best to use an intermediary: there are always other eyes on your work.
This is how I've always done business so if Mr. Diaz would like to provide evidence of any kind, I believe we'd all be interested in seeing it.
Bogus reviews are common these days and I'd be interested in finding out who this complete stranger really is. I confess I'm in the habit of arguing about politics online, particularly where copyright and digital civil rights are concerned. We may find "Mr. Diaz" is one of those authoritarian types I've made a habit of arguing with.
Your move, "Mr. Diaz."
